Zoloft Implicated in Mass Shooting in Georgia

On September 4, 2024, 14-year-old Colt Gray carried out the Apalachee High School mass shooting in Winder, Georgia, killing two students and two teachers. Having pleaded guilty to all 55 charges, the teenager was sentenced to life in prison without the hope of parole.
It is of interest that the sentencing hearing was all about the defense blaming the murderous actions on the lack of mental health treatment and pushing the idea that “meds” were the answer all along and Colt was untreated.
However, according to testimony, it was Marcee Gray, Colts mother, who provided Colt with the strong antidepressant, Zoloft, prior to the shooting. The defense and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) did not provide information about any other prescription psychiatric drugs the now 16-year-old may have been prescribed prior to the shooting.
Across the country, parents have been charged by States for ignoring a child’s mental health needs, but the defense theory in Colton Gray’s case, the argument of lack of mental health treatment, completely fell flat on Barrow County Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm while delivering the life sentence.
Georgia’s child welfare system is the beating heart of the Gray case, where early warning signs, school records, and agency files appear to have collided with a deadly failure to act. There is plenty of room for reforms and the legislature should welcome them from outside the agency.
Marcee Gray’s admission of providing the antidepressant, Zoloft, to the adolescent, a powerful mind-altering psychiatric medication, is interesting from the standpoint that the mother was not charged in the case. Marcee testified she had been on Zoloft for a decade.
Colt’s mother reportedly inquired of her psychiatrist about Zoloft dosage levels for her adolescent son. Who is this psychiatrist? By all accounts, psychiatrists are prohibited legally and ethically from suggesting specific medication dosages for an adolescent without first establishing a doctor-patient relationship and formal evaluation. Why wasn’t this brought up in court?
But this case has become part of the larger public record surrounding unmedicated vs. medicated prior to mass shootings and the legal impact of these cases on the mass psychiatric drugging of children for decades. The Georgia DCF masterfully used Marcee Gray’s involvement with the State of Georgia to secure testimony against the father, Colin Gray, for giving his son access to a weapon. It also was Marcee who made claims that her husband failed to obtain mental health treatment for Colt.
The State of Georgia had an open case with Marcee Gray who was indicted on elder-abuse-related charges after authorities said Marcee taped her own mother to a chair, took her phone, and left her mother there for nearly a day. Marcee is free today and has not been charged with any criminal acts relating to the Apalachee school shooting or whether her role in providing her son with a serious mind-altering drug, Zoloft, played a role in the shooting tragedy.
The Defense case focused on the claim that Colt faked psychiatric illness before the mass shooting with yet another unprovable label (Malingering) and wasn’t well until he arrived in state custody and provided treatment in the form of a cocktail of psychiatric drugs.
Meanwhile the State of Georgia had their grips on Marcee, having tested positive for multiple legal and illegal substances and crushed Zoloft to solve Colt’s mental health problems. Why? According to DCF, once in custody the mind-altering cocktail of drugs reportedly made dramatic improvement of Colt’s mental health. The Judge rejected the idea. Marcee’s extensive relationship with Georgia’s DCF cannot be overlooked in this case and the production of these mass shooters almost always involves the DCF.
Marcee appeared in the child’s life, against a court order, prior to the mass murder and equipped Colt with her psychiatric elixir, crushed Zoloft. Where was the State of Georgia? Early records on Colt Gray reportedly include a 504 plan at school, where a team of psychologists and teachers considered a behavioral health plan, which makes the claim that Zoloft was the first drug given to Colt even more strikingly unbelievable because drugs usually are the go-to answer for behavioral problems in schools.
Georgia can hide behind HIPAA, but the public will never know the full truth until Marcee and Colt’s mental health records are made public. It is of interest that while prosecutors are legally allowed to withhold mental health records, it had no problem introducing damaging information relating to the adolescent’s use on the popular on-line communication platform, Discord, even reading one platform exchange as if it were a play even with voice inflections. Who are these people interacting with these “medicated” kids? One cannot help but wonder if the children are targeted?
Prosecutors used these deeply disturbing conversations on DISCORD to help reject the psychiatric label of “Malingering” as the defense was pushing that Colt was faking his psychiatric disorders, a claim that would be quickly reversed once the State began drugging Colt with a cocktail of psychiatric drugs.
Poor Colt Gray? Yes! A victim of the failures by the Georgia Department of Children & Family Services, the on-line communication platform, Discord, the behavioral health & drug companies, and most of all his own parents. Despite those failures, Judge Primm saw through the nonsense, indicating at sentencing that children who suffer far worse don’t commit mass murders.

Many should share in the blame for the adolescent’s obvious problems but, if truth be told, Colt’s life sentence started the day his mother provided a serious mind-altering drug, Zoloft, to the child’s still developing brain. From that day forward, Colt was never in his right mind. Colt’s mother, mother’s psychiatrist, father and the state’s DCF are all culpable.

