THE TRILLION-DOLLAR SNOW JOB: How the Cannabis Industry and Lawmakers are Hiding an Existential Health and Aging Crisis
Guest post by Stuart Reece
I have worked with drug-affected people for fifty years. In the last 30 years, I have conducted 300,000 – 400,000 consultations in addiction medicine. I have over 160 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including more than 80 on cannabis, and two papers in Nature family journals. Our 2,500-page book on the epidemiology and epigenetics of cannabis was recently published by Elsevier Press. I am a Professor of Medicine at two Australian universities.
Because of new results from Harvard research and NIH affiliate data, I lie awake at night worrying about the USA. In a universe saturated by cannabis insanity, we have all heard the industry spin. Is it possible to bring the power of Science to bear on the unholy trinity of addiction, namely deception (lies), seduction (the high, the cash), and manipulation (the cash), all shrouded in fear (and death)???
Cannabis Use Curves
US National 2024-2025 cannabis industry data shows the industry surging strongly forward, driven by an army of 440,000 employees pumping almost 6 million pounds of cannabis from 128 million square feet of canopy into 40,000 dispensaries for a wholesale value of $6Billion and a retail value of $31Billion (note the 500% markup); yielding a mere $5Billion tax revenue. This industry publicly boasts that it is the fastest-growing industry in history. Or as Charlie Kirk famously quipped “Everything smells like weed now.”
The National Survey of Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is an annual nationally representative survey of the non-institutionalized US population. Three key indices of cannabis use are monitored longitudinally, which are last year’s use, last month’s use, and cannabis use on most days. The most days index is key and is widely regarded as a direct measure of cannabis addiction in the general community. All three indices are rising exponentially.
The index for habitual use doubled from 2007 through 2017, and then doubled again to 2023 — representing a terrifying shortening of doubling times from ten years down to five. Importantly, all three curves show upticks about 2007 and 2017, presumably due to either changes in policy and / or perception. Importantly the most recent data is for 2024 which shows last year cannabis use of 22.2%, last month cannabis use of 15.4% and most days cannabis use of 7.5% nationally. This indicates that two-thirds of all cannabis users actually use at least monthly, and half of all monthly users are actually habitual users. Such data proves and documents the addictive nature of modern cannabis on the national stage.
Using the same kind of exponential modelling we used to accurately predict the current rate of US autism 14 years in advance it is possible to show that the exponential growth curves for last year, last month and almost daily cannabis use will cross the 50% market penetration level nationally in 2049, 2052 and 2054 at current rates of growth; except that due to the curve inflection rates growth rates are already supra-exponential and currently proposed re-scheduling will further accelerate these levels so that these arithmetically calculated estimates are already too little and too late.
Once the 50% line of market penetration is crossed, rescuing America from inundation by the cannabis tsunami will become exceedingly difficult in a democratic society… Meaning the window for intervention is fast slamming shut.
Aging
Just as a computer has both hardware and software, cells have both hardware, which is the genes on DNA, and software, which is the machinery that controls which genes get used and when. Scientists call this complex machinery the “epigenome,” meaning upon or after the genes. This is why some cells are heart cells, and some cells are brain cells, etc., because different genes are used. It is also why cells that were once young become old.
In a series of brilliant pathfinding studies the Harvard Medical School aging laboratory and many other leading groups have shown that the biological age of cells can be made older by inducing just a handful of breaks in the gene hardware or re-arranging the epigenetic software.
On the contrary, cells and mice can be made biologically younger and the aging process actually reversed by cellular reprogramming using stem cell factors and new chemicals. In mice, such techniques can reverse optic nerve crush injuries, cataracts, glaucoma, muscle wasting, hair greying, and osteoporosis, showing that these techniques can change major and important age-related health outcomes. These elegant and highly sophisticated studies demonstrate that genetic and epigenetic damage directly regulates the aging process and formally proves this pathway.
And just like the genes, epigenetic changes can be long-lasting and can be inherited for three to four generations.
Importantly, the epigenome is highly sensitive to environmental stimuli such as diet, obesity, exercise, and drug use, including cannabis use. Virtually all epigenetic studies of cannabis use document epigenetic changes. Cannabis has been well known to cause chromosomal breaks since at least 1967. Cannabis was shown to advance cellular age by at least 30% in humans at age 30 years, a level of increase which likely rises with age. Cannabis has been linked with many disorders of older age including falls, heart attack, stroke, hypertension and accidents.
Cannabis is known to damage the mitochondria and cellular energy flows, which are age-defining conditions and directly cause disruption of both the genetic hardware and the epigenomic software. Cannabis has been shown to accelerate hardening of the arteries, induce immune changes and hormonal disruptions which are also age defining changes.
These changes have been found in both eggs and human sperm and inheritance of cannabis induced epigenetic changes has been documented by multiple workers to subsequent mouse generations. Structural and epigenetic changes demonstrate that cannabis exposed eggs and sperm are chromosomally and epigenetically prematurely aged; which means of course that the fertilized eggs (zygotes) are aged from (prior to) conception.
In general genotoxic drugs are known to cause birth defects, mental health disorders including mental retardation in offspring, cancers including transgenerationally inheritable cancers and aging. Cannabis is implicated in all five of these domains of pathology which further confirms its genotoxic nature. These and other areas will be addressed in subsequent pieces.
It should be underscored that the industry formally does not recommend the use of cannabis in pregnancy as they acknowledge its genotoxic activities. FDA warnings about the use of cannabis products in those likely to become pregnant also confirm this at Government level… None of which stops many Coloradan budtenders in numerous dispensaries recommending cannabis to pregnant women.
Genotoxicity is so serious that most drugs which display this action are dropped immediately. Most drugs have to prove stringent safety and efficacy tests before marketing is permitted. With cannabis however the usual safeguard process has been reversed with marketing preceding efficacy studies so that now a drug with widely acknowledged genotoxic effects is undergoing trials to try to find a valid indication to justify its use and dissemination.
All cannabinoids are known to be genotoxic as the toxic portion resides in the inner nucleus of its chemical structure known as olivetol which is common to all cannabinoids.
The painful lessons learned with thalidomide – when US was narrowly saved from the fate of many other western nations – are about to be re-learned with cannabis. Thalidomide is after all the reasons these the modern genotoxic safety tests – which all cannabinoids are known to fail – were implemented worldwide in the 1950’s.
Economic Impact
Applied to the whole adult age range from 18 to 85+ years a figure of 50% age acceleration is a fair estimate of the acceleration of the aging process cannabis is likely to induce. The USA spends around 5Trillion of its 31Trillion GDP annually on health care. AI estimates suggest that this would approximately double if the population became 50% biologically older to up to 11Trillion annually.
People older than 55 years constitute 30% of the USA population, but contribute 60% of the health care costs. If that section of the population older than 60 grew 60% older biologically, which is what the data points towards, then their health costs are projected to rise three- to four-fold, consuming an extra $5-8Trillion per year. Further detailed refinements of these models are being prepared.
To these already intimidating budgetary items should be added numerous other costs not included in aging per se, relating to:
- · mental health,
- · childhood autism,
- · crime,
- · violence,
- · mass shootings,
- · birth defects,
- · homelessness and unemployment,
- · cancer treatments and deaths,
- · the costs of follow-on secondary (cocaine, opioid, amphetamine) addictions, including their associated deaths, and
- · childhood misery, including fetal deaths
- · contamination of the water table
- · environmental contamination
- · wildlife death and deformity
- · food chain contamination for the general population
- · for the next three to four generations.
These concerns are discussed elsewhere.
Call to Action
It goes without saying that compared to these intimidating numbers the derived tax revenues are insultingly negligible/invisible/trivial/ridiculous.
Satan's Salad
Devil's Lettuce
This is why they call it DOPE!
Dims & Libertarians demanded legalizing the ganja. Next on the Dim list of priorities tax the detritus out it.
They are making the weed way too strong. These high THC strands cause major paranoia. I smoked for 30 years. No more. That Silver Back strand took me out of the game. The weaker strands are significantly better for society than alcohol, by far
Marijuana induced paranoia completely depends on the person, and the strain. Potency has nothing to do with it. Some people get paranoid, some people don't. Some strains make certain people more paranoid than others. Typically a sativa heavy strain is more likely to cause paranoia than an indica strain. But again, that's completely subjective and not everyone gets paranoid from pot use.
Your argument about making it too potent is silly. Less potent strains means more consumption to get the same effect. If your pot is stronger, you need less of it.
That's been going on a long time. Back in the 60s and early 70s the pot was natural and came from Mexico. Then Mexico started to use paraquat to kill the pot farms……and the peddlers went to other parts of the world and created hybrids that were much stronger.
More simply, the market demanded stronger pot.
It's like cocaine……which was once used by chewing the leaves. Then it became concentrated and became a problem!

Since the black and white movies of the 1950's, the "Reefer Madness" has restarted. Is it because Pfizer wants to deflect from their dangerous Killer Klot shot during the Covid Madness? Why now? A new virus is starting to make the rounds and there is a need to get the Killer Klot Vaccine swept under the rug? Pfizer needs to sell a lot of the newer mRNA vaccine to cover the estimated losses of several hundred billion dollars to the murderous Klot Shot. Could the deaths of 1.2 million Americans be wrong? Could the deaths of of over 25 million world wide be wrong?
Come on and be the first one on the block to have a relative come home in a box. Quoting Country Joe there.
Pfizer's CEO, Bourla, was a veterinarian who experimented on animals. Moderna was founded in 2010…..named after Modified RNA…..Mod-e-RNA. Both are located in blue states!
The Cannabis ploy is much like the Climate ploy…….pretend one thing is better than the other…….for power and money…….and helping to Dumb Down America! In truth……tobacco was once considered a cure all…….and without CO2 the plants and animals die as the Earth goes into another ice mass extinction!
"Why are lawmakers ignoring the known Science just to chase tax dollars?"
Are you serious? The whole climate change scam was built to chase dollars and control the minions.
The story seems to ignore the massive manipulation of marijuana "facts" and "legality" by "big pharma, big paper, big cotton, and big booze". Then there is the Poison Ivy League creating "privately-owned prisons. Mandatory sentencing should never have existed and marijuana should never have been placed as a "Schedule One" drug.
It's an epidemic. Nearly every young employee I have is stoned all the time. Potheads like to claim it's not detrimental. If not, then these kids must have been missing half their brains before they started taking drugs (hint: they weren't).
My neighbor is a Chinese mafia pot house. There are hundreds in my state due to the evil governor and her brother. The feds say they can do nothing because they are "licensed".
He's right about the weed smell everywhere now. It's so much stronger than regular tobacco.
Yup, I go for a walk, I can smell it coming from the cars driving by. I go shopping, I smell it from customers AND employees. It's like there's no public intoxication laws anymore. And I'm not a prude, I imbibed in lots of things when I was young, but at least we tried to do it on the down low.
It's not tobacco.
I should died 20 years ago according to this BS study…
IKR? By that logic.
"Reefer Madness"
Ya, it's cannabis damaging society – not pesticides, junk food, prescription drugs, fluoride in the water, innumerable unnecessary vaccines, microplastics, COVID experimental jabs of modified mRNA contaminated with SV40, DNA, graphene, WiFi, etc., etc.
Just pick on cannabis – it's easier that way for the boobocraps to explain away all the problems they have caused and have no intention of fixing or cleaning up. Now they are adding in AI data centers.
Stuart Reece is quite the prideful man when giving us his little resume. My only question is did he push and support the COVID shots. I'm betting he did, and that he took at least one jab. I lost complete respect for 'medicine' after the COVID lies and mass murder.
I agree with you 100%. What's killing us and making us sick is right in front everyone and they are just too stupid to understand. Please, save us from the goody goody's dictating what is good or bad for everyone else. Then we got the ones adamant we need to execute everyone who smokes a joint to solve the "problem" Good grief.
I lost faith in the medical industrial complex when they gave my son vaccines and destroyed his entire life. So I knew not to take any covid jabs.
The only reason it's bad for you is smoking it,otherwise it's harmless.
Incorrect
Vape?
50,000 uses thc kills cancer cells kills mrsa kills brain cancer biblical quotes main ingredient in the holy anointing oil the oil in the bible was cannabis oil the incense in the bible was hashish. cannabis is a complete food all amino acids perfect ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 NOTHING in this one sided article mentioning cannabises benefits. A biased completely speculatively one side propaganda hit piece wanting to treat more addicts with the government payola money . gimmee a break.
WTF???
Everyone is free to use whatever they want but the pro cannabis industry saying weed doesn't have any lasting side effects needs to be exposed. Like any other drug it has many and people should be educated on them to make informed decisions.
It would also be helpful if all the past LIES were exposed, as well. I think it is a bit hypocritical for so many here to "forget" those "shot parties" they likely attended.

EXACTLY….HOW CAN YOU CONSISTENTLY TELL ME THE THC VALUE OF DELTA8 IF YOU DID NOT SPRAY IT WITH DELTA8
THEY TAKE A FLOWER WITH LITTLE TO NO THC THEN PAINT IT WITH DELTA8 AND PRICE IT ACCORDINGLY….THAT WAY ITS ALL ALIKE….. NICE AND UNIFORM AND PRETTY FOR THE CONSUMER. LIKE WALMART PRODUCE ( THEY ACTUALLY REJECT PRODUCE THAT IS TO LARGE FROM FARMERS SO WE DONT EXPECT IT EVERYTIME) …..A WEED SOMEHOW GROWS UNIFORMLY AND HAS AN EVEN AMOUNT OF THC THROUGH OUT {EVERY TIME} WHEN SOLD AS A GOVERNMENT SANCTIONED DISPENSARY.
MUST BE MAGIC.
Are the side effects more poignant than say… adderall or vicodin?
