UNDERDOG REPORT: Getting The Word Out – Part 4 in the ‘Obey God’ Series

The Underdog Report is a team of two men, one Black and one Brown who write on conservative issues in support of this country. The use of the possessive “I” is interchangeable between both parties.

Watch this brief video of Tucker Carlson on Turning Point USA.  Here, Tucker outlines what will change America is a Spiritual movement to combat the spiritual evil we are seeing, and we totally agree. He goes on to say we must change ourselves. But I wish he took his comments to the next logical step. The ONLY way to combat spiritual evil is with Spiritual[1] good, the Word of God.  We must change ourselves with the good news about Jesus AND to tell others about it! This is fundamental change.

“What threatens you is not a political movement, it’s a spiritual movement. The plan can only end in true sadness, and tears, and weeping, and gnashing of teeth. There is no happy ending to the story that they are telling. And the third and most important thing, is that you can only fight back, in fact maybe you can only survive, not by changing them, because you can’t, but by changing your self. By becoming more impressive, more honest, and as a result of that stronger.”

In Part 2 of this series, we pointed out that the spiritual evil we are seeing needs to be dealt with a by using a spiritual weapon. Fighting fire with fire[2], or spirit with spirit to save this country from ruin. It’s not conservatism or the Republicans that will rescue this country, it is the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. This is what needs to be shared with others.

But how can this be done? Is it the responsibility of many churches in this country to ‘get the word out?’ We do need their help, but more is needed. Almost all denominations send missionaries only to foreign countries (With the exception of Mormons & Jehovah Witnesses). So how can we as individuals get this done?

It is EVERY Christian’s responsibility. We are ALL called Ambassadors for Christ and each and every one of us have been given the Ministry of Reconciliation[3], to reunite people with the true God. We are all ministers, not only our Pastors (May God Bless them), but if you are Christian, it is your responsibly. You are a Ministry of Christ.

It’s simple, your Pastor will not be there when you are in the grocery store, the hardware store, the car dealership, or any other place you may be when you are not in church. Only you will encounter that moment when someone could hear about Jesus, and your words will never go out empty.[4] It will bless you and others.

So how do we begin as a county to change ourselves (as Tucker Carlson suggested) to speak to others? At first it may not appear to be easy, but when you do it you will get heart burn, but not the kind you are thinking about. It’s when your heart burns with joy at the words being shared!

Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

There is that one word, “Joy”, everything starts with joy. If is often said, if you do what you love, you never have to work a day in your life, and if you share the Word of God, you will have joy that you will be able to share with others for eternity!

Notice how the word joy, not happiness is used. The word ‘Joy’ occurs 155 times in the Bible, and 60 times in the New Testament. Joy is a big deal. Here is what Billy Graham said about Joy:

“The kind of happiness that’s lasting is an inner joy and peace, which endures in any circumstance no matter what comes our way. It may even grow stronger in adversity. This is the kind of happiness to which Jesus summons us in His sermon of the Beatitudes. He alone has the answer to our search for lasting happiness. “He who heeds the word [of God] wisely will find good, … happy is he” (Proverbs 16:20).[5]

Jesus said:

John 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

If we have joy inside of us, we want to share that joy with others, and sharing that joy gives us more joy. So, sharing the good news is a joyful experience.

Did you know that joy positively affects your entire body?  This includes you brain, your circular system, and your autonomic nervous system.[6] Be joyful and be healthy!

Guest Thoughts from Bruce MacDonald:

After reading our UnderDog Report Obey God Series (Parts 1 thru 3), Bruce MacDonald woke up at 3AM one night. He said could not stop thinking about the message of getting the Word of God and the message of Jesus out. He prayed and that helped, then he put his thoughts in writing. Here are his thoughts:

My opinion is there are three items brought into play:

1. The First is Our Appearance. Not how we are dressed but our facial expressions and the vibrations we give off. Being joyful and smiling with a positive vibration is the start. It has been studied that happiness comes from making others feel good rather than ourselves. Martin Luther King Jr. said the:

“…surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others.”

King’s words are as true today as they were a half-century ago — that our own happiness is, in large part, influenced by the kindness and generosity we show to others.[7]

2. Secondly What Comes Out of Our Mouth. Jesus said it is not what goes in but what comes out.[8] Use the words bless, blessing and blessed. When being asked, “How we are feeling?” You can respond “Wonderful, terrific, or blessed. “ When leaving a conversation with someone, encourage them to have a blessed day. The word bless is our introduction. I encourage to find another word as powerful as blessed.[9]

3. Thirdly, Take the Opportunity. Open your mouth.[10] When the door of opportunity arises from the individual asking about our relationship with Jesus, be relaxed in your spirit to allow Jesus to speak through you.

The next morning, Bruce opened his Bible to:

John 17:8-10, 17-19.  8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them…17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