Holy crap…the truth about a mind altering drug comes out
This poor kid's mind was plenty altered before he was given Zoloft.
Blaming the drug takes the heat off the government agencies who knew of the problems and who should have taken action earlier.
But you've only diagnosed the problem. "Treatment" is just psychiatric drugs that make the patient go from struggling with their thoughts to acting out their thoughts.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

I know a woman that took Zoloft and saw "ghosts". She said she knew they were not real and they were not people she knew but they scared the heck out of her.
I took Zoloft for less than a week, and saw dinosaurs peeking at me from behind trees in the woods.
I always wonder when I watch these “ghost hunter” programs if the women that see these ghosts are on zoloft.

As a LEO, I have read the intel on many of these mass shooters and a large percentage are addicted to violent videogames as well as the incredible chat sections these “games” offer where all manner of perverted violence is discussed and encouraged.
It is telling how widespread this addiction is as shown by the angry posters here and elsewhere on “conservative” platforms if one dares point out the truth about these violent “games.”

So true. Growing up in the 70s, every truck in the high school parking lot had a rifle hanging on the rear window, and not one single mass shooting. This insanity is being imposed on our youth through indoctrination and drugs. What the hell is wrong with the peole doing this?????

I can’t verify all the information below but a lot of it is commonly known. If you copy this to your word processor [I did] it will be seven [7] pages long. That would seem to indicate a connection between anti-depressants and mass killings by individuals.
What is the matter with people today? Depression has always been affecting some individuals.
Not too many years ago the problem was not dealt with by drugging up the individual – and turning them lose on society. Big Pharma as an industry needs to be held accountable, not the inanimate gun.
Question: Why haven't we heard any talk about hearings in Washington asking if there is a connection between pharmaceuticals and the mass shootings in our schools?
Why isn't this a part of the debate? Maybe they should be checking medicine cabinets instead of banning guns.
Could it be because WE are not forcing Congress to look into this, even though Congress [as a whole] is refusing to do so? Have you done YOUR part?? [This does not include simply forwarding this email to others, although that should be done as part of your ‘program’.

Have you seen the ad for Cymbalta for depression? The ad says, "If you have thoughts of suicide, let your doctor know." Well, duh! You take a drug for depression and it may result in thoughts of suicide?

Please note that this list stops at 2011 – how many MORE will be sacrificed at the altar of Big Pharma before we, the public, the CITIZENS of the USA demand and get results from Congress? How many more murders that are not listed since 2011? [Does Sandy Hook Elementary School come to mind?]

We cannot force Congress to do anything! Look at the SAVE Act, with 80% approval, even 70% among Democrats, and nothing!! My two senators are liberal, and the answer I got from them is that women who marry won't be able to vote since they changed their name. It used to be POC couldn't get an ID, now it's women. They are insulting a huge demographic, telling them they're ignorant!
Pat, do not lose hope. I have been voting since I turned 18 [in Louisiana, 1953]. I got tired of robot written letters in answer to my Congressional members. So, many years ago I started contacting my US Senators and Representative by going to their LOCAL OFFICES and talking with those employees [best way, if possible] or by USPS to that office or by phone. That has enabled me to become known by visiting in person or by voice recognition. That is still not a “perfect” method but their responses are much, MUCH better – and my personal satisfaction “sits” better for me.
Give it a try. Rush Limbaugh always recommended about 3 or 4 efforts before changing your “assault” methods. To keep doing the same thing over and over again while expecting anything to change is the definition of loosing.
Great idea, although in the past when we’ve tried that we got a staffer. It’s kind of a moot point for me right now because all of my elected officials are Ds, but I’m moving to Tennessee, where I expect they’ll all be Rs!!
Why should either party do anything about it, especially if it help grow government even bigger than it already is? Both parties benefit from this problem, government power increases and personal liberties gets taken away slowly.

I took 50mil grams once a day for about ten years, it worked for me. The biggest hurdle with anti-depressants is finding the right one! I haven't needed it for a very long time now.

I don't condone what the mother did by giving her kid Zoloft, but please stop the hype! Zoloft is not a "mind-altering drug" It reduces anxiety. It's not a hallucinogen. It's not a "strong antidepressant" it is simply an antidepressant, the strength is relative to how much one takes. Also, it's not a "cocktail of psychiatric drugs", the term cocktail implies there was more than one drug administered. There was only one. There is a lot of talk about antidepressants being the cause of violence in children, most of the arguments are presented without any evidence or consideration of the persons life experience. No one considers the sexuality/gender crap being presented in schools, and everyone gets a trophy and a juice box. Kids today can't communicate without a phone. They have no respect for family and elders. They have an over-developed sense of self importance. They can't speak to persons of the opposite sex and these things frustrate teenagers and without proper parenting they lash-out or cave-in. I'm against over prescribing drugs of all kinds, but the hyperbole here is out of line. Look to the family if you want to know why kids are doing such violent things and why they become incels. There are problems with behavior, the drugs are a symptom. The cure is simple family values.

