Report #39 – The UnderDog Says:

Last week we spoke about SACRIFICE and giving up those things you don’t need. Like sacrificing the desires that WAR inside you, like surrendering your fears, your insecurities, and your worries, on a sacrificial fire. A happy SACRIFICE, where you LET GO of those things that are holding your back. But today I want to speak about a more serious sacrifice, the kind made with BLOOD.

But first, I want to ask a question. Who spilled the first blood in the Bible?  Most people would say it was Cain when he killed his brother Abel. The correct answer, however, is that God spilled the first blood. After Adam sinned and he and Eve realized they were naked, God clothed them with animal skins.

Genesis 3:21 (KJV) Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

How did God get those skins? Did the animal’s miraculously jump out of them as an offering?  No, God scarified them, they had to be killed so that Adam and Eve could be clothed. It was the first bloodshed in the Bible.

The second sacrifice mentioned is when Cain offered SOME of his fruit of the soil to the Lord, which was not really much of a sacrifice since he saved the best for himself.  Abel then made the third sacrifice in the Bible, and the second one with blood, when he sacrificed the firstborn (most prized) of his flocks to the Lord. God accepted his sacrifice.

But God was not happy with Cain’s halfhearted offering, and told him. Cain was upset, but God simply told him if you do what is right, you will be accepted. Then God makes a stunning comment directly related to our last two week’s posts (Desires and Sacrifice):

Genesis 4:7 (NIV) If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.

The desires that battle within us are caused by SIN. This sin craves to have us, to win us over by using our desires.  God tells us we must rule over these desires and the sin that causes unprofitable results and battles within us.  It was the Original Sin Adam committed that permitted sin to be resident in all mankind. This sin from Adam introduced death for all mankind, and the need for a new Adam to introduce life:

1 Corinthians 15:22 (KJV) For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

By the shedding blood of animals (never humans like many other religions in the past) God instituted a system of sacrifice in the Old Testament so the Jewish people could atone for their sins.  God required this animal sacrifice to provide a temporary covering of sins and to foretell the perfect and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Animal sacrifice is an important theme throughout Scripture because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22).[1] So how could mankind’s sin be washed away, not covered?

Leviticus 17:10-11 (NIV)  For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.

To remedy this, the entire Old Testament, every book, points toward another sacrifice, a great sacrifice that was to come.  A sacrifice of clean human blood, one without sin and without the original sin from Adam. This was Jesus’ sacrificial giving of His own life on our behalf.”[2]

Here’s another question. If something is dirty, do you use something dirty to clean it? NO, you need something clean, to clean what is dirty. With this truth you now know that any human since Adam could not have been the one to redeem mankind. No one had sinless blood. Unfortunately, since Adam, all of mankind’s blood has sin resident in and is unclean. Adam was the first with clean blood and only the second Adam with clean blood could do this. This second Adam, with God as His father (born with 100% dominant genes from His Father) is Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:44-45 (KJV) There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [Jesus] was made a quickening spirit.

Jesus Chris was made a Spirit so he could deliver the Holy Spirit to us. Partially at first, to give us true fellowship with Jesus Christ via the Holy Spirit that Adam lost; and in fulfillment at a later time when Jesus returns, and we will live with Him for eternality.

Romans 5:8-11 (KJV) 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him… but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

We are cleansed with the blood of Jesus Christ he sacrificed for us. All we need to do is accept Him as your Lord and savior. It’s that simple.  A small price to pay for eternal life. It’s logical, it’s intelligent, it’s a blessing. It’s the way it should be. Turn your life to Jesus and you will be born again. You’ll have the Holy Spirit with you, and I’ll see you in eternity!

  2. Your writing has a way of resonating with me on a deep level. I appreciate the honesty and authenticity you bring to every post. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

  3. Being washed in the blood is the ONLY way! That is if you want an eternity of bliss in Heaven as opposed to suffering terribly in the Lake of Fire. This is why soul salvation is based belief in the death (shed blood), burial and resurrection, 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4, and not of our works. Faith plus nothing! Get yourself saved then the works after salvation starts. It brings joy! Peace
