Christmas is Not the Day of Vengeance

A Christmas Story for All

IN THE BEGINNING, this guy and his girl, Eve, have everything they needed from God, but they wanted more, enter Satan, the new god of this world.[1] God then tells Satan, this Messiah guy is coming to get him,

Genesis 3:15 (NIV) And I will put enmity (hatred) between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

This is very early in the Bible when we see the promise of someone coming to set things right.

Isaiah 61:1-2 (NIV) to proclaim good news to the poor… to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and….(Verse completed below…)

But this promise would take thousands of years to come true and Satan was doing everything he could to stop it. After all, he did not want his head to be crushed.

So, there was a very wet year (the flood).

Followed by a one world government (Nimrod and the tower of Babel).

After a while, God says, “I will choose a team.” These are the Jewish people, and they go through a long list of Kings, some good, mostly bad until the country is overthrown, and they are put under the authority of others for hundreds of years. This is Roughly from 586 BC, when the Babylonian ruler sacked Jerusalem, until Jesus’ coming.

The Jews were very tired of being oppressed and anxiously wanted a new king to come to lead them to freedom, like King David, a military king. This was the guy who would break the shackles of oppression they endured for centuries. They wanted a king to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and THE DAY OF VENGENCE. The Jewish people were intent on this VENGENCE.

Isaiah 61:2 (…Continued from above)…THE DAY OF VENGENCE.

But Christmas and the birth of Christ was not a “Day of Vengeance”, but a day of peace and hope.

So significant was this Messiah that the whole world would be turned upside down. And that is exactly what Jesus did, but not at all as expected.  When you read the Old Testament, there is NO WAY you could see that the Gentiles would be able to partake of the richness of Christ via the Holy Spirit along with the Jews. In Fact, Satan would have never had Jesus crucified if he knew about Jesus’ resurrection and His sending of the Holy Spirit.[2] Angles greatly desired to understand this,[3] and God’s prophets never did figure it out.[4]

The salvation this Messiah brings goes back to the beginning when he wanted all people to share in this great GIFT. And it is available now for all people to be saved!

Jesus Mary and Joseph

Think about the battles that took place over thousands of years that now enable you, your family, and your friends to be saved and live for eternity![5] This is a very small the price for never-ending life. Also, to receive this, Jesus’ burden is very light.[6]

So, this Christmas, think about the great hope this little baby Jesus offered to not only the Jewish people, but the whole world!

[1] 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (KJV) 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

[2] 1 Corinthians 2:8 (KJV) …none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

[3] 1 Peter 1:11-12 (KJV) …sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12 Unto whom it was revealed…which things the angels desire to look into.

[4] 1 Peter 1:10 (KJV) Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

[5] Romans 10:9-13 (KJV) 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

[6] Matthew 11:29-30 (KJV) 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