Zoloft made me sick, and when I stopped taking it, the month immediately following had me seriously homicidal. It was freaking insane. I actually planned a mur – der / suicide at work. That is how bad it was. That was after taking this med for only one month and then stopping it. A month of homicidal aftereffects. I am not even exaggerating any of this, either.
That picture suggests that woman has made a lot of bad choices.

DEPENDS ON THE DOSAGE !!!
Yes, LARGE doses of Zoloft can be mind altering . . . however, a family member has been on low doses it for 25 years with no noticeable mind "alterations." Taping her mother to a chair – she needed much more than chemical assistance.

I was on Zoloft for two weeks. I have never felt such apathy for my own well being in my life. It's a monster maker.
This is dumb. Zoloft has been around for 35 years (and it worked well until we let China send us back useless, generic placebo). Where are the 35 years of death and destruction? Answer: nowhere. How many 'school shooters' take an oral medication daily? Answer: none. The assertion is DUMB on its face. The entire organization looks like a group of cranky moms who a. had kids with ADD and b. had a temper tantrum with an accurate diagnosis of their children was made. The group seems delusional. Send them money at your own risk. Also the Hoft twins are usually smarter than this. They like data, they claim. No data here.
It's a horrible drug. I took it for 6 months. I lost all emotions and was thinking about leaving my wife after 40+ years. If someone said my entire family was tragically killed I wouldn't have cared. I would sit around staring at the wall for hours. I quit that crap and started a new program of exercise, a proper diet and supplements. I'm still with my wife of 52 years. Avoid psychotropic drugs, they are deadly.
A huge percentage of these nutter mass shooters like the Columbine killers and The Colorado Batman theater shooter were on SSRI's like Zoloft and Prozac. They're overprescribed and dangerous.

Did any of them display symptoms which could have been ameliorated by taking psych meds?
Where is your data on whether the school shooters to which you refer were otherwise deeply troubled and may have needed different or more psych meds to adequately address their issues?
Are we really to believe that school shooters are psychologically stable and not in need of some psychiatric or psychological treatment?
But this article is completely anecdotal.
I suffered needlessly from depression and generalized anxiety disorder for decades. Their symptoms completely debilitated me. Until I sought the assistance of an eminent psychiatrist 27 years ago, who prescribed meds to me.
Those meds have helped me completely manage what had been lifelong problems.
They have helped untold numbers of people like me.
Let me clue you in on medications: They typically have potential side effects. Almost all of them. That doesn't mean that the FDA should ban them or that physicians should not prescribe them. Same with surgeries. Bad results can happen.
I have read and subscribed to Jim's website for many years and completely enjoyed it. I have enjoyed your input as well.

As an aside, I'm a former St. Louisan who was born on the East side in 1957, who moved to St. Louis in 1962. With no vote on my part, my stepdad abruptly moved us to Memphis in 1964.

School records are a great source of information as to who are the sociopaths! However, due to privacy concerns & regulations it is difficult for any type of legal interventions. Until the laws are changed to protect the truly innocent & vulnerable students & teachers, out of control, violent "children" will be "free" to run wild aided & abetted by their equally sick parents!

We were at the Aurora colorado century 6 theater when it was shot up by another whackjob on meds.
Luckily for us they had just sold out when I was second in line at the window.
We drive around behind the theatre to leave and go home because it was a faster way to get on Alameda avenue and I seen that orange haired freak parked at the back door but didn't think anything of it.
I actually thought he was just licking up and employee or something.
We would've been shot because where the most carnage occured is where I always sit.
Anyway, the resemblance is uncanny as far as kids on psych meds and freakshow shrinks.
These pharmaceutical companies are as guilty as sin over their contributions to these mass shootings. I've been saying it for years if you just took the time to read the potential side effects of these drugs. The other guilty parties are the mental health professionals who prescribe them.
Many doctors are complicit as well.
In the same way that they push drugs for things such as gender confusion.
What is really strange is they give them the opposite drugs of their biological sex. I could somewhat understand if they gave them the medications that matched their biological sex. A boy thinks he is a girl, give them testosterone and other drugs to match hormones that males have. And, vice versa for females. But that isn't what they are doing. Gender Dysphoria is the only mental illness treated with affirmation.
Ever since WHO rescinded the classification of "body dismorphia/gender disphoria as mental illnesses, needing treatment.

These drugs are destroying our children and civilization. I don't condone what he did, but many of us have had a 14-year-old son. The thought of them being locked away forever would be unbearable. We have to do better for our young people, starting by ending all these for-profit human destroying drugs. Enough is enough. People over profit.
Sorry, Zoloft is for people that really need it treating people with it as a medication need to make sure with brain scans that it will work for them, it is for people with depression but the kind of depression that the synapses in the brain are firing weakly or not at all, therefore they have depression, Zoloft makes those firing connections stronger so depression goes away and the person can function properly this is also in some people with mental issues that have weak connections, but you give this to a psychotic or functioning person that their synapses are firing properly, well you make them go haywire, they be mentally messed up in the head and they can't stop what they are going through until that medication is out of their system. It probably had other precautions too, but like all medication it needs to be administered to the right people who need it.
