MAGA (Make America Godly Again?)

Persuade Americans To Love God

MAGA’s Ultimate Goal

The UnderDog Says:

There have been many versions of former President Trumps present campaign slogan “Make American Great Again,” also called the MAGA slogan. I had some fun on X or TAFKAT (The Account Formally Known As Twitter) to see how many versions of “Make American ____ Again” there were.  There was no shortage of alternatives which included (with some comments) Make America_____:

  • …Based Again (A military base?)
  • …A Banana Republic Again (When were we?)
  • …Wild Again (A college frat’s dream?)
  • …Eat Vegetables Again (When did we ever?)
  • …Last Again (Sounds like a winner)
  • …Poor Again (You first)
  • …Safe Again
  • …Happy Again
  • …Strong Again
  • …First Again
  • …Better Again
  • …Just Again
  • …Affordable Again
  • …Free Again
  • …Thrive Again

Although it does make a great catchphrase, I never felt completely comfortable with the “Make America,” MAGA slogan. It seems a bit too forced for me. Of course, a slogan that says, “Make America God Again”  or “Make America Christian Again,” does not work at all. You cannot make anyone to become a Christian, although you persuade them.

But why should we attempt to persuade anyone?  After all, the second you mention Jesus Christ, you can hear a pin drop and the topic is quickly changed. You see the tension in people’s faces, you have mentioned a forbidden topic. One of the two great ‘sins’ of conversations today is, “Don’t talk about Politics or God”  (Notice I do not use the term ‘religion’).[1]

I was recently with some friends and the topic of Astrology came up. Everyone was comfortable talking how the position of the stars at the time of their birth determined their personality. Sounds like a type of religion to me. When I mention Jesus in relation to a star, before I could finish my sentence, I was talked over, and the subject was quickly changed. It was embarrassing for me.

Revelation 22:16 (KJV) I Jesus…am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

I find it strange that politics and God are the two topics forbidden in ‘polite society.’ To a large extent, politics determine how well we live while alive (Taxes, Laws and how they are applied, Legal Codes, Etc.); and God determines where we go when we are not alive. There are two very important topics. It seems these very topics require frequent and detailed discussions between people.

Mentioning Jesus is just as uncomfortable for those speaking as for those listening (or choosing not too). This is why the great majority of Christians don’t talk about Jesus. Why should they make a conversation uncomfortable for them or anyone else? Let’s just get along. Here is a personal story about one of my uncomfortable conversations:

I was attending prayer meetings over 40 years ago and I asked my landlord to come with me one night and he agreed. Late in the afternoon when he came home from work, I reminded him. He looked stressed and said he had a crazy day, had a flat tire, and could not go. I was a bit zealous at the time, and I don’t recommend this for anyone else, but I just blurted out, “Satan gave you that flat so you would not come tonight.” His face dropped and he was clearly insulted. I felt like a fool. We never discussed it again.

I moved away to another state, and later moved back to the state fourteen years later and got married. One night, after my wife and I purchased a car, we were driving home, which was about 45 minutes away. We just happen to pass the street I used to live on.  On impulse I turned telling my wife, this is where I used to live.  We drove to his house and stopped, it was dark, and some trucks were parked outside. I didn’t even know if he still lived there and was about to leave. Just by ‘coincidence’ there was a man outside and he walked over to our car. I got out and recognized my old landlord.

It was funny because he said to me, Gary “come here. I was not sure what he meant, but I stepped closer. He stepped back and repeated “come here,” and stepped into the dark. I thought it was strange as he backed away again. When he repeated this a third time and stepped back, I was nervous. Was he going to open his jacket and try to sell me some watches?

Finally, he began talking and said, “Gary, when you told me about Jesus years ago, I was not ready to hear it, but since then I have turned my life to Christ, and I want to say it was because of you!”

I was both shocked and blessed. My words to him were not empty words after all. They were not void, but powerful.