Instead of jailing people for using cannabis, make them do labor (cleaning streets and schools) as punishment. For daily users, require a program with work plus addiction support. It was always a mistake to decriminalization or criminalize cannabis. It should be punished without a criminal record, but if the person won't do the require9, then they go to jail. Lawmakers could get valuable labor. Cannabis may add cash to a city, but most people will buy illegal cannabis. So these users end up in emergency rooms, mental hospitals and jails.
if you add up the costs the state ends up spendinv⁶
Legal cannabis is sprayed with pesticides, fungicide and terpene flavors made in labs. It is absolutely unsafe to use that. The regulated cannabis is highly toxic and makes you cough and feel sick.
Ive smoked my entire life. Ive never had an auto accident. I work harder them almost anyone ive ever met. Im in good health. But on the other hand I only use a few puffs at a time once or twice in a day a few days a week. I think smoking massive amounts is obviously not good for your responsibilities or your health. Ive also never used a dispensary since I dont trust them to not spray anything on their flower. Odd the regulated industry has no regulation on not poisoning people and back yard unregulated growing is the safest. Another example of government failure.
I have always maintained that cannabis is a mind altering drug and is unsafe to use under any circumstances.
THEN YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WRONG AND YOU CLEARLY REFUSE TO LISTEN AND OR LEARN. BUT THAT IS YOUR RIGHT IN YOUR LIFE JUST DONT TELL ME WHAT IS RIGHT IN MY LIFE FOR ANY REASON.
The biggest users are Gen Z.
Read this article about Gen z on TGP
EDIT:
As Asleep at the Wheel would sing, "the worst drug of all is that mean ole alcohol."
300,000 consultations over 30 years would be 10,000 per year, or 27 per day, every single day. I don't believe this assertion for one second.
Me neither.
I know a handful of users smoking daily FOR DECADES. I'm in my 60s and a cadre of my HS buddies, including myself, are ENTHUSIASTIC users and our experience is OPPOSITE of this experts beliefs. I believe it RETAINS YOUTH through stimulation of youth hormones per use. I can only offer myself as evidence: my BP is perfect, my calcification is %15 ( excellent at 65) my resting pulse rate is 60 ( and I don't excercise), I've maintained the same weight my whole life, around 140, and have excellent muscle tone, I am lucid and articulate, play several instruments, and have written 3 books. I feel GREAT and have overcome a difficult childhood with Love and worship of God intact. I will have to credit marijuana as a supplement to a good life. Other lifelong stoners are Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, and Willie Nelson.
Good for you but you probably don't smoke all day everyday like most. I have friends that also smoke and they are productive member of society. The problem, I see is that it makes the low IQ lower IQ.
Most people don't smoke all day every day.
You are correct but I wouldn't doubt that 90% of the 13% do and a similar number applies to Democrats. The three dispensaries in my area are always busy. I smell it everywhere I go and in all enclosed areas (stores mostly), I cannot go a full day without smelling skunk on someone. I ask the guys that work for me to wait until after work because a stoned employee is unproductive at minimum and accident prone at its worst. I'm ok with whatever people want to do just do it on your off time.
TO BE FAIR THE LOW IQ DONT REALLY GET BETTER DO THEY? STOP FEEDING THEM AND END THEM IF THEY REVERT TO STEALING BUT CHANGING OUR LIVES TO SUIT THE USELESS IS HOW AMERICA GOT SCREWED UP IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHAT IS THE POINT OF BEING PRODUCTIVE ALL YOUR LIFE IF YOU DONT EVEN GET FREEDOM TO DO AS YOU WISH ON YOUR OWN DOWN TIME.
Good for you, but your current health condition is anecdotal evidence at best.
EXAMPLE: My aunt smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day from age 14 until she died at age 97. Her health was fine for each stage of her aging. No cancer, no heart issues, etc.
Does that prove that cigarettes are safe?
LOL, looks like nobody bought the propaganda. Good.
Then they shouldn't have made pain meds impossible to get because drug addicts abuse them… I suffer from migraines that put me in bed in a dark room for days… Ill take an edible until that changes…
Friends from high school have smoked weed daily for years and all have productive lives…
The pain meds are equivalent to heroin! And many many people take them. I dont know anyone who lives a productive healthy lifestyle who uses pharma meds of any type.
Yes but 2 a month when I get a migraine is not the same as me using heroin…
You know the dentists now send us home with a wish and a prayer as well… F that…
Edibles are not heroin i was talking about opioid perscriptions.
He's talking about two Oxycontins not edibles. Edibles is what he takes because they (gov) made it difficult to obtain opiates.
I UNDERSTOOD WHAT RURAL WAS TALKING ABOUT AND DID NOT TAKE IT AS COMPARING EDIBLES TO HEROIN.
BTW I UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU SAID TO COPA PERFECTLY, WHY OTHERS DID NOT I AM UNSURE.
Not vicodin or codeine… That other crap yes… But they cancelled everything…
Vicodin is a combination medication made from two active ingredients: hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from codeine or thebaine, which are natural alkaloids extracted from the opium poppy plant.
Acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol) is a non-opioid analgesic and fever reducer, commonly found in over-the-counter medications like Tylenol and will ruin your liver.
I do not take tylenol for that reason… In fact I do not take any of the medicines listed because they will not prescribe them…But when they do I use as directed…
My headaches usually come from overthinking the day before. Especially if I stay up late and my brain is racing.
Omg… That is horrible… Mine start with an aura… My field of vision all of a sudden has a wavy spot that grows larger… I can hold my hand in front of my face but not be able to see it if it is in the wavy space… You Tube now has a video that shows what that is like… Hard to explain but it blinds me for half an hour then a lightning bolt of pain hits… I go into a dark silent room and pray for sleep in between my cries and moans…
So an edible helps me get to sleep… Can’t get sleeping pills either because other people abused theirs…
Lame…
OTHER THAN THE OPIOID PART THE OPIOIDS ARE NOT HEROIN. ADDICTION DOES HAPPEN BUT IT ALSO HAPPENS WITH ALL FORM OF THINGS THAT ELIMINATE PAIN OR ARE A RECREATION. WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN SELF CONTROL. THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO RIGHT TO REGULATE MY HEALTH,WELFARE OR HAPPINESS.
WELL THAT IS JUST NOT TRUE.….. THAT BEING SAID, TO EACH HIS OWN AND WHAT EVER ONE NEEDS TO LIVE IN LESS PAIN AND ENJOY THEIR OWN LIVES IS ENTIRELY THEIR CHOICE IN AMERICA…..BIG PHARMA SEEKS ADDICTION OVER HEALTH OF THAT THERE IS NO DOUBT. BUT THEY DO SERVE A NEED. THEY SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY DEALER EITHER
POLITICIANS HAVE WAY WAY OVER STEPPED THEIR LIMITS AND NEED REIGNED IN.
The pain is there for a reason. If your back hurts when you move a certain way it will keep you from moving that way as it will cause injury. If you numb those receptors and move anyways you will be in more pain unless you take the drug perpetually. Everyone I know who takes them is injured for life. Ive done masonry and concrete work for over 30 years steadily. Yes my back and joints hurt but only short term and I just take a day off to recover.
MOST…NOT ALL BUT MOST PEOPLE THAT ARE IN PAIN WOULD RATHER SEEK A PERMANENT SOLUTION OVER ANY TYPE OF RELIEF. NOTHING WORKS FOR ME AND NO MATTER WHAT, EVERYTHING STOPS WORKING AT SOME POINT. MORE DRUGS ARE NOT THE ANSWER BUT SO FAR THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ANSWER THAN 20% RECOVERY CHANCE WITH SURGERIES AND THE DOWN SIDES ARE MASSIVE. EVEN WEED DOES NOT WORK BUT I KNOW OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS. SO I WISH THEN WELL. I KNOW OF NO WEED ADDICTS….. I MEAN I AM SURE ITS POSSIBLE BUT THAT IS JUST NOT SOME ONE I WOULD INTERACT WITH. NOT SURE HOW PILLS BECOME ADDICITIVE AS THEY DONT REALLY DO ANYTHING FOR ME BUT MAYBE 15 MINUTE OF RELIEF AND I HAVE TO WATCH THE CLOCK TO EVEN TELL IF THE EFFECTS HAVE PEAKED B/C I CANT FEEL THE EFFECTS I JUST NOTICE I AM IN LESS PAIN MOMENTARILY AND OFTEN TIMES THAT IS ENOUGH TO PUSH THROUGH AND DO SOME WORK.
I once had a wisdom tooth hurt for 2-3 months. Took ibuprofen every day. I thought it helped because after I lay there motionless not rubbing it or tounging it I felt relief. However one day I was to tired and didnt take ibuprofen and got the same relief as usual from just not moving. After 2 days of no ibuprofen the pain actually left completely and I have to ask if the ibuprofen actually kept me in perpetual pain just so they could sell more ibuprofen. I haven’t taken it since and that was about 10 years ago. Now my wisdom tooth pain comes and lasts a day or 2 and goes away for a year or 2. I no longer take any doctor or medical industrial complex drugs. And have never felt better.
I THINK PAIN RELIEF IS ALL BUT GUARANTEED TO WEAKEN THE HOST OVER TIME. I.E. ARE YOU STILL IN PAIN OR DOES YOUR BODY WANT THE “PAIN RELIEF” WHEN THERE IS NO OR LESSENED PAIN AT THE TIME YOU SEEM TO ‘NEED” THE DRUG. THERE IN LIES THE ADDICTION. FIRST YOUR BODY LIES TO YOU AND THEN YOU LIE TO YOURSELF THEN YOU LIE TO EVERYONE ELSE…..MY TAKE ON ADDICTION. REAL PAIN EXISTS AND LIKE YOU SAID …PAIN IS THERE FOR A REASON SO ELIMINATE THE PAIN. ONCE THE REASON IS ELIMINATED THE REST OF THE PROBLEMS GO AWAY. SO ADDICTION DOES NOT EVER NEED TO COME INTO PLAY. PAIN IS AN ODD THING. EVEN ONE WHO HAS SUFFERED HAS VERY LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OR EMPATHY FOR THOSE CURRENTLY IN PAIN B/C THE LISTENER IS CURRENTLY NOT IN PAIN. A WEIRD PHENOMENA…..
BTW I ONCE HAD A WISDOM TOOTH GROWING PARALLEL WITH MY JAW AND INFECTING THE TOOTH IN FRONT OF IT…UNDER THE GUM LINE….TOTALLY BIZARRE. ODDLY NO PAIN JUST A SLIGHT INFECTION UNTIL IT WAS REALIZED AND REMOVED. :))
Also I agree with to each his own. If someone wants to be drugged and injured for life that’s their choice and not my decision. Im just telling what I see in real time.
All the experts say. . .
Everyone knows it is not good for you
"When I was in college we circulated a petition to legalize marijuana. We collected many thousands of signatures, but then we couldn't remember where we left the petitions."
– G. Carlin
Why are lawmakers ignoring the known Science just to chase tax dollars?
I believe you've answered your own question.
70 million Jeff Spicoli's.
I have used a topical that works great for joint pain occasionally. I don't ingest it though because I know it messed with your mind.
The one thing I get from this is individuals are always different. If you want to get blasted and can do so safely, then the dumb dims should not monopolize the money in it. Operate heavy equipment or access public thoroughfares, then absolutely no. But everyone, including illegal aliens, will accept the convenient opportunities and disregard safety. So deaths happen.
This must not be allowed and that is where the legal issues should reside.
The industry run by government has created a huge waste of resources to enrich a selected few. Instead of a small farm field creating enough cannabis to supply everyone with minimal resources they use indoor grow lights, large buildings, distribution infrastructure, massive amounts of energy usage. And regulation that regulates nothing except the profits.
Just like everything
Yep. When the medical Marijuana and dispensary topics came up here, the only things the politicians talked about were taxes and a method of selecting their friends and family to get the very few dispensary permits available. Absolutely nothing about the health risk and dangers, even though that was their main reason to ban it in the first place. Just another scam. I'm fairly sure the politicians here are taking much more potent and psychoactive drugs than weed.
My proof? Our Senator, lazy, crazy Mazie Hirono.
With special interest groups involved it's difficult to say what the truth is.
The last person I'm trusting these days is an "expert" doctor from Australia who works for 2 universities.
Because of new results from Harvard research and NIH affiliate data, I lie awake at night worrying about the USA.
NOW WE ARE TO TRUST THE SKYANCE? YEAH LETS JUST ASSUME THEY HAVE ANOTHER AGENDA BEFORE WE CONTINUE READING….I DID.
We need hemp. It makes strong rope. We're going to need lots of it n the coming months.
WE CAN OFFSET THE GREENHOUSE GASES BY ELIMINATING THE DANGLERS. ELIMINATE WASTE AND MAKE THE PLANET HEALTHIER. NOT TO MENTION THE HEMP ROPES ARE REUSABLE TOO.
So what? By your same logic we should ban cigarettes, alcohol, corn, and sugar.
Freedom to succeed is also the freedom to fail. Freedom is scary, deal with it.
Governments don't give two shites about the damage done by drugs, weed, alcohol, gambling or smoking just gimmie all that tax revenue to squander and waste.
YEAH? LOOK AT ALL THE PROGRAMS THE GREEN LIGHT FOR OUR SAFETY THEY DONT EVEN TELL US WHY THEY JUST SAYS IT IS FOR THE KIDS AND DEMOCRACY. LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE OF ALL THE GOOD THESE PROGRAMS DO…….
SORRY I JUST READ MY WORDS AND I THINK THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN LYING TO ME. ;))
Brainwashing comes in many forms.
Over forty years ago Willie Nelson was told by people he was going to die young if he continued to smoke cannabis. They are all dead. All things in moderation.
I agree with "all things in moderation". Many don't know what moderation means or they ignore it.
"The soul-destroying reefer":
Reefer Madness (1936)
back in '29 when alcohol was illegalized, it took a Constitutional amendment because the federal government did not have the right to ban substances.
Now, they can ban anything by decree, the Constitution be damned.
