I’m a forensic pathologist. Medicolegal autopsies are not trivial to do. It commonly takes a long time to get a report out, because you don’t do every possible test all at once on the day of the autopsy. It usually takes a couple of weeks to get toxicology results back. It may take longer if you ask for a consultation report. Moreover, because you can’t afford to do everything all at once on the same day, you do a lot of things sequentially. For instance, I recently did an autopsy on a death in a jail. The decedent had heavy lungs, so I took tissue for histology. After a week, I go the initial microscopy slides back. After looking at those, I decided that it was an atypical appearing pneumonia, so I ordered special stains on the tissue. After another couple of weeks, I got those slides back and looked at them, which provided me with an indication of what was going on. During this time, I also reviewed the decedent’s medical records, investigation reports, etc. Once I had all of the circumstantial, anatomic, toxicologic, and laboratory information, I wrote my report. It is common practice in many offices for deaths in custody and high profile cases to be reviewed by peers before release in a so-called “peer review conference.” Accordingly, my case is scheduled for peer review next week. I’ll probably sign it out after that. The entire sequence will take about 60 days. It’s not like they make it out in television shows. The initial autopsy standing a the autopsy table might only take two or three hours, but the amount of work to finalize a repor is 8-20 hours spread out over weeks. These consultants who run to the microphone after taking a quick look are superficial and usually wrong.
All of your details are of course correct…doing these important tests and follow ups do take time.
But, releasing a simple fact of having a bullet or not, it does match the rifling of the weapon we have or not, and came from this angle…are really quick and decisive test 99% of the time, and not so critical to a case to not be released especially if it all matches the suspect in custody.

I totally agree with you. Even testing for DNA isn’t instaneous like CSI. If other symptoms are present, it takes even longer. For example: a local case of a 30 something woman was ruled a heart attack as COD. But after the examiner studied health history and actually listened to the family, it was determined to be a homicide. Her husband, a paramedic, had been putting Visine into her drinks. It took almost 6 months for all of the testing to come back. This guy is a psychopath because he’s now being accused of poisoning his daughter and other family members. He also started a fire in his helicopter to appear to be a hero. It’s as you said, not like the movies or TV. And if there’s any extra testing, like heavy metals, or unusual toxicology, it’s an even longer turn around. Everyone needs to quit speculating and wait until the report and results come in.

I have read many autopsy reports and interviewed medical examiners so I have a working knowledge of the processes involved. It is troubling, however, that a number of sources close to the case and medical examiner have leaked. We are told the bullet caliber was .30.06, which is a high powered combat and hunting round yet these sources intimate the bullet lodge in Kirk’s neck. Army and Marine snipers who served in Afghanistan say this is preposterous. That this round would have torn through th neck leaving a gaping exit wound. One suggested Kirk may have been shot with a small caliber (.22, .25, .32) round from close distance of 15-20 feet. If the round was lodged without an exit wound. So where is the actual spent round? Sources say the the attending Physician signed the Death Certificate, not the Medical Examiner as is usually the case. If true, why? There are also many other unanswered questions: no security video of a muzzle flash or of the alleged shooter carrying the rifle on the roof nor dropping it off before climbing down. Then the cops find a bolt action German .30-06 Mauser in the nearby woods , claimed to be the murder weapon?? The towel wrapped around it had his DNA on it but not on the rifle itself??
From my years as an investigator, I developed a healthy skepticism she there are apparent holes in the narrative, explanations that don’t make sense or alleged evidence that doesn’t fit the versions bring told. Sorry, but I smell a cover-up.
A .30-06 rifle bullet can penetrate a 1/4 steel plate easily. The bullet should have passed through and left a large exit wound. I’m betting that the DNC knows something about this. Just my opinion

If the shooter, supposedly Tyler, is a complete amateur, soft point hunting loads are most common. They are designed for maximum shock and wound damage and ideally not to penetrate completely through when hitting the chest cavity of a large animal. I can’t see a human neck stopping that. And the damage would be horrendous. FMJ 30.06 would probably not be available at Walmart. A gun and shooting store and online yes.

Early on one of the reports supposedly from the Police said there was no exit wound. If you saw the one video that was fairly close then you saw the blood coming down Charlie’s left neck onto the left side of his shirt. What does that mean? It means the bullet exited out the left side of Charlie’s neck.
I have a feeling the blood video was AI, because it was only one video showing a lot of blood. Three men were hovering around Charlie’s body and had no blood on them. The other videos really don’t show a lot of blood coming out instantly, which it should have.

Early on one of the reports supposedly from the Police said there was no exit wound. If you saw the one video that was fairly close then you saw the blood coming down Charlie’s left neck onto the left side of his shirt. What does that mean? It means the bullet exited out the left side of Charlie’s neck.
I have a feeling the blood video was AI, because it was only one video showing a lot of blood. Three men were hovering around Charlie’s body and had no blood on them. The other videos really don’t show a lot of blood coming out instantly, which it should have.