So why should we speak about God’s Word and Christ, here are six great reasons:

God’s Word, the words from the Bible, never goes out void, because they accomplish what God has in mind:

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Christians should speak about Jesus, because when we tell others about Him (The Word became Man)[2], there is always a benefit to it. It could please us, the person we are speaking to, or someone who overheard it. So be blessed, don’t be embarrassed.

No one can make anyone accept Jesus or to love God, nor should we want to. Forcing God onto anyone is religion, not Christianity. Becoming a Christian is a free choice, but we still have the responsibility to persuade others:

2 Corinthians 5: 11 (NLT) Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too.

You see, we don’t make or force anyone, we persuade them. This is why we should be speaking God’s Word to others; God has given us this responsibility, but not to force, but to persuade others.

Diplomats to foreign counties are also called Ambassadors. They represent the leaders of their respective countries. They speak for their leaders, their ‘lords.’ We should speak about our Lord also as Ambassadors for Him:

2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

Jeremiah 49:14 (ASV) I have heard tidings from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations…

Ephesians 6:19-20 (KJV) 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

In this way, we are Ambassadors and Diplomats for Christ. We represent Him and speak His words to others. We are Christ Ambassadors and we have been charged to represent Him to all others. Be and act like an Ambassador.

Did you know that EVERY Christian is a Minister? That is correct, not only are you an ambassador, but you are a Minister and a witness for Christ:

Acts 26:16 (KJV) But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

This means, regardless of what you do as your ministry in your Church life, you still have the responsibly to speak to others about Christ. It is not only your Pastors responsibility. Be a responsible Christian and speak up.

Not only are you a Minister, but you been Ordained.  Every Christian has been ordained. Isn’t that a great thing!  Not only has your Pastor been ordained, but you have also:

Acts 1:22 (KJV) 22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

It’s a special thing to be ordained, but even more special to be ordained by God. You have been ordained to speak about Christ and His resurrection.

What is our Ministry? What have we been Ordained for? Why are we Ambassadors? To help others, that’s right:

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (NIV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

You are a new creation with Christ, and you can do things you never did before, like open your mouth and returning people (reconciling them) to God. And remember, it’s not only good for you, but for others. You are returning others to God. In this process they receive eternal life.

These six things keep in mind:

  1. God’s Word is Always a Benefit
  2. It is Our Responsibility
  3. We Are God’s Ambassadors
  4. We Are Ministers and a Witness
  5. We Have Been Ordained
  6. We Have the Ministry of Reconciliation

So, in our own small way, let’s Persuade Americans To Love God. It’s PATLG not MAGA. So, open your mouth, pray for open door to speak to others, look for an open conversation, and be blessed.

This is romance (think Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy, etc.) – This story is set in a fictional town (Bajka means Fairytale/Fable/Story in Polish) so the author could take liberties with some of the procedures and police structures. Plus, with the fairy-tale elements, there is the freedom to bend the rules of nature.

*This book was previously published as a Kindle Vella (the contents of this book are from Season 3), but it has been reformatted, re-edited (with new scenes & information) and includes never before seen crime scene sketches and new character art! Each book will be a new crime, but the overarching story of Bel, Eamon, & Cerberus will weave through the series and end on slight cliffhangers.

  1. I agree on every view you describe. Now lets learn how to introduce God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit into a conversation. I feel most attempts can fail because of misunderstanding of what it means to accept Jesus Christ. When someone is lost, in pain or hungry there is a void. Our emotional or financial help plants the seed and begins to fill the empty space. It is the Holy Spirit that takes control from here with either a question, smile and it may take time. A planted seed does not grow right away.
The application is to be a good listener and know when to speak or not speak. Jesus never leaves us.

  2. Excellent insight Bruce not only must we listen, but we need to “read the room” so our message is received. By waiting on the Holy Sporit, we will have the opportunity for God to “fill the void” people may be experiencing.