I hate both alcohol and pot. Both turn you into tongue chewing blabbing idiots. Alcohol however does more damage to third parties than any other mind altering substance. Example domestic violence traffic accidents, so on and so forth. If I had to make a choice between my surgeon being high, or drunk, my answer is, I'm looking for a new sober Dr. then reporting that one to the state medical board, because that one has an obvious substance abuse problem.
I've always said that legalizing it is a HUGE mistake.
But I'm just a nobody.
Did the pharmas tell you to write this? Tell them I'm not interested in their damn opioids. My pain relief with cannabis actually works and makes me both mobile and productive.
THE BROTHERS HOFT BOTH RETURNED FROM "HEART ATTACKS",CITE NIH & HARVARD NOW CANNABIS IS THE DEVIL…ALA BIG PHARMA SMELLS LIKE THE HOFTS JOINED THE CLUB AND THIS IS THE PRICE OF ADMISSION.

Notice how the pro pot users (stoners) here have developed what they think (and the operative word is think) is an iron clad argument (rationalization) that allows them to continue regularly abusing pot with a clear conscience. (You can't possibly think that they want to habitually feel guilty or ashamed of their chronic drug abuse and dependency do you?)
Chronic pot users are psychologically and emotionally addicted (dependent) and they love to rationalize, fantasize, and exaggerate or downplay the negative effects of long term chronic drug usage and dependency.
Read the TGP Article:
Gen Z uses more cannabis than all the other groups even millennials.
People tend to defend any bad habit they do not want to give up. I've been guilty of that.
I smoked and drank most of my life, but when I started using medical marijuana and it caused me to quit both smoking and drinking saving my health and a whole lot of money! It removed the pain in my back also!
Obtuse, slanted and factually questionable article.
I've done both. Alcohol is much more dangerous drug, and yes, it is a drug..
and? are you justifying pot use because it's the lesser of two evils???
.yes,…and as long as alcohol is legally justified.
Yeah, no. Not in my lifetime has pot caused any of that. Alcohol destroys everything
It hasn't destroyed me but then, I only drink a beer or two daily. Its not the people that use in moderation, its the dopes who don't know or don't care to control themselves and this applies to weed and or alcohol.
Sounds like it was written by Harry J. Anslinger. Not only not buying it, but calling BULLSHIT!
duh…..who didn't know this? And states like oregon making all illegal drugs legal….they want americans dead
A good article and is a wakeup call for me personally.
But everything cited in this article is much worse for alcohol and the studies are better and more numerous.
I suppose the lesson here is to clean up one's bad habits in general. There's a reason that 7th day Adventists are usually much healthier than the rest of us.
sounds like the ole tyrannical govts perspective……CompleTe B.S.
A Drugged Population with Chronic Drug-produced illnesses, poor health and shortened lifespans is less intellectually cognizant, more emotion-driven and therefore easier to deceive and control.
aka dumocrats.
Go ahead, lefties.
Do your drugs, damage your body and shorten your meaningless lives.
All sane people will cheer you on.
Group of friends used to get together and drink craft beers and smoke cigars. Smart, successful guys, good insightful conversations. Until they started getting high that is. They turned pretty much dumb, conversations turned dumb.
Oh, wow. What If we're all just part of somebody else's dream? What number am I thinking of?
3.14 ?
42
Both weed and alcohol are harmful in excess. That being said, I'd rather spend Friday night happy hour playing pool and talking politics, sports whatever..with my friends who drink than my friends who smoke weed.
Zoning out until the munchies kick in was fun until I turned 22.
Right, in excess. Ever seen this: How Beer Saved the World is an hour-long documentary that was broadcast on the Discovery Channel on January 30, 2011.
Don't drink don't smoke weed. The defenders are those reaping profit and those who are habitual users. Potheads always point to alcohol being as just as bad as if that makes the drug of choice more desirable. If you think you need drugs to be happy, then maybe it's time to look in the mirror and make better choices.
Sounds like big pharma paid for this one
Hit Piece AntiCana ! Fact not Fiction on Your Laurels * try Freedom from Persecution and Stay in Australia the King peasants and Court – on Your Knees peasant
Now lets do booze and BTW Willie Nelson is 92 and going on tour. What a crock.
Shocking! Imagine telling yourself it's safe to smoke pot…right over the cliff…
It's as safe as anything else .
Safer.
The sky is falling.
This gets so old. My mind ALWAYS goes to alcohol first, how deadly it can become, how many families and marriages it destroys, and so much more than that. Lost my own brother to a drunk driver.
So humans will age and die sooner? That's the takeoff? SO WHAT? Personal choice and freedom. One can't argue more medical costs due to aging, because, IT'S AGING. OMG. We're worried about population decline? Aging costs will always be there, perhaps sooner for some, but the population base remains the same; perhaps ending earlier.
That gets my vote. So instead of living to 90, you're going to hit 80? And? You're going to miss your NHL playoffs or something? Were you planning to try out for the NBA?
No one touches on WHY people turn to cannabis consumption. And how many of those have fled alcohol consumption in the process? Is the alcohol industry funding or promoting these studies, to keep their profits skyrocketing?
The birth defects/affects are concerning. How about fetal alcohol syndrome?
No one speaks of the positive affects of cannabis, which is why its consumption has been growing so rapidly. I don't hear about the dangers of donut consumption. People LIKE donuts, which is why they indulge. Their choice, their risk. The same is true for cannabis.
The sky is falling. It's been coming down for thousands of years…
and children grow up following their parent's lead.
Your point? My father was an alcoholic. I’ve never been more than a light drinker in my entire life, nor my siblings. I instead learned self-control and moderation. He was also a brawler. Not myself. My mother, on the other hand, was all the opposite. I’ve learned and shaped my life from both.
So are you implying that cannabis users are below-par, by some standard you’ve chosen to live by? In that, you’re WRONG. You clearly know nothing about the experience itself. Some people drink lightly in social gatherings or moderation, and some are fall-down drunks. Some use firearms for hunting and protection, and others for gang-shootings.
You’re not winning any battles by trying to throw it all under the bus. Only in your own mind…
Christs Sake calm the hell down. Not implying anything but the fact that kids do reflect many traits from one or both parents. Your livid post shows you need another puff and then a zanex . Reading into shit makes you stupid.
I admit I didn't read the entire article, because there's only so much bullshit I can handle at one time. Cannabis is an amazing plant that has many medicinal purposes. This article is pure bullshit.
Trust me, I regret suffering through the whole thing. You are better off for it
LOL
my psychiatrist and pharmacist were by far the best drug dealer I've ever had… just saying that there are plenty of people out there willing to take your money in exchange for drugs… 10 years, 2 marriages, a season of homelessness was all it took to get free.. and only by the grace of God and His son Jesus am I still alive. redeemed and forgiven way better way to live than guilty and shameful.
Never happen, the States are giddy over the tax revenue.

Article like this are entertaining, most ignorant commenters got their information from reefer madness.
"Because of new results from Harvard research and NIH affiliate data"
Yes I trust the the people that gave us gruber and fauci.
Lies like this prove that this site is no better than CNN at times. They push TOTALLY false propaganda. I know MANY smokers that have smoked weed for decades. Including myself. Not one word of this is true. So, WHO is behind this recent push back against legalization? The pharm industry? I don't know who else it could be with enough money and influence to put this garbage out everywhere. Be careful what you believe. Even if you hate weed, facts DO matter!
You are correct.
Yes they do and you are in fact the problem being you have no intestinal fortitude to avoid the social pressure. Your facts are skewed from the get go besides nobody listens to "Deal with it" private account posters.
So weed will take out the ones Planned Parenthood missed sooner than later.
Got it. All according to plan.
I forgot.. the thing… heh
As someone who is philosophically libertarian, I say regardless of what the science shows, if someone wants to smoke pot all day every day, let them. But I am always amused by the potheads that jump into threads like these and try to convince everyone that pot is nothing but rainbows and unicorns – no adverse medical effects or impairment from being a habitual user.
As someone who is philosophically libertarian". You are the problem with your smug enabling of a drug that should stay illegal.
So how do you feel about alcohol? How about the vast number of pharmaceuticals that have much more damaging side effects than pot? People have the right to make informed choices on all of the above based on their interpretation of the risk-reward profiles.
Pot heads? lol Go have a drink alky.
From the Cambridge dictionary: Pothead – someone who uses cannabis regularly.
Yes and gay means happy.
Not any more: Gay – sexually or romantically attracted to people of the same gender or sex.
The phrase Pot heads is used as derogative no matter what any dictionary says.
CLOSE ALL DISPENSARIES NATIONWIDEDE
Let them travel to Mexico if that's their life desire. STAY THERE
As you pour another drink……..Your fine with alcohol and cigarettes being legal but cancer killing cannabis has got to go because some people abuse it. Go figure.
Just a particular culture does
People can grow their own it's not call weed for nothing.
If you look real hard, you might find that THC can cause seizures referred to as rebound seizures. One of the many calls to legalize pot was epilepsy – front and center.
Of course you do.
You been using it.
LOL
It does not matter! Why can't people accept simple morality?
1. Everything you put in your body, starting with coffee is "a drug". Biology does not care one whiff about what a bunch of silly humans declare legal or not.
2. It is stupid and self destructive to put any substance in your body that does not improve your overall health and maximize your life.
3. EVERYONE strays from #2.
4. If YOU can use the government's unique sanction to initiate violence against citizens to forbid someone from putting something in their body then someone else can use that same sanction to Forbid (OR FORCE) substances into YOUR body. This is also know as "The only winning move is not to play"
5. There is NOTHING in the US Constitution that could in any insane man's most rabid fantasies be construed to give any government organization the authority to force or curtail any citizen from making their own choices based solely on their personal judgement. Bodily autonomy is THE irreducible right of any free citizen. It is a binary condition. Either you have it or you do not.
SO! Do not complain when the government locks you in your home and forces drugs that are well established to do permanent great bodily harm into your children. If you ever supported ANY government usurpation of individual bodily autonomy then you supported this. Morality can NEVER use the words BUT or EXCEPT.
Nice riff. I'd give my left nut to write like that !
I attended a neurologist visit with family member. The first presciption was medical marijuana. Best results over a 3 year period compared to all the other drugs one is taking. Go figure.
Everything in moderation. Duh. I don't drink alcohol, I think it's 10x worse than weed, from personal experience and seeing others. Yet I don't see the same fervor against alcohol. Even with all the liver disease, drunk rage moments, and car accidents.
What we need is more responsible citizens
The thing I like about pot is the older I get, the less pain I have after smokin it. And I sleep well.
Must be a coincidence that vaccines and SSRIs have been accused of causing some of these as well.

When I saw this "cannabis addiction" mentioned I stopped reading knowing this is a bogus article/report because it has always been known and proven "cannabis addiction" does not exist, it never has existed proven medically.
It's funny ever so often a article is written like this when for thousands of years of human use there has never been any deaths or health problems associated with cannabis use.
Lol So gambling and pornography aren't addictive either, yet they both destroy thousands of lives annually. Pot may not cause physical withdrawal symptoms (that you are aware of), but the psychological and emotion dependency created and the craving to get high and escape reality is still there and is extremely powerful in many instances, and keeps people chronically using.
Can you smoke or eat gambling or porn? Cannabis does not make me high it only eases the pain from nerve damage and helps me sleep and to be honest I've not touched it in almost a week.
Maybe you think I should have the specialist to put me back on methadone 4 times a day for nerve pain.
Every so often somebody release a "so-called report" like this and it's always the same ole horsesh&t.
Lol More asinine pot logic. Perhaps if you just get a little more THC in your system, the present psychosis that you are experiencing will be ameliorated.
Nope just actual facts as well as what the specialists have said over the years.
So you keep believing what you want and if you ever have bad chronic nerve damage pain (that they can NOT stop) don't you consume cannabis you take that chemical poison the doctors give you. Then see how your liver takes it.
I will keep believing what I want, because I am not the one here who is in spiritual bondage to a drug.
And just for laughs why don't you share your actual medical diagnosis with us, instead of some vague non-specific drivel that is meaningless.
Permanent nerve damage at L5-S1 that no doctor can fix for over 40 years.
Bladder cancer – Curied (still getting followup exams to catch it when it comes back)
Colon polyps caught before actually turning into cancer (still getting followup exams).
Neuropathy in feet that keeps me from walking most of the time.
Arthritis all over my body that nothing helps except cannabis eases it.
So you have been formally diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome, are 100% disabled, essentially wheelchair bound, have been self medicating with pot for decades, are drug resistant to any known anti-rheumatoid drugs, and are only hanging on by a thread thanks to the powerful pain relieving psychosis induced every time you ingest pot.
Did I miss anything?
People have been using cannabis for thousands of years and somehow we survived. Hum… doctors tell you it is bad to smoke pot, how come there are more old pot smokers than there are old doctors? LOL
THEY CALL IT DOPE FOR A REASON !
What a retarded statement.
You sound Triggered CupCake !
Not at all, it was just a very stupid comment.
Trigger wa a horse!
Wise up, Karen.
The Bible calls it a herb, I'll take the word of God over any human that has ever lived or will live.
"What's the dope, mope?"
How dare people use a substance that has been used for probably since day one when it was discovered. How dare them, because they could be using those safe and effective billion dollar big pharma drugs. Remember the safe and effective drug Vioxx? How about Phen-Fen, or Seldane, or a long list of other FDA prior approved drugs that killed thousands. And finally the coup de gras, the safe and effective Covid Vaccine. No thanks. I suffer after effects from an autoimmune disorder called Guillain Barre Syndrome that is extremely painful to my whole body. Medical Cannabis is the best thing I have found that gives me some relief.
Ask yourself, how many people have died from the toxicity of cannabis? Not one reported death in all of history since they have been recording it. How many people you know who have died from Alcohol, cigarettes and pharmaceuticals that are all legal?
