Why a burned-out lightbulb cost more than a brand-new lightbulb in the Soviet Union

Why a burned-out lightbulb cost more than a brand-new lightbulb in the Soviet Union

By Rolf Lindgren
Under communism in the Soviet Union, a burned out lightbulb cost more than a brand new lightbulb. You might think. “No way!”
This couldn’t possibly be true!!!
But it is…
Under communism, when the government controlled the means of production, new lightbulbs had a fixed, relatively low official price. The problem was that not enough lightbulbs were produced, and demand greatly exceeded supply. In the rare times when new lightbulbs did appear in government stores, massive lines formed to buy the lightbulbs, and they sold out quickly. The Soviet Union didn’t have supply and demand pricing.
But burned-out lightbulbs had a black-market price higher than the official price.
If you had a burned-out lightbulb, you could sneak it into a government building. Then you could find a working lightbulb, unscrew it, and then screw in the burned-out bulb. Then you snuck the working lightbulb home!

Communism doesn’t work!

  1. When GOVERNMENT gets too over the line…. You have to ABOLISH it and start over.

Russians did that work, Now America has to drive down that hard road.

The Russian, Having done this work…. Will lead the remnant out of the dark.

The American is going to have to learn RESPECT again if it's land and people are expected to survive.

  2. I am pretty sure…. You Americans keep at this crap You are Screwed.

How is the population going to take falling backwards into second world status…?

I wonder how long that call to prayer thing will last, blasting out every morning?

How many versions of attack on normal life are you seeing today?

    Twenty five…..?

    Thirty ?

Without an EMERGENCY program…. things are going to be real bad as the wheels come off and the ship rolls into a deep ditch.
