Wow, what an event for Iowa High School Junior Quentin Nauman from Western Dubuque.
The Junior track star from Western Dubuque High School is headed to Oregon when he graduates and the great Oregon track team must be happy to have him.
Saturday at the Iowa high school state track and field championships belonged to Quentin Nauman.
The Western Dubuque junior and future Oregon Duck made history, becoming the first high school in the country to run sub 1:50 in the 800 and sub 4:00 in the 1,600 in the same meet.
Nauman broke the state record in the open 800 meter run becoming the first Iowa High Schooler to go sub-1:50 in the race. At the finish he tried to look like Iowa native Caitlin Clark and look like it was no big deal.
Quentin Nauman makes history. The @WesternDubuque junior captivates the Blue Oval with the first sub-1:50 open 800m run in Iowa prep history.

Nauman also became the first Iowa high school runner to go sub-4:00 in the mile in a state race. As noted above he also became the first high school runner in US history to break the 1:50 half mile and 4:00 mile in the same meet.
The crowd roared when he finished.
Nauman earlier this year broke the Drake Relays record in the high school 2-mile (3,200 meter) race breaking 9:00 minutes.