Big Pharma kills more people with their drugs than all of the illegal drugs combined and cannabis has never killed anyone but is the bad guy that kills cancer……..A threat to big pharma who okayed and pushed a bioweapon VAX. Trust the science that Cannabis is bad by a bunch of quacks that said wearing a mask is needed when the masks boxes said right on them "Does not stop the transmission of viruses"
And the brainwashed morons only have abusers to complain about and want cannabis gone for that fact alone and ignore the proven medical benefits.
Don't bogart that joint my friend pass it over to me…
R-R-R-R-Roll another one, just like the other one.
Charlotte Figi, at 5 years old, suffered from Dravet Syndrome, a rare and severe case of epilepsy that triggered up to 300 grand mal seizures per week. When traditional western medicine wasn't working and her symptoms becoming more critical, Charlotte's mother began looking for alternatives. In 2012 they found what worked. Medical cannabis. They named the strain after her-Charlotte's Web.
Imagine the relief that mother felt when they finally found something to help.
I believe we should be looking at alternatives to the chemical pharmaceuticals. Examples: St. John's-wort for depression, Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid for anxiety.
beware of BIG PHARMA INCENTIVE to squash cannibus
AND! no where in this is there a study between cannibus with out all the growing chemicals used
or the difference between cannibus of old and the new hybridized synthetic poison of today.
Have you had a had a cannabis-induced psychosis, then it's 50/50 you will develop a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder within 3 to 5 years.
Those chemicals they use on it will do it to you every time.
BS
Smoked vs. eaten? Is there a difference?
Happy is the man who doesn't condemn himself in that which he allows.
Deception and the suppression of truth allows the people to destroy themselves in a democratic Republic……it shows you what corruption does to a nation.
Pot use at it's core is a moral issue. Either you think pot use is immoral or you don't. It's similar to other moral issues like adultery and fornication, either you think certain activities are immoral or you don't. But consider also, a lot of people believe pot use is immoral, but they continue to do it anyway because they want to.
It is an insidious social scourge that subtly destroys personal integrity and turns people into dishonest rationalizing liars (when they defend it's use as harmless) and much worse. Stoners lie to themselves and they to everyone around them. Ask yourself if you have ever met an honest thief. It's obvious why thieves lie and it's also obvious why stoners lie.
I've said it before, pot rots the soul, because that's what sin does to humans. Men choose to walk in darkness because the light exposes their evil deeds.
And one thing you take the bank, sinners are going to defend their sins.
Yeah sure. It's not the glyposate they spray all over the crops and it's not all the toxic ingredients in the vaccines and it's not the fluoride in the water or the aspertame and all the preservatives in the food.
No, it's cannabis. How much is big pharma paying you to print these lies?
This article seems a little breathless. Just for fun, I put ChatGPT to work comparing the statistical danger of having a drink or two a week and a few hits of 18% THC marijuana flower against commuting on a motorcycle (around 15 miles round trip), which is how I get to work. Riding the motorcyle is 10 – 1000x more dangerous. I think it's important to keep things in perspective. The actual risk from low use of alcohol and cannabis in the amounts indicated is "negligible".
It is after all an intoxiciant.
Marijuana is harmless, the propaganda told us. Inhaling smoke of any kind is harmful but not marijuana smoke, the propaganda told us. It's not addicting, either physically or mentally, the propaganda told us. There was no harm to society, the propaganda told us. It will enhance your life, the propaganda told us.
The question is, why did they lie to us?
Abusing anything can harm you.
They want us dead. The same people said eggs were bad for you, and the covid vax will stop transmission.
I don't believe a fracking word the government tells me. Not even the contractions.
agree. i think you need to look at another factor: potency. In 1970 pot was like a glass of wine, today it's like a shot of burbon. It's not you daddy's pot. This stuff will flat line you. Well, it does me. It arrests my breathing. It never did that in 1970.
Yup, if they are biologically older then they will die sooner, put that into you calculations.
Liars gonna lie
Existential means beyond existence. So the problem does not exist yet is the problem. A pile of Baloney Sandwich from the research bureau of drink alcohol that kills people and destroys lives daily for centuries and take pills that never work but make you dependant on other pills instead of free cheap weed medicine. Sure whatever. Have another drink, make it a double and call me in the morning. You will feel like shit until the pills kick in. Life is good when you are a weed hating junkie drunk. Just sayin.
Duuuh- why do they call somebody a POTHEAD- it's not a compliment. Look at how screwd up Sean Penn is…..
like cultist to a maga cultist but you cultist are proud to be called a little bata cuck cultist it is weird at least ya'll do follow dress code with your idiot red caps that way we normal sane sober republican can see you idiots a mile away ………………………….. thank you for your attention in this subject………………………….idiots
Would you want your heart surgeon to have been smoking MJ the night before your heart operation?
Gave my Cardiologist a nice bottle of wine AFTER the procedure.
Of course not, but three drinks of a good scotch is just fine. Or perhaps three or four glasses of wine. That will definitely sharpen his wits.
The pro-pot crowd (and there a few of them who post on this site) are very sensitive about this subject. Hey, if it is legal, it is legal. However, we banned filtered cigarettes everywhere, but smoking unfiltered first and secondhand pot smoke with THC apparently has no detrimental effects. Please…
A matter of culture. Please do not lump us in with the chimps in the park.
The right people are killing themselves and eliminating their progeny from the gene pool. Darwin works.
Go back to your martini.
Yes. Please do some homework before assuming a self righteous position.
Wow. That didn’t take long. Your position is pot smoking is not harmful or less harmful than cigarettes? Did you not read this article? It ain’t me saying this brother…
Anything can be harmful if you take too much of it, didn't someone die from a water drinking contest once a few years ago?
That article is BS.
I don’t disagree. I don’t know about this study. My point is pot smoking should be treated as least as seriously as cigarettes and it just isn’t. I have never seen a dangers of smoking pot PDA on TV/Internet ever. Growing up I saw thousands of videos, packaging and billboards against smoking cigarettes for health reasons, especially for teenagers…
It's been used by man for 1,000 of years without any problems. Most medicines contained it before it was made illegal, when they were started to enacting the law that made it illegal the AMA tried to stop it.
The problems many see are from ones abusing it as well as all the chemicals they treat it with growing it and insect control.
Look, I’m not trying to rock your boat, but tobacco and opium have both been used for thousands of years too and they are fully regulated and/or illegal…
Take a big toke of pot. Inhale, hold it, put a tissue up against your lips and exhale through it. There will be a brown stain on the tissue. That tar- like crap gets deposited on the alveoli in your lungs. Irrespective of the psychotropic effects on the brain, good or bad that deposit on your lungs CANNOT be good for you.
If you look at some the other comments here, you’ll realize like I do, this will mean nothing to the pro-pot people…
Just stop. I dare you to compare mj to hard alcohol
Hard alcohol..LOL
One glass of whiskey on ice or one joint, whats the difference?
Say one shot a day and one joint a day…
Booze woild be better for you.
1 oz of alc kills 10,000 brain cells.
Plenty. I bull shot glass of whiskey will lay you to waste. A Sophie not so muxh. But I am talking about 20 years ago
Just stop. I dare you to compare mj to hard alcohol
Except pot is not legal. Not federally and every state that has legalized it has created massive problems that have then spilled into other states.
You are not wrong, but no one will ever prosecute the federal part of it, unless you are dealing across state lines or something…
Just because something is legal doesn’t make it right (cough abortion). The opposite is also true.
banned filtered cigarettes? what are you smoking?
Yeah, where I live you can’t smoke filtered cigarettes indoors anywhere and outdoors only in certain areas. That is what is called banning…
Im not sure you have been around Doctors but here, many smoke and snort…. most dont but there are a bunch that do. So yea, there's probably been a bunch of doctors that burned one ….
No!!! But an antedote. After college I knew a dude who took a gap year before med school, and he spent everyday stoned. A wake and bake guy. He went on to become the Jead of Thoracic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
If a surgeon or anybody comes at me with a sharp instrument they'll have a damn fight on their hands. My grandpa's knife is right in my pocket, ready to go.
Like Karmelo Anthony!
Na, if you come after me armed, I’ll respond armed. I would not go where I’m not welcome in the first place. You know, being white and all…
More than I would want him chugging Scotch…..
Absolutely. Much better than alcohol and cigarettes. It’s doesn’t impair motor skills like alcohol.
Is he drinking? Way way worse
Yes I would ..,,compared to a drink! One real risk of pot is emphysema
You don't have to smoke it.
It would not bother me in the least but not right before he cuts me open.
Yes , since iv seen a few with the morning shakes
"I'm not a doctor, but I did smoke a fatty at the Holiday Inn Express last night."
Yes I like a cigar every once in awhile! lol
That was a great one!
good point, but I'd rather that he smoked a little weed the night before than if he was on antidepressants or a list of big pharm drugs
Funny how no one is talking about the health risk from smoking huh!!
I don't see anyone complaining about second hand smoke anywhere huh!!
We don't need as much attention to smoking ciggies as we do pot–we know from decades' worth of adverts and warnings ciggies are rotten. But the fact that pot tokers have a platform now of legitimacy since pot was legalise (and should never have been), this creates a false "YAY! It's good for you!" platform. Pot is just as bad as being addicted to ciggies and alcohol. TOO MUCH TOLERANCE for pot is out there, and that's destructive.
Smoking is smoking with the same tar+ properties killing people
and others while being high (Not a cigarette problem but Convenient No More 2nd hand Smoke Huh), More killer chemicals in both while are Both Legal!!
Why do you think they call it 'dope'.
Because that word PERFECTLY describes what happens to one's personality and behaviours when smoking pot…."Idiot weed" would also suffice!
Don't do drugs. It's that simple.
1 Peter 5:8
cannabinoids are a NATURAL SUBSTANCE IN YOUR BODY you MORON…your about as DUMB as JOE HERE. The HUMAN BODY PRODUCES the same thing…..FU JOE
The "natural substance" cannot exist in nature. It's fed a cocktail of organic chemical growth formulas along with glyphosates which are now being delivered to your brain, liver, and what's left of your sex glands. Good luck wit dat sheet
lol, nobody is growing cannabis is using glyphosates. This isn't some monsanto crop, unlike like the food you eat every day.
What rock do you live under? Glyphosates are being used in commercial weed operations, do some research.
Yes it is as well as other chemicals especially Premethrin used to kill spider mites.
Guess again genius, it’s all about making money at all costs and they don’t care about your feewings
Our cells also have nicotine and opiod receptors too, so whats your point and why so angry? LOL
See above.
Cannabinoids balance the human endocannabinoid system. They are present in mother's milk. Why would God design a system and then forbid us to nourish it?
He wouldn’t.
Anger is a side effect when intake becomes low…
A part of the addiction.
Cannabis addiction has never existed.
See above.
Cannabinoids balance the human endocannabinoid system. They are present in mother's milk. Why would God design a system and then forbid us to nourish it?
He wouldn’t.
What a load of bull squirt…
You need to read actual science and not high times.
We have read science reports you just don't want to listen.
Think what you want. We did plenty of science based research before writing a medical cannabis app. Sounds like you need to take your own advice.
LOL…gesh..
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
Endomorphins are also found in the body, and resemble morphine, but morphine will damage your body and mind. The same thing is true of endocannabinoids! The natural production chemical does not harm the body or mind, but the massive amounts found in artificially inflated, by genetic enhancement processes, will paralyze your social abilities and destroy your body in not too subtle ways. Yep, heroin addicts work hard to make nonaddicts transform into fellow miserables.
"…but morphine will damage your body and mind."
If you take it long term or abuse it.
The point is that you can’t ‘abuse’ endorphins. The propensity for abuse of morphine is far, far higher because it is relatively available. Heck, my grandmother used to raise poppies, collect the sap, reduce it in a egg poacher and make her own laudanum. As a country nurse, she saw no need to pay high prices to help her patients or jump through federal and state hoops.
Controversial scripture…..the word "sober" has different meanings, but in that verse it refers to being "serious", or having "grave concern". Doesn't really fit the narrative any other way……
Notice alcohol isn’t mentioned. That’s because its dangers are undisputed fact. All these posters chastising pot don’t touch that do they? And don’t dump on me I have touched a bottle or a pipe in 19 years!!
Cocaine and heroin are not mentioned either…
But they destroy as well…
You can try, in your mind, to justify pot, but you fail.
It does have dangerous and permenant ill effects.
But maybe you have a huge lab, and have studdied it intesly, at a cellular level, for a few decades…maybe.
Maybe the legalization of pot is contributing to all the craziness going on right now!
I don’t drink nor smoke haven’t for 19 years. So I don’t need to justify anything
i am sure you can find plenty of articles speaking to the negative impact of alcohol abuse…
your right, alcohol isn't mentioned, also not much said about big pharm drugs.. I call bs on some of the articles findings, aging? people in the "study" had probably used meth or some of the big pharm drugs that are closely related. and I haven't smoked weed in over 40 years
You aren't missing much. Weed in the old days was fun (for me). Nowadays, something is wrong and brutal about commercial weed. Maybe it's the insane levels of THC? I just know that I never got heart palpitations from old weed. Plus, I used to get a mellow buzz. Now, just paranoia. It's just not the same, and honestly, I feel sorry for the kids who think the new commercial weed is the bomb, and move on quickly to dabs. It truly has become the Devil's weed, IMO.
It’s a plant.
The insane amount of THC advertised isn’t the flowers. It’s genetically impossible. The plants are over 70% water.
Hashish has always been around as well.
Everything old is new again.
Alcohol is mentioned many times in the Bible. It is not to be abused or consumed too often, but is fine in moderate amounts. Pot isn't good in any amount, unfortunately.
I think that it's the other way around. "Alcohol isn't good in any amount."
Proverbs 31:6 Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress;
Proverbs 31:7 let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.
Here's some more Proverbs from chapter 31:10 Who can find a capable wife?
