This evening, President Trump exercised his lawful authority under Section 10 of the Federal Reserve Act to remove Governor Lisa Cook for cause, as we explained he had the right to do in a legal memo on Friday.
Much will be written about how no President has ever before removed a Federal Reserve Governor. But that is not the real story. What is truly unprecedented is that a Federal Reserve Governor—entrusted with safeguarding the financial system—was criminally referred to the Department of Justice for allegedly undermining that very system by committing mortgage occupancy fraud.
The Federal Reserve’s own research confirms that occupancy fraud—lying about a property being a “primary residence” when it is actually a second home or rental—is widespread, distorts the mortgage market, and raises risks for the entire financial system (see Owner-Occupancy Fraud and Mortgage Performance, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Jan. 2023).
Here’s why that matters to Americans: when someone lies on their mortgage application and attests that their second home is their “primary residence,” they get a cheaper rate, lower down payment, and easier approval. Those benefits are only reserved for families buying their first home to actually live in.
Fraud like this drives banks to tighten credit and raise costs, which ends up shutting out honest Americans who’ve saved for years to buy their first home. Every fraudulent mortgage doesn’t just benefit the fraudulent borrower—it hurts the family who is denied the mortgage they would have otherwise earned.
Director Pulte should be commended for making clear that mortgage fraud will not be tolerated. It threatens the stability of the mortgage market and erodes trust in our financial system.
President Trump should be commended for restoring integrity to the Federal Reserve and our financial system.

Cook has REFUSED to leave even after being fired. She will no doubt be playing the “race card”. I expect press conferences outlining how “racist” this president is for firing her. I also expect marches which may turn violent (hope not). Expect the MSM to take up for her while ignoring the alleged mortgage fraud and paint the Trump administration as a bunch of racists who hate all POC, trying to connect this with deportations of illegals.
Count on the MSM painting her as a martyr standing up to tyranny just as they did, and still do, Abrego Garcia even though he has had a final deportation order since 2019.
