Caitlin Clark’s Shoe – the “Caitlin 1” – Is the Biggest Single Athlete Launch in Nike History – Shoes Sold Out in Minutes.
Here is Caitlin Clark today in Iowa City during ESPN College GameDay in Iowa City.
Clark was asked about her new shoe launch on ESPN’s Game Day where she was Saturday’s celebrity guest picker.
Jess Sims interviewed Clark:
Caitlin, when you stepped on Iowa’s campus back in 2020 as a freshman, could you have ever imagined 6 years later you’d be standing on your own court?
Clark shared:
This is pretty crazy. These fans are amazing. I mean, I’m just very grateful and thankful. And, uh, she (the shoe) looks pretty good. I mean, it feels even better, I’m not gonna lie.
It’s even more comfy than how good it looks. It’s just special. Mine look pretty good. I got a little extra shine on mine.
Sims:
Of course, as you should… Well, Caitlin, this is the biggest signature athlete launch in Nike history. I mean, the fans are literally losing their minds about it. Sold out, all this great stuff.
Tell us one of your favorite parts of the [launch].
Clark:
Man, I think just providing a product for all these people and people across the globe to put on a shoe and know that their dreams can come true. And, you know, I was a kid that dreamed to be on stages like this in front of this many people and sell out arenas. So hopefully that— hopefully this shoe lets little kids dream like that.
Sims:
Well, the whole concept of the shoe is amazing, right? Balancing the duality of the extraordinary and the ordinary. How do you want people to feel when they put the shoe on?
Clark:
Hopefully you can feel like me. And at the same time, like, I’m a very ordinary person. I grew up in this amazing state. I played basketball in front of a lot of these people for a lot of— a long time. And, you know, my first year here in college, like, there weren’t many people that came to my games because it was COVID. And then we sold out every single game and played in Kinnick Stadium. So just really grateful for all these people. So when you put this shoe on, you’re getting a part of me. And I put a lot of time and effort into this. I’m really thankful for Nike too. They, they really invested and took everything I said to heart. So I hope everybody loves it as much as I do.
Clark’s new shoe, the Caitlin 1, became Nike’s biggest women’s signature basketball shoe release in history.

The shoe was reportedly sold out across the country within minutes:
The Nike Caitlin 1s went on sale Thursday morning at 10 a.m. ET on the footwear giant’s website and nearly sold out in two hours, according to CNBC. As of Thursday afternoon, only extra-large sizes ranging from women’s 16.5/men’s 15 to women’s 18.5/men’s 17 remain in stock on Nike.com.
Clark’s signature shoe is also sold out at several national athletic shoe retailers, including Foot Locker, Champs Sports and Hibbett, CNBC reports. However, the Caitlin 1s appear to still be available at Dick’s Sporting Goods in “Caitlin Blue” and yellow “Warning Code” colors.
Nike appeared pleased with the attention Clark’s new shoe received at the game.