Her value is far beyond that of pearls.
ב 11 Her husband trusts her from his heart,
and she will prove a great asset to him.
ג 12 She works to bring him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
Alcohol is a poison, cannabis used moderatly/medicially have never harmed anyone in the 1,000s of years it has been used.
In 1936, Sula Benet, a Polish etymologist from the Institute of Anthropological Sciences in Warsaw revealed solid evidence of the Hebrew use of cannabis. The word “cannabis had previously been thought to be of Scythian origin as Scythians first brought the plant to Europe, but Benet showed it has much earlier origin in Semitic languages like Hebrew. Sula Benet“In the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament there are references to hemp, both as incense, which was an integral part of religious celebration, and as an intoxicant.” Benet demonstrated that the word for cannabis is “kaneh-bosm”, and in traditional Hebrew “kaneh” or “kannabus.” The root “kan” here means “reed” or “hemp”, while “bosm” means “aromatic.” This word appears five times in the Old Testament (Exodus, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel) and has been mistranslated as “calamus”, a common marsh plant with little monetary value that does not have the qualities or value ascribed to “kaneh-bosm.” The error occurred in the oldest Greek translation of the Hebrew bible, the Septuagint in the 3rd century BC, and was repeated in translations that followed.
It is illogical to assume that a plant as important as cannabis, which is such an incredibly useful source of fiber for textiles, loaded with nutritive oils and medicinal properties while also being non-toxic and ridiculously easy to grow, would have gone unnoticed and would have been ignored by the Judaic religion.
With as many benefits (medicinal and utilitarian) that cannabis has to offer humanity, I contend humanity needs to expedite the end of prohibition of this non-toxic plant, and have it removed from the governments drug scheduling listing. There is no valid reason to have our brothers and sisters jailed for consuming this “NON-TOXIC” plant. There is no need to have lives ruined for trying to be healthy.
Bible-believers, specifically, need to thoroughly examine this issue in light of the etymology (the origin of a word and the historical development of its meaning), and the likelihood of mis-translation of “qenah” in the King James Version. WHAT IF God intended cannabis (as opposed to calamus) to be part of the anointing oil?
But your right…
I assume you are a pot head then.
What an ancient cliche!
I assume you are a drunk then?
I think it’s don’t get drunk and FA&FO and mainly to keep a sharp mind.
Genesis 1:29-30
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.
Last I checked pot isn't food, lol.
Check again. It’s a medicinal herb.
Rule of first mentions. It’s that simple.
"Cannabis was shown to advance cellular age by at least 30% in humans at age 30 years, a level of increase which likely rises with age." Wow, just think how old Willie Nelson could live to if he hadn't started smoking weed.
something tells me these aging "studies" had a few that were on meth or psyc drugs that do age people, and make their teeth fall out/rot
Most 'studies' are payed for by some corporate entity looking for a particulate outcome, or
"See it my way and get big bucks" shills who'll twist the devils tail to score!
The alcohol industry is in freefall right now. Especially the wine industry.
Down in Argentina, where I have some property that produces grapes the price of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes has gone from $290 a ton to between 14 and $20 a ton.
Malbec isn’t getting any better of a price.
BS, I've consumed it for over 50 years and everybody says I look alot younger than 69, that is because I don't take drugs/alc. or even the junk food most eat.
Wow, judging by your photo I would say you look amazing.
This is an actual pic of me.
In reality you are looking great. Keep doing whatever it is you do.
amen!
You probably dress like a teenager act like a pre-pubescent- and everyone is laughing at the Man-child behind your back
Take a look at that pic, I dress like every other farmer around here or anywhere else in this country for that matter. People don't usually laugh at someone who owns a machine gun with over 1,000 rounds of ammo not to mention pistols loaded with .357 hollow points.
If you are what you say you are and you just admitted to what it seems you admitted you have a serious problem.
Stupid. Monumentally stupid bragging about anything to do with firearms after talking about weed.
Wow. You just start attacking someone’s appearance, character. Any measure of their humanity because you disagree with them in a message board on Disqus about Marijuana.
Quite the display.
I don't believe everything anyone writes. Especially since my 91 yo father was one of the original pot heads (back in the 1960s) and consumes to this day. Usually he would only smoke street weed and not the commercialised versions.
If he grows in the state where it’s legal, he should give it a try.
The stuff in the dispensaries is garbage.
if that quote above was actually true…. There would not be so many living mexican nationals in the U.S. I promise you.
A Biblical age !!
At 93 years, I'd say pretty well 'smoke' preserved!!
Maybe as old as the oldest American who died last year at 117. Willie is 93 which is almost two and a half decades less than her.
Don't forget Cheech Marin (79), Tommy Chong (88).
I'd love to forget them.
Just for giggles… They smoke meat to preserve it, Ya thinking that's whats going on there?!
I’ll wager that was published prior to the revelation of weed products’ return on inve$tment and taxable benefit$.
Almost 50 years ago I met Willie at a venue where he had just played. It was a real Texas honky-tonk. They shut the doors and Willie and his entourage ordered steaks, and hauled out the whiskey and marijuana. Before Willie imbibed, he and I had a ten minute talk. He was a space case. It was almost like talking to some street corner pothead. The only way he functioned was for his 'handlers' to do almost everything for him. I was not too shocked when one of them walked up and told him it was time to go to the bathroom. I asked one of his pot and alcohol high 'handlers' about that later. He told me that not only did Willie sometimes lose bladder control, but sometimes loaded up his shorts! BTW, these leeches partied until dawn, then didn't leave the two waitresses so much as a $1 tip. Willie thinks the world owes him. He kind of reminded me of Clinton and Obama.
Willie is a Leftie , so there you go . But it did come around for Willie the IRS took everything he had at one time .
Willie's been bankrupt more than once, An Ex wife did him that way too!
Yeah, I met one of his daughters after the IRS evicted her from the house in Round Rock that Willie ‘gave’ her. But he didn’t transfer title, so it remained as one of his assets. She was crying because she had failed to get some old water stained boxes out of the garage. I talked the Federal agent watching the house into letting her take the boxes. They were just photographs and family documents. The Fed was a Marine and I was a former USN Corpsman that spent my entire tour with the USMC, so we spoke the same language. I checked and Willie got into the IRS for SIXTEEN million! And that was way back in 1990. Today that would equate to $40 million. But Willie still loved his bookkeeper, Paul. LOL… I think there was more going on there than some thought, but Willie did support gays and gay marriage.
Very interesting , excellent post . So there is truth into what goes around comes around .
Reminds me of my encounter with Jimmy Page.
I think I’ve met more than my fair share of celebrities. I once bumped into Robert and Ted Kennedy when I was visiting the Capitol. We got caught in the elevator together. I was still in high school and in awe of them, so I got their signatures on my Congressional Pass. Robert was the AG, then. Ted hadn’t drowned anyone at that point. I came home from work late one night while in high school, flipped on my bedroom light (mainly to irritate my little brother) and found a Mexican guy asleep in my bed. He woke up and introduced himself as Cesar Chavez! And he was who he claimed to be. Mom was working on the Grape Boycott, not realizing he was just working on setting himself up as a union fatcat…and molesting girls and young women that idolized him. I bumped into a guy I didn’t know at the time at a lake house party in SoCal while I was in the USN. He went by a single name: Donovan. He was a nice enough guy, but few knew him as an entertainer at that location. My parents were liberal fund raisers, so I met a lot of Congressmen, Senators, and Governors. Heck, Governor Ann Richards changed my son’s diapers when she was just the state treasurer. She was an inveterate drunk, but funny in a mean and sarcastic way. Being around Austin in the early to mid seventies, especially when I was a Paramedic, put me in contact with a lot the outlaw country music people (most were drunks and potheads). My wife an I had were dining out in a nice country music ‘pub’, which had a few private dining rooms. We were the only ones in a small two table room when in walked Ali McGraw and Steve McQueen. McQueen overheard me talking to my wife about a bike I was buying (650 Yamaha twin) and the next thing I knew we were talking bikes like old friends. Meanwhile, my wife and Ali were talking shopping and tourist stuff. McQueen seemed to be down-to-earth and generous. He tipped the waitress $100 (a lot of money in 1972) for not telling anyone he was there. Later I found out they were filming the movie “The Getaway”, but they didn’t mention that all evening. In the background, we had a new country singer playing the guitar in the background. That was Michael Murphy. Later that year I was headed to the lake to set up a boat for a friend’s father and ran up on an old guy, very obese, with his Caddy stuck in a ditch. I was driving a 1974 Land Cruiser and pulled him out. He tried to give me a wad of cash as he introduced himself. Turned out he was in a popular TV series (I didn’t have time to watch much TV) called “Cannon”, but I don’t think I ever saw it. He introduced himself as Bill Cannon and invited me to visit him on set. I never went. Around 1972 a buddy in Rollingwood (just on the edge of Austin) invited me over. He had some friends that were going to jam and he thought I might enjoy it. This was in a private residence with a huge family room with a huge fireplace. The weather had turned into sleet and freezing rain, so there was a huge fire in the fireplace and a kid poked at it with a cheap poker until the thing fell apart. He then started playing the guitar. For several hours I was flat out stunned by his rendition of new and old blues. His name was Stevie Ray Vaughn. Earlier, my wife and I, while visiting her grandmother, heard someone just slaying an electric guitar. She mentioned off hand that was Eric (Eric Johnson). So we walked over to where he was practicing and practicing and practicing! At some point she mentioned she had taught him how to ride a bicycle a decade earlier. Oh, I did get called to a TV station once. During a fund raiser Jerry Jeff Walker fell off a stool while reaching down to retrieve a half finished beer. The problem was that he had finished around 15 beers already, so he fell on his head in the middle of a song (Bo Diddly?). LOL… He was ok. It is true that drunks escape a lot of injuries because they are ‘relaxed’, but they have a lot more accidents.
So I’ve rambled on but haven’t mentioned half the celebrities and politicians I’ve met. Some were just normal folks, but most were vain and heartless unless a TV camera was pointed their way. If I live another 77 years, I’ll meet more…but I’d rather be cruising in my boat in the Keys, Bahamas or the San Juans.
I met Willie almost 50 years ago in a one stop light town in Texas, Played a couple of games of pool with him, sat down shared some beers {I Won:-} One of the nicest performers I've ever met, You story sounds like bull ship Mr. Scientist…
I wasn’t a scientist then, just a Paramedic with an Honorable Discharge from the USN (HM3 ’67-’69) working his way through college. We had been called there due to one of his ‘entourage’ suffering heart pains, which turned out to be gastritis. Hint: Drug and alcohol abusers are often personable people when sober. Only a very young person would be oblivious to that fact.
BTW, my next contact with him was even more distasteful. He had ‘given’ his daughter a house in central Texas, but he kind of forgot to transfer title to her. So when the weasel got caught cheating on his taxes (yes, that “nicest performer” was a flagrant tax cheat), the IRS evicted her and sold the house at auction. A relative asked me to inspect the house for him due to his then geographic challenge (lived on the west coast after his discharge from the Air Force). His daughter was there, trying to take possession of some personal items (family photographs and documents). The Fed on duty was being hardnosed, but as a former Corpsman (spent my entire tour with the USMC), and him being a Marine, I was able to prevail upon him to let her take some old waterstained boxes that had no real monetary value, though they did have some meaning to her.
From my experience, Willie is like the average doper/alcoholic. He is personable when it benefits him, such as when he appears on stage. But off stage and without media representatives present, he can be mean spirited and vindictive. But, I guess you admire all advocates of gay marriage and pole smokers. BTW, that marijuana abuse caught up with him decades ago. Besides multiple arrests for marijuana and mushrooms, Willie has been suffering from emphysema (COPD) for several decades. The good thing is that he can’t remember all the bad stuff he did.
What a shame. The man wasn’t like that back in the early 80s.
I met him after a concert at Tinley Arena in Albuquerque. 1982 I think. Ended up back at the hotel they were in and Waylon Jennings was there. They sat around and told stories all night.
It was great.
50 years ago? Wow! That's when Willie was doing his best work. I especially liked the Red Headed Stranger album. To think, we might never have had that if it wasn't for pot.
In the twilight glow I see
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again
Love is like a dying ember
And only memories remain
And through the ages I'll remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Some day when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll, hand in hand again
In a land that knows no parting
Blue eyes crying in the rain
That song, like many Willie ‘borrowed’ and failed to credit unless sued in a court of law, was written by Fred Rose, and first performed by Elton Britt in 1947! But don’t feel bad, that back slappin’, dope smokin’, Willie has fooled a lot of people over the decades.
Thanks. I looked it up and listened to it. But Willie’s version was much more haunting. Willie’s is mostly just him and his guitar with minimal instrumental backing.
It is far easier to perform better after one has listened to a half dozen previous renditions by other artists. The technology had improved greatly since the first rendition, also. Even stage performances these days have significantly altered voices due to electronic enhancements. Of course Willie’s singing days are over, due to the garbage he smoked for over 50 years.
"Willie's singing days are over"
I don't know about that. He's on tour right now. AND he's just released his 73rd album "Dream Chaser". Pretty damn good for a 93 year old.
He has had trouble even finishing a performance in recent years. Some are very short. And he has cancelled without warning. It almost sounds like elder abuse.
Don't forget Keith Richards
The guy is in his 80s
In event of strategic nuclear war the only lifeforms left on earth with be cockroaches and Keith Richards.
It is best not to consider the parties Keith will throw with his new 6 legged friends.
He’ll be smoking roaches.
So stop drinking alcohol too?
I’m thinking the interpretation is don’t get drunk and stupid.
..
But I voluntarily learned that lesson well.
Didn't Paul advise Timothy to consume a bit of wine for his stomach ails?
Jesus' first recorded miracle was turning the water into wine at a feast.
Alcohol is a drug.
Stop the misdirection and misrepresentation of scripture for your own agenda.
