Her Father Escaped China After Tiananmen Square, Now American Alysa Liu, Wins Women’s Skating Gold

Another American gold and another incredible story. 

Alysa Liu won the gold medal for the US at the Olympics on Thursday.  This comes after years of excelling in the sport.

Ms. Liu, who lives in Oakland, California, delivered a flawless performance in the free skate, looking relaxed and happy.  Her nerves were clearly not an issue as she skated flawlessly on the ice, becoming America’s first United States medalist in the event since Sasha Cohen, and the first gold medalist since Sarah Hughes. She is also the eighth overall American to win gold, joining Hughes, Tara Lipinski, Kristi Yamaguchi and more.

Liu’s story is unique, especially since she retired after her first Olympic appearance in 2022. However, she returned to the sport two years ago, proving to be a golden decision.

The CCP reportedly was so furious that Alysa Liu refused to skate for Team China that they sent spies after her and her father in America

The FBI discovered the plot and told Alysa, she speaks publicly about how China attempted to intimidate her not to skate for Team USA.

  1. I was at a bar and a lady asked me why some slanty eyed girl was considered American. I told her I'm 75% Norwegian but if I were in the Olympics I'd be for team USA.

    • Gu made a "lucrative" choice which is disappointing but says a lot about the person. She was there with her mom and what I thought I heard, her agent. If I heard correctly that says all we need to know.

      • It's not as if she wasn't going to make a lot of money if she was on team USA. She sold herself for a higher price. Her American father is completely absent from her life. I don't know if he had a say in that state of affairs.

        • The problem stems from her being born in America, given her every chance to compete at this level and to disrespect that skating for a country that does not value human like as America does and than to use her mom as an excuse for skating for them is just insane. She via supporting her mom's support of the CCP over the USA is, well. odd, offensive and a disrespect many Americans feel.

  11. I watched her preformance, and she seemed to be so relaxed. And, although I'm no judge of these competitions and don't know what to look for, it appeared to me that her entire routine was flawless. Well, that gold medal pretty much proved me right about that! Amazing bit of skating!

  30. Have not been watching olympics but just happened to turn TV on last evening as Alysa was about to start her routine. Glad I watched because she was nothing shorty of outstanding. And her reaction when her scores came up was worth the wait unto itself. Congratulations X1,000, young lady. Well deserved ! ! !

          • 71% of Trump's voters in the 2024 election were White. The White votes wins elections. 1 or 2 more % points of the White vote is what makes the difference. We see it in election after election. You don't know what you're talking about.

            It's apparent that the racial demographics can be changed, since they were deliberately changed to harm Whites over the past 50 years. We can, and will, and must change the demographics back to 90% + White over the next 50 years, or the West is going to be something resembling North Africa.

          • True but he got more non-white votes over any other Republian president in history so that point is moot of the 71% of whites. Your margin of victory comes from the percentage of voters of different ethnicities. What makes more difference is getting a higher percentage than previous presidents of non-white voters. That has always been the difference maker. In any given year you can have 1% or 2% shifts of white voters between shifting dems and republicans, election to elections.

            While I don't disagree with your second paragraph, common sense policy as Trump has implemented along with understanding that Western tradition and values isn't specifically tied to one ethnic group. At least not anymore and historically isn't a one off either. If you have preserced western values and traditon and culture that is the only way to win and if it's embraced. It goes beyond ethnicity. Always has.

          • If 71% of your voters are White, a racial group that is highly politically engaged, you don't try to get more Blacks and Hispanics, which are comparatively much less engaged, and heavily vote for your opposition. Unless you're an idiot, then you might do that.

            Whites have a much greater likelihood of being a swing voter, and Whites are the majority of the country. If you're the party of White people, which the Republican Party is, then you work on getting a larger percentage of the White vote. That's assuming you're rational, and you want to win.