When wine is mentioned in the Bible it usually refers to grape juice.
Someone’s been feeding you a crock of BS. Next time you hear it, ask for evidence, why they’re calling grape juice WINE.
They called things differently back then or do you think languages have always been the same.
The Bible references alcoholic wine primarily through the Hebrew term yayin (used 140 times in the Old Testament) and the Greek term oinos (used 32 times in the New Testament), which generally denote fermented, intoxicating beverages.
Additional specific terms for alcoholic drinks include:
Shekar (Hebrew) and sikera (Greek): Translated as "strong drink," these refer to intoxicating beverages with approximately 7–10% alcohol content, often made from barley beer or fermented fruit.
Chemer: A Hebrew term conveying the idea of "foaming" or boiling up during fermentation.
Gleukos: A Greek term for "sweet wine" or "new wine," identified as intoxicating in Acts 2:13.
Oxos: Translated as vinegar or sour wine, it could be a cheap, slightly intoxicating drink for the poor.
Scholars note that while these terms can occasionally refer to unfermented juice in specific contexts, the default meaning in passages warning against drunkenness (e.g., Ephesians 5:18, Proverbs 20:1) or describing consumption (e.g., Noah’s drunkenness in Genesis 9) is fermented alcoholic wine. In biblical times, this wine was often diluted with water, particularly in the New Testament era, but remained an intoxicating beverage.
Convenient, right? You fail to mention about how they served up the wine Jesus produced at the last, and one person commented that the best wine was served last; that most hosts get everyone drunk and then serve the worst wine in the end.
“Get everyone DRUNK”. Give it a rest.
I get so tired of this rhetoric.
1 Peter 5:8
..
It’s there for all to see without misdirection.
50 years ago, when I was 24 years old, neighbors induced me to 'try' smoking a joint. Only took a couple of puffs on it. I was sicker than a dog right after. All day Saturday and Sunday, I had unrelenting dry heaves. I thank God for that, because it taught me a valuable lesson. I would never, ever, take an illegally made drug or mj.
If it's that "simple", then perhaps you're a simpleton not capable of thinking deeper. This is 100% BS put out by the pharm industry. But you will believe what you want to believe. No doubt you also say you won't take the vax. But you buy into this pharm pushed BS. SMH
Take your dose at will, Don. Typically, smart people won’t.
I agree. But marijuana is the controlled substance drug. There are other legal drugs that people injest daily like nicotine and caffeine. And many big pharma controlled drugs that are far more dangerous. Then there is the strong street drugs that people shoot into their arms like fentanyl , being one of the worst. Then there is the far harder one that people do not understand, the drugs and poison that is put in our food chain.

Same for alcohol, tobacco and caffeine.., where do we start ?
Caffiene is a drug btw
This issue is just too complex for black and white lectures and articles I agree that children and young adults (who plan on having kids) should stay away from cannabis and other drugs. But I don't want to be lectured about its possible bad effects especially for senior citizens. I have an incurable bone marrow cancer that has wreaked havoc on my spine. Constant pain mixed in with the dagger over my head of "when will I relapse" or "when will we run out of chemotherapies to use on me". I take cannabis, but I limit it to once a week. I deserve a good night's sleep and some relief from my pain! It's available, and I'm using it. And I don't care what any experts or church ladies think of that!! (or what 1 Peter 5:8 says.)
Of course I agree with that. Medical benefits are innumerable. Some souls are dependent on drugs to merely live and that isn’t an argument deserving of any time to listen to some asshats lecture.
Curbing drunkenness and irresponsible drug use – from the party to addiction, the deaths in between aren’t beneficial and the pain never goes away.
Yes, and we don't need an official nanny figure to tell us that.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
It’s a mystery why people want to risk their psychological and spiritual well being to imbibe a powerful psychogenic, THC.
1 Peter 5:8 2021 Legacy Standard Bible Be of sober spirit, be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Tragic the 2 corrupted, deceived down votes at whom Satan laughs, seekiing to devour them.
I've known about the dangers of cannabis since high school (1980s). The findings of these studies just reinforce what we were to told then. And one of the most dangerous aspects of addictive cannabis use isn't even discussed here — the gateway that cannabis is to other addictive drugs. It has a much wider destructive path than anyone it talking about. Marijuana is and always has been a blight on America's soul. Now that it is achieving wider acceptance, it threatens us in ways that are unparralleled by the countless other dangers we take more seriously. America must wake up before it's too late.
some censorship will help them
But Alcohol is legal and it can be argued it is THE worst drug on the planet. The glaring reality is that no amount of laws, law enforcement and punishment will stop people from taking drugs and stem the flow of drugs to them. This has been going on since the national disaster known as Prohibition which the only result was to enrich organized criminals. It is impossible for government to legislate temperance and morality. I’ll be honest and say I don’t know the solution but something, anything different needs to be attempted but it is naive to think laws and law enforcement will make any difference.
People who tend toward abusing a substance (ciggies, pot, drugs, alcohol) ALL HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON: They do not know how to COPE with anything in life. It really comes down to NOT "heredity" but how one was reared.
I agree. People who get consumed by substance abuse to escape reality get into the vicious circle because reality is always still there.
“Life is inherently difficult, characterized by inevitable suffering, tragedy, and chaos. Pain, uncertainty, and loss are fundamental realities of the human condition. Accepting this reality and taking on personal responsibility is the only way to build meaning, resilience, and true strength. When life feels overwhelming, the solution is not to seek a life free of struggle, but to find a purpose so meaningful that the suffering becomes a worthwhile trade-off.”
– Dr Jordan Peterson
Seemingly smart post but actually an ignorant one.
When you see the meltdowns of people who can't cope with hard things and they turn to drugs or booze to soothe their angst, you see the better picture for the growing irresponsibility of rotten parenting, folks who don't teach their kids how to manage themselves.
No they do have valid points.
It';s a mental disorder!
Can't argue with that–not teaching kids how to cope with anger, disappointment, sadness, happiness, etc, means these kids are growing up and developing mental, emotional, psychological disturbances that only get worse as they age.
I was "reared" by moonshiners, I don't touch the stuff I've seen what long term use does to a person. Which is why I smoke a little cannabis once in awhile especially when that nerve damage in my spine starts acting up or do you suggest I tell the doctor to put me back on methadone everyday for the pain?
The specialist said I was taking better care of it than they could or did.
You seem to have your life, emotions, psychology, etc under control, so I'm guessing you are not addicted to this stuff…..
There is not addiction to cannabis, that has been proven for as long as I have known what it was, my grandmother grew it when she lived in the mountains to make in a herbal tonic, I'm 69.
I can take it or leave it, like I said in another post I've not touched in about a week because I've not needed it for sleep or pain in my spine and I feel fine.
That's fine, it's your life and you are probably getting medical marijuana right? What is your opinion of recreational use and the problems it causes based on this article?
No I grew my own for YEARS since I lived on a farm.
What most get now is out of a "shop/store" depending on the quality control some use OR some don't you never really know how it's grown or what they use to control insects, there is the problem and it's starting to show up.
Recreation use can mean several things "constant use or say smoking a little at night before bed to relax or just once in awhile.
Constant use is NOT good for you, relaxing at home taking a few draws to relax like many do with a glass of wine before bed or just once in awhile isn't going to harm you, yes you will have rare instances that a person can not take it but that holds true with alot of things.
This article can not be trusted or taken at face value since it leaves out so many varibles.
If a person choice to NOT consume it that is their choice and I'll support them in that choice, but if a person does decide to consume it I HIGHLY suggest they grow their own without using any type of chemicals.
But it is NOT a sin like many think, it IS a herbal rememdy. But with that said if a person choices to use it just for the fun of it then that very well may be a sin.
My point is that it doesn’t matter whether it is good for you or not. It is nobody’s business should a person wish to smoke a joint. All the particulars are of secondary importance.
The way we learn is by making mistakes and trying different methods and solutions. When the government takes that away from us it takes away our freedom.
Part of this freedom is that should we make the wrong decisions then the consequences should be felt exclusively by the person who made the wrong decision. This is the best way to learn.
I don't believe the death penalty was implemented during prohibition. That would make a dent in the sale and use of drugs.
Really, then let’s round up every liquor store owner and put them to death. Get caught with a beer ? Death.
Yes! Ah uh what were we talking about?
Look at what pot does, where it comes from….the DRUG CARTELS control this industry. The alcohol industry is not overburdened with shocking crime syndicates controlling it. The damage from pot is far, far worse than alcohol if one tracks the product's origins to its after-effects of consumption.
You have no idea what you are even talking about. In states where cannabis is legal, it is all tested.
Your lack of any historical background is disturbing, but then most USSA, INC citizens are failing school and life.
Your lack of crime and the illegal drug industry is astonishing!!!!! WOW!
LMAO! All the legal cannabis is tested. I have no idea where you live, but it sounds like you are smoking dirt weed. It's destroyed your cognitive abilities, if you ever had any!
That's a crazy statement. Alcoholics get drunk, beat their wives, drive like maniacs, run over children, etc., etc., etc… Weed heads, smoke, eat, & pass out
I said look at where these drugs come from–the tortures, the murders, the slavery, the corruption of making and delivering pot all over the world is horrendous. It's not like that with alcohol. However, you notice what ticked up after pot was legalised in most states? CAR ACCIDENTS. So it's just as awful as alcohol in the after-effects, but the process and progress of the drug from growing/collecting to deliveries is horrendous.
You need a bong hit
I'm like Geoffrey Holder of that old 7-Up commercial when it comes to drugs, booze, vaccines: "NEVER HAD IT, NEVER WILL."
You need the death penalty
There was an informal version of the death penalty during prohibition:
If you got some of the poisoned stuff then you were a goner.
Oh give it a rest.
I agree with that argument. We can't put people in jail for smoking weed. This article may be the first in a long series of attempts to inform the public about the health risks and encouraging them to stop. That worked extremely well with smoking cigarettes I think.
The effects may be bad long term, but the projection of over 50% chronic use is ludicrous. Maybe in certain cohorts, but not among the general public.
Oh, trust me–it's 50%. As a former high school public ed teacher, 90% of all the kids use pot, drugs, alcohol, etc. In college it continues (my husband is a professor). Try testing ALL the employees at a hospital, a construction job, any agency, and you will find at least 50% have pot, alcohol, or drugs in their systems….
Many of those people are unemployable. Cops, security guards, military, truck drivers, etc. all need to be clean. Sure some aren't, but they do get tested.
They get tested early in their career, and periodically thereafter. But boy, if you were to test them every few days they would light up the chart!!
So would you worthless public school teachers. You should also be given lie detector tests just like Pedos get, because it seems many of your are sexual predators, especially the women teachers.
You are arguing with a public school teacher (i.e. commie) who's husband is a supposed college professor. If they aren't high, they are teaching LGBTPedo garbage and/or molesting kids. Public school teachers should be the first group drug tested.
PURE hardcore conservative here–I LEFT the teaching profession when my principal told me I couldn't use the ORIGINAL Huck Finn for my class, but had to use the district-approved, rewritten version of it. My husband also left HIS profession at Miami Univ because they blacklisted him for owning 25+ guns and being a hunter, trapper.
LMAO! Sure thing lady!! So those dope smoking libtards screwed you!!
Those pinko commies have ruined every aspect of our students' lives from pre-K right through college graduation. Not having any part of that crapola. We are farmers now because all world puke govts seem to hate farmers, so we became farmers out of spite to climate freaks, liberal ideologies, and because we aren't eating the bugs…..
You would be surprised. There are areas where everyone is using, it's a numbers game!
Not where I live and I live in a blue state in whats still considered an affluent area. In my opinion 50% is right on the money.
Good grief if you abuse anything it will be detrimental to your health. An old friend of mine drank whiskey every evening to unwind and he died of liver failure at age 50. On the other hand, I've smoked pot for 45 years now without any issue because I only smoke it casually and not everyday, all day like some idiots who will eventually develop either outright psychosis or another malady.
My dad smoked cigarettes from age 16 until his death at age 85. He was an amateur golfer…..so yes it's about the amount and personal lifestyle and genetics.
Thats what all psychotics say.
Well, we have cannabis receptors in the neural structures, but none that match alcohol…then, there's the "essential" oil benefits. Like the peppermint tree oil in my toothpaste. (cold press)
Opiates make me PROJECTILE vomit, hard. Not happening.
ALL THINGS IN MODERATION
Fun fact: Did you know that many alcoholics are able to give up booze when they use cannabis?
Unlike alcohol cannabis will not destroy your liver. Sure both are not good for you but one is far more worse and that would be alcohol.
More fun facts: Did you know that the alcohol industry was the primary backer of making cannabis illegal?
More fun facts: Some of our founding fathers smoked cannabis on occasion.
More fun facts: Many of the drugs routinely prescribed for seniors do far more damage to their bodies than cannabis.
So, you will continue your habitual use.
Good luck with all that.
The average senior 65 and up is using about 9 prescription drugs. Those are causing enormous damage to their health. One drug fixes one thing but causes another so the doc prescribes another drug and so on and so on. I know a lot of seniors who have given up drugs like Gabapentin and similar to replace them with cannabis and report very good results.
That doesn’t change the story and it wasn’t talking about medical uses….was it.
Use in general. You should do a little dive into the prescription drugs you're probably taking. Many of them are slowly killing you and making your life deteriorate. I've never heard of anyone dying from a cannabis overdose.
That doesn’t change the story and it wasn’t talking about medical uses….was it.
Go ahead, light up. Your health is of no concern of mine.
I don't smoke anything. Smoking is bad for your lungs. However the active ingredient THC and CBD have very beneficial effects for a variety of conditions when used properly like most pharmaceuticals.
I imagine you have about 10 meds you take daily if you're a senior. Look them up and check out the side effects. You are being slowly poisoned and your life shortened. One drug fixes this but causes that, so the Doc prescribes another to fix that, but it too causes another problem and so on.
Genesis talks about how man was taught to use the plants to cure illness by fallen angels. Nothing has changed, we have a virtual pharmacy in nature but people have been convinced that only big pharmaceutical companies who concoct patented drugs will help.
Cannabis is just one of thousands of drugs we have at our disposal in nature. It is ignorance and propaganda propagated by big pharmaceutical companies that keep us in misery because it is not profitable to sell natural remedies.
Did you know that until about 1933 one of our major pharmaceutical companies sold California Poppies in various forms to be used as a sedative. That is when they decided to get away from any natural remedies as the profit margin was too small. California Poppies grow all over the place and the entire plant can be used so it was just too easy for the consumer to make their own meds.
I don't recommend using anything in excess. Too much Vitamin B-12 or Vitamin D can be harmful but taken in the correct dose very beneficial. Same goes for Cannabis.
Try opening you mind and not letting Big Pharma do your thinking for you.
I take NO medications of any type and I never have. I DO, however, take a multi vitamin.
No illegal drugs either….EVER !
Nobody thinks for me.
"Some of our founding fathers smoked cannabis on occasion." – But they didn't smoke the highly potent GMO cannabis of today.

Why is it always a "Fun Fact" when some Leftist drug addict c ~nt shows up with fake facts quoted from long debunked High Times? All of your fun facts are lies and have long since been debunked. High Times magazine is not a legit news source.
Did I trigger you? Too bad. There are many seniors who use cannabis daily instead of the damaging drugs docs want them to take. The stuff is medicinal and that is a fact. If you take too much aspirin it can cause you damage. Just use common sense and use it in moderation.

If you take too much aspirin it can cause you damage. Just use common sense and use it in moderation. Oh and stop being such a vulgar jerk and try to converse with some dignity.
What these studies purposely leave out is that one, the globalists OWN most of the growing fields and two, they are growing them using a TON of chemicals. This is NOT the pot of the 70' 80' etc. The legal pot today is no different the chemical laced cigarettes, food and vaccines.
Take notice that is was not until AFTER "they" became the growers that the problems came. People have been smoking weed for centuries and we did not have these issues. Take out the chemicals and the problems go away. It may not be as strong but the benefits will still be there.
If you live in a state like MO you can grow it legally and pure.
FUN FACT: Smoking pot daily causes neuropathy and diabtes in your 40s, impotence by 40 and death from kidney failure in your 60s. It ages you because it inhibits cell division. This is why pot smokers don't heal when wounded.
Science guy lol
Uhhh, no it doesn’t. I know a lot of seniors who use it daily instead of the deadly crap most docs want them to take.
Uhhh, no it doesn't. I know a lot of seniors who use it daily instead of the deadly crap most docs want them to take. (you can't even spell diabetes and you want to give advice, WTF)
You have to ignore a whole host of pharma drugs.. including killer vaccines to come to this conclusion. Environmental toxins and a substandard (to say the least) food supply must also be ignored.
The author is probably all for pig pharma psyche meds that have contributed to mental illness around the country.
As always, they scapegoat.
Smoking cigarettes is bad and must be banned everywhere, but smoking pot is said to be good and must be promoted everywhere.
Explain that idiocy.
You can't smoke pot in any areas where smoking is prohibited. Any other brain busters?
You are only referring to just the harm of second hand smoke, the war against tobacco was based on it was unhealthy and addictive resulting in health problems for the smokers.
How is this argument any different than the harmful effect of pot, which has the added detriment of cognitive impairment?
Charlie Kirk had it right, I smell weed everywhere I go too!
Everything in moderation and the dose makes the poison are fair statements to make but the problem with it's legalization is that it seems like every dumb person out there smokes it 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and especially blacks and Democrats. Whenever I am near a 13%'er, all I can smell is skunk.
Weed is making the dumb % of society even dumber!
SORRY THAT SMELL IS NOT THE WEED THOSE INHUMANS STINK LIKE THEIR BRETHREN ALSO LOCKED IN CAGES IN AMERICA.
Back in the day a reefer one joint or one doobie was enough weed about a cigarette amount was enough to be charged with a felony. And there were those situations. Making it a felony then or now is not the answer. Reefer madness was the education movie of that time. I agree with RBC below about moderation for some and non use for others. EDUCATION is hard to get when its controlled. This is also not the same Marijuana today as natural grown its different. Just like cigs have addictive chemicals added.
YET LAWS PROHIBITING THE GROWTH OF THE "HOMEGROWN" WEAKER STRAIN STILL REMAIN.
JUST WHO PUT THOSE CHEMICALS IN THERE? THE NIH,HARVARDS AND GOVERNMENT DID.
Yep, Reeder Madness was a documentary that didn't go far enough–LOL, LOL!
Marijuana would have never been legalized anywhere if the government wasn't making billions of dollars off of it. People would still be using it, though. People huff spray paint and brake cleaner too. It's not complicated. Happy people don't have to get high.
Amen to that Smokin. The only thing that needs smoke is a good cut of beef.
D8mn….now I'm "hongrey".
When this country was being built and made into a great nation cannabis was legal and in many of the medicines people took.
Good comment. Drugs were never a problem until the government started trying to fix their declared drug problem.
I cannot find that article of the Constitution that gave Congress the right of expending the money of its constituents on objects of public health.
Oh, I'm in favor of legalized marijuana for many reasons. I think people have a right to use it like anything else. I just despise that it's constantly singled out and blamed for side effects that pale in comparison to most prescribed and FDA approved drugs that people eat every day. Most people just smoke marijuana to get high, but I know a few people who use it for medical reasons. It has many valid applications.
Yeah, well. My evidence of why to not partake in cannabis is pretty simple. People in government are now telling me it's good.
If that doesn't make you skeptical, then you are lost beyond finding.
Good point. It's the same government that gave us covid "vaccines" and a million life-shortening medications for all of our ailments, real or imaginary.
The potheads will come screeching to Protect their Sacred High
It's NOT the 60s thru 80s weed anymore. With all the hybrids and science, it's an addictive substance that, unlike nicotine and caffeine, causes significant health (mental and physical) problems in a shorter amount of time.
For Over a Century, the Number One 'addicted' substance in the United States was Alcohol.
In LESS than 20 years of 'legalization', Marijuana has surpassed Alcohol as the Number One addicted substance. Marijuana has held that Number One spot for 5 years now.
On another note;
Every State that has 'legalized' Marijuana, has had a Significant Increase in Marijuana-related Fatal Traffic Accidents (Hundreds per Year on average).
Driving High is Just as, if not More, DEADLY as Driving Drunk
And talk to the drug counselors, the occurrences of adding alcohol with today's pot increases the likelihood of violence very high! And courts show this.
Common sense = The Left has been pushing legalizing weed for decades until they've got it. Nothing good about it, obviously. And we all know, including the "reefers" what's behind it. ;)
When you take someone who is dishonest, stupid and lazy to begin with …. then they consume plenty of weed or other substances …. well …..
Well…..it looks like US has plenty of dishonest, stupid and lazy people. Just sayin’.
Example could be Colorado. Even the government there is stoned.
AS soon as I read NIH…. I stopped wasting my time on this article. COVID-19 brought to you by NIH!
I know many people that have wrecked cars while boozing
I know no one that wrecked a car from smoking a joint
Alcohol industry doesn;t want to loose the business
Maybe someone can explain why tobacco is bad for us, but blowing pot is healthy?
Agreed. Putting any kind of smoke in your lungs CAN'T be good.
But, it generates revenue for worthless bureaucrats .
Nicotine has been shown to block Covid spikes.
I call BS on this propaganda.
What they don't tell you is that if you smoked THC all your life there is a 99.9% chance you will never get Cancer.
So how do we explain Willie Nelson? He turned 93 in April! But there again he has increasingly moved left over the years. Now he's a whacked out liberal so there could be some truth in the reduced mental health category.
HAAAAAAAAAAAA. Willie has been squarely on the left since the get go.
Stoner Willie Nelson admitted smoking pot on the White House roof when Jimmy Carter was the President. Look it up

Funny, we never heard a peep out of these vaunted institutions re: dangers of the jab. Cipro is another one that needs taking off the market. A great antibiotic that will blow out your Achilles Tendon or maybe your Aorta. Feeling lucky?
Because of new results from Harvard research and NIH affiliate data, I lie awake at night worrying about the USA.
NOW THESE INSTITUTES ARE A BEACON OF INTEGRITY AND THE GOLD STANDARD OF TRUST????
BIG PHARMA GAVE JOE A HEART ATTACK AND HIS BROTHER JIM SUFFERS SIMILAR HEATH STRUGGLES. {LIKELY POISONED BY BIG PHARMA.}
YET THIS IS WHAT KEEPS JOE AWAKE AT NIGHT???
NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK…..WHY SUCH A CONCERTED EFFORT AGAINST SOMETHING THAT HARMS NO ONE BUT THE USER? WHY IS THE ANCIENT PROOF OF THE BENEFITS DISCARDED BUT NIH/COVID ENFORCEMENT & HARVARD/COVID PROMOTION FOLLOW THE SKYANCE THE SOURCE WE ARE TO NOW TRUST?
WANT ME TO QUIT….HAVE FAUCHI ENDORSE IT….. AND YOU GOT IT.
I don't smoke, never have; but I certainly have been harmed by chronic pot use in the family.
Also by criminal enterprises of my immediate neighbors selling drugs and thus bringing crime, prostitution, stoned underage kids vandalizing the neighborhood, and high traffic into the neighborhood in the middle of the night.
So the bullshiite about pot use not harming anyone but the user is a huge lie.
Read this very telling TGP article on Gen Z:
Gen Z uses more cannabis than all the other groups even millennials.
LISTEN F STICK. THE STORY WAS ABOUT HEALTH EFFECTS SO PUT WHAT EVER DRUG YOU ARE DOING DOWN FOR A MINUTE AND LISTEN. I CLEARLY SAID END THE ONES COMMITTING CRIMES TO GET THE DRUGS AND SEE THERE ARE CRIMES COMMITTED BUT THEY WEED ITSELF IS NOT THE ISSUE. LEGALITY OF THE WEED MAKES IT A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE….THUS CRIMES ENSUE. YOU CAN NOT BLAME WEED FOR SOMEONE COMMITTING ROBBERY. WHATS NEXT BAD CHILD HOOD MAKES CRIMINALS SO BAN BAD CHILD HOODS OR DO WE FOCUS ON THE CRIMES WITH OUT BLAMING THE GUN,WEED OR BOOZE?
CONFLATING CAUSE AND EFFECT TO BLAME ONE OR THE OTHER IS JUST IGNORANCE CONFOUNDED BY STUPID TO SHIFT BLAME AND NOT FOCUS ON A TOPIC.
Uh, this was written by a guest, not either Hoft
I AM AWARE BUT MY POINT WAS …WHY IS HOFT HOSTING AN ARTICLE WHERE HARVARD AND NIH ARE CITED IN THE STUDY. COVID TAUGHT US THE VALUE OF THOSE TWO INSTITUTIONS.
He said you enjoyed it the last time.
YEP–it's also really hard when idiot parents of the late 80s and onwards created the whole, "No losers," no failing grades, and all those participation trophies so kids wouldn't get their feelings hurt, too!
After the covid wool pulling fiasco, and all the dead because of it, I HAVE to ask HOW MUCH WERE YOU the author PAID and by WHO? If I were a betting man I'd say big pharma rewarded you nicely, But that's just it… You can't trust nobody anymore!!
This… came out when I was a young man, I remember it! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9905fe84ad3c112293c765ab7b765b35e875ad268628c5d3dd868af4062986b7.png When I joined the military, It was EVERYWHERE, you couldn't turn a corner without running into some form of it, I remember foot and a half plants growing outside the barracks edge, when mowing season started, where the end of their funny cigarettes would end up after throwing out the third floor window, Military CID came thru and polled class I was in, out of 103, 98 used some form! Same type atmosphere at the college I attended… Sure seems to me there are A LOT of hypocrites in this world! AND yet I don't see ANY OF WHAT IS PORTRAYED IN THIS ARTICLE! Much of what is stated here has Already been attributed to OTHER things we as a society experience, vaccines, chlorine in the water, preservatives and dyes in our food… ETC.! Just ask Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Secretary of HHS!! It's past time to bring out the Antitrust laws and go after these big corporations!! They manipulate so much in the chase of profit a Ferengi would blush!
My nose sensitivity picks up burning marijuana. I can be driving on the Interstate and I can smell it. It's nice to know that there are stoned drivers in my vicinity going 75 mph. If I hire a workman to help fix something at the house, about 50/50 I'll smell it on them. Some of this "new stuff" smells like burning skunk 8ss.
Jim! Look at Willie Nelson. Studies also show THC lowers inflammation and stress in the body.
Willie had a ruff life too.
This article was written by a neoliberal hack. Just like the left EU, the author wants to control what farmers, gardeners grow. He is prepared to lock people in cages to force his way — fascism.
The author also wants to control what agricultural products we consume. This idiot is no different than left-globalists who want us to eat bugs and own nothing.
The totalitarian fanboy who wrote this is also a village idiot. Alcohol is much, much more dangerous than THC. Yet like liberal climate hoaxers, facts don’t matter to this dolt, this Karen who wants to control others.
Does he support the prohibition of alcohol?
The dumbing down of USA
call your Reps in PA, our Governor is promoting this for Penna. Yet thankfully seems many younger people are not using this horrible drug.
Fentanyal makes you higher?
Yeah, if Waylon, Johnny, and Kris had stuck to pot, they might still be here today.
I had 3 back surgeries and was on all the opioids for a while, so before the last surgery, I had to stop all medications 10 days prior. Even with the doctor stepping me down off of all of them, I still went through withdrawal. I'm sure it was mild compared to people going cold turkey, but it scared the living crap out of me. I vowed to never put that crap in my body again. So, I started having 24/7 pain which can happen in fusion surgeries, and we tried everything. My pain management Dr said the only thing left was to go back on the opioids, which I flat out refused. He was the one to suggest medical marijuana. I gave it thought and decided to try it. I really don't use a whole lot of it. In fact, I only take 1 pill or a dropper of tincture at night before bed. I do have to do a drug test every year to prove that I'm not using any other drugs, which I'm fine with. I have since reduced the amount of THC I use, so I never had an issue with increased usage or abuse. So, overall my experience has been decent. I don't feel like I've had any ill effects as of yet.
There is a reason the Native Americans used it as a medicine. They understood the healing properties of cannabis. I think those of us without addictive personalities will not abuse it, but there are plenty of people who merely say that they have "anxiety" and poof, they get a medical card. They are usually people who partook of it to begin with, they just have legal carte blanche to smoke away now. I know some people that did just that. In my opinion, they need more stringent vetting. In my case, I was under a doctor's care. Some people just call some hotline, answer a few vague questions, pay the fee, and viola!
Our government figured out that this was a big cash cow for them, so they are going to grease the skids to make as much tax revenue as possible.
LMAO! Refer Madness…
Only weak minded people consume alcohol and or dope!
It ain’t easy but it is that simple.
Not one word about alcohol which is much worse.
It's the vaccines. Not the weed.
Yawn
Heard it before….like you really care about advising stoners?
I doubt it.
PTSD and depression are helped by cannabis therapy…ask some veterans.
Try saving us from alcoholics, they are far more dangerous, especially to women.
I'm 79 years old and will likely pass away long before any effects of Cannabis/THC do me in.
I use the Cannabis/THC, low concentration, for PTSD and Depression. It helps me sleep when I used to toss/turn all night.
PTSD? No such animal just another label to acquire free stuff like medical pot and a "disability" check for life.
Yep, takes away the pain in my joints after a hard day and I sleep like a baby.
How about we just leave people alone . It's their body(Where have we heard that before) we have no right to tell anyone how to live their life.
God created Marijuana. He did not create heroin, fentanyl, oxycontin, meth, opiods, pharmaceutical copies of natural products, etc. Nobody lives forever, everything is a gift designed to generate Thanksgiving by humans! Evil comes from the devil's hatred of God, and mankind. How about the truth that cannabinoids break down plaque in the brain, which causes dementia?
Pot heads smoke so they won't care. So they smoke and then they don't care. And their families do the clean up. But they don't care.
Lots of personal experience.
I smoke it so I don't have to take opiates for the nerve damage in my spine.
Looks like "snailmailtruck" thinks I should take opiate for the nerve damage pain…What a moron.
They still think you got to roll it up and smoke it. Or that has it to be psychoactive. Making laws and not understanding the science of a plant made before man.
CBG
I had to quit smoking cause it bother my throat so I did like my grandmother did in the mountains I grew it and turned it into an Elixar. I used the bud where others used the trimmings, it would knock you out just like morphine but I only used it when the nerve damage started acting up.
Then next morning I felt fine.
If you find it works then fine.
Likewise, if you find it damages you then that also is up to you to deal with.
Was that the same Dr that told you to get the Jab? lol
Name-calling is not intelligent, just makes you look bad.
mix cannabis with mullein
Allergic to prednisone? Too bad…I guess…
Opiates were the only thing that killed the nerve damage pain, they tried all kinds of stuff and none worked. At first I refused opiates knowing what it would do to me eventually, but when your wife walks into the bedroom finding you trying to reach the pistol after about 1.5 weeks of pure torture in tears you're not given much choice in the matter.
why have a pistol out of reach…
It wasn't, my wife took it out of the house the first time I was able to get to sleep on advice from the specialist.
Maybe ask your doctor about gabapentin for the nerves, and Belbuca ~450mc for the pain? It's not perfect but it keeps me out of the gravel (like a fish in a tank with not enough water).
Gabapentin is a great way to make whatever time you have awake useless. I have severe diabetic nerve damage and they out me on Gabapentin as a "miracle drug". The only miracle was that it didn't kill me. a year's worth of usage and it did nothing for the neuropathy and made me so physically useless that I had other issues to add to the pile. I stopped the Gabapentin and 16 Ibuprofen a day and started using CBD/CBG/THC gummies and the nerve pain is gone as is a big part of my inflammation that makes my joints very painful. I tsake a 10mg gummy and cut it in half once daily and that is a good enough dose to take my life back. I don't care what the long term damage might be of the THC since the outcome is going to be the same down the road – death. If I am going to live, I am going to do what I can that is as natural as possible for QUALITY of life, not quantity.
Broken tail bone so many times, it almost swings on it's own…They had me on 5 and 10 hydrocodone, cyclobenzaprine, and few others, got tired of being a zombie, Went the path yer preaching after a friend, uh… showed me the way, an he has spinal implants! His lower spine X-ray remind me of the Eiffel Tower with the spine in the middle! Edit; gabbapentin was also served up… not only NO, but he'll no!
gabbapentin is "Zombie fuel" that is soul destroying fatal bad advice.
Neurontin (gabapentin) is VERY addictive. And plays with your memory and consciousness- what is real vs. what is not.
Ask nurses who have been on Neurontin……. BAD NEWS
I was prescribed pregabalin and use MJ to add and make the pregabalin more effective.
It helps with the depression of having pain 24x7x365 also.
Same but I also get extended release Tramadol and Norco for breakthrough pain. The combination allows me to just get enough relief to survive but my quality of life is living hell. I would love to smoke more but my lungs are shot I may have 30% left. Unfortunately I live in the backwards State of Indiana so gummies at the strength i need are out of reach
Do salves or liquid drops help? Check Healing Rose, no psychoactive effects.
Not sure why the down votes!? I only take about 400mg a day, and from what I've read some are taking Gabapentin @ 3600mg a day. So maybe mega dosing is not the way to go. But my low does – for twenty years has not been a problem and it stops the boiling in my feet, even if it makes me run a little hot. And I have tried most everything from Darvaset back in the day to hydrocodone to butrans to Belbuca. It's whatever works for you and the new commercial weed didn't do it (for me). YMMV!
Please know that prednisone will steal your bones and bing the onset of diabetes.
I found out the hard way. That doctors are sponsored prescribers.
Prednisone is the Devil's tic-tacs.
Pred is not good for your bones
AGREED.
So you also have nerve damage? I myself can not use prednisone, but lets not forget those chemicals are far worst than weed. A natural plan Vs a man made stuff….not a difficult choice to make here. The problem is that some pains don't response to anything other that garbage opiods, to some people there is no other way. Weed has help many people to get off other heavier drugs.
Yeah and osteoarthritis.
One of the over the counter pain drugs is the absolute smallest amount of a paralytic derived from Dendrobatidae, look it up, it's one of the most potent poisons out there, many 'LEGAL prescribed DRUG's are based or derived from critter like the boomslang (Dispholidus typus) Again… look it up!
predisone is a severe immunocompromiser. It causes more fatal comorbidities in asthmatics than any other substance. And repeated use of it causes severe adrenal/kidney damage. There is a reason its not over the counter.
But it’s one of the first things they jab in your knee. FOR some is a miracle, for myself I had a three day trip that they told me I had to ride the dragon when I went to the fing emergency room. It was twenty four hour sets of anxiety, muscle tremors and hicups. Thought I was dying.I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Years later, after getting off all the Babylon, I feel way better. I use products made of hemp that work for me. I have a friend that recovered from cancer who couldn’t use opioids and she uses kratom. Works for her.
Its not a problem to get 1 or 2 prednisone shots a year. That is different than maintaining a prednisone level in your blood perpetually from pills. My responses were in context of the comments of the original poster.;
Try ordering California Poppies on Amazon or harvest them yourself. They are bright golden flowers that are very common in California and they have a sedative effect. The entire plant can be used as such. It was offered by drug companies until the early 1930's when they decided that since it couldn't be patented there was not enough profit to continue selling such.
. And THAT's why weed is fought against so hard, being able to grow it in your back yard steals THEIR profits!! But Joe dummy can't see the manipulation!
Very true. I agree cannabis can be harmful if it is abused but there is a lot of evidence of its medicinal benefits. I have witnessed people with serious mental health conditions replace the drugs prescribed by docs with cannabis and actually have better results.
We should have the right to use the stuff if we want.
However, if someone knowingly sells you bad stuff and you are harmed there should be litigation and a civilized process to determine who is at fault.
Your tinfoil hat needs adjustment.
I see logic escapes you… Want a little ‘cheese’ to go with that whine??
So does your ‘attitude’ 21k comments but ONLY 29K Up votes AND to timid to show what a real person has to say with a “This user’s activity is private”…
Leave me alone Mr. hole-E R than thou!
My history is private because of trolls like you.
No, your an opinionated stick in the mud, my comments are open for all to see, yours are closed off just like your mind…
Your right and THAT'S all that matters in your tiny little world…
And before you go holier than thou, I was raised catholic and KNOW there is A God, so the heathen accusation's won't fly either as IF calling me a Troll would, LOL, I'm sorry that you had to raise the child of your child, but that does NOT invalidate what's been discussed OR the experience of those doing it!
Edit; I have over twenty years of military behind me to include NOT touching cannabis, than includes All the damage this body has endured, Covid and greed of the corporate world has shown me that many things we as a people have been led to believe are nothing BUT covering up and lies, to keep the profit rolling in…
Did you even read the article?
YES and my reading comprehension has been tested to be higher than that of someone with a Bachelor’s Degree…
You should have that right.
I CAN relate! Edit; some people would prefer the man made poisons to those that come naturally, Those that nature provides were produced by Who?
Mother Nature of course.
Him
Dog crap is natural, too. Do you smoke it?
No ‘AIRHEAD’ But at least I can see beyond the end of my nose…
Pull yours out of that AS well…
You are very fortunate then. Cannabis has never alleviated my stenotic pain one iota.
Moderation is the key. Too much of anything is bad for you. Too much vitamins, fat, sun, food. Think about it.
That’s pathetic. Moderation in arsenic, belladonna, etc…?
no one in history has ever died from an overdose of cannabis unlike the items you mentioned. You need an education.
No one has ever died from an overdose of cannabis,
It must be difficult being a family member of an addict.
Yes.
Please Trust The Science, Oh wait, that's Dr Jagjuicy isn't it. Even pedo joey got into the push on the Jab. Joey would not LIE, he Said it's Safe and Effective, so it's got to be! Better ask Ashley about joey being Safe. Science will and can tell you Anything to make Money. Trust Not anything the Cover-A-Mint$ tells you, look no farther than the past 250 years for proof.
Sounds like you cleaned your dirty brothers room for him. Nice sister
Make your comment after you’ve raised someone else’s children.
I know several successful people who smoke weed.
Well.
They’re anomalies. Read the article.
You do you. Sorry for your loss.
Article like this are entertaining, most ignorant commenters got their information from reefer madness.
"Because of new results from Harvard research and NIH affiliate data"
Yes I trust the the people that gave us gruber and fauci. First thing to check is who is funding this guy.
LOL…wow.
Remember the scare about butter and eggs in the 70's, After the government and "scientist" pushed margarine on everyone, heart disease rates spiked. They were wrong margarine was worse. Whoops.
Pepperidge farm remembers.
Depends on intake…
Get real…
Too many eggs and too much real butter is still bad for you.
You are just trying to justify it like the 'naturalist' do.
So then it's not all that bad then I guess.
Actually not true…
If yoyu conprehnd what the report states…and go look at the drtails…
You will find even amall amounts regularly are still as bad…
Do you actually think dna and cell reaggangement only happen when the amounts are at higher levels.
The effects you get, is the damage itself.
It is an indication there is a problem.
The same people telling you this also told you to keep up with your boosters. Make sure you're up to date.
I concur.
I love how some "call BS…" on the studies.
Like the studies are not designed to tak in consideration other things.
And the 'expertise' of the 'user' addicted, and does not even realize it, just because they can go a day or two without.
They will be irritable as heck but you know…not becase of the lack of week…/s…
It never should have been legalized at all…
It is akin to booze, although most will say no.
It may not cause the same level of 'out of control' while high, but in every other sense, health, economics, family and other areas…it has the same effects.
It's the impact to kids that is being ignored. Kids now have easy access to week and they are taking it during formative years. It causes drops in test scores and it's ignored as well can't talk about that!
Look at what happened in CO for a clear view of what happened when the law changed. Look at how CO is viewed compared other states that don't put up with the nonsense.
You beter read the reserch again.
And such things will always be worse on those who use longer…
But that in no way negates the ill effects on anyone.
Alcohol has a much larger negative impact on society but not even mentioned.
Do you still trust doctors after Covid?
Not by much today…not when you caompare it on the same access level…no way.
You need to check your facts again.
AS for trusting…just because some lied for treasonaous reasons, does not negate ALL of medicine or research.
Doctors today, practicing, are not researchers…Huge difference.
And also, there ar many kinds of 'doctors'.
Md's are but one.
Propaganda
As long as the study ignores all other big pharma drugs, vaccines and alcohol we're good right?
10% of drinkers develop a use disorder. 30% of pot smokers develop a use disorder. It's a dangerous drug, especially the newer, highly potent strains. It ruins people's lives. Should people go to jail for using it, no. But its use should not be encouraged.
Same here, and you have to know what is out there today is much more dangerous at 22 plus % than any of the 4-12% we could get…
Even the best back then was no where close to today.
And you are either lying or just in denial if you do not agee with my original statement above.
Have a good day.
Sorry, not buying it. Cannabis was studied for harm and was found to be safer than aspirin as ruled by Francis L Young a judge who reviewed the findings. Alcohol causes massively more damage, mental illness, death and yet it is legal. Cigarettes cause many health issues yet is legal also but for some reason Cannabis is the bad guy and must go. And why is that?
So, big pharma studies cannabis and it is bad and must go. But why? Hmmmm. THC a compound found in cannabis kills cancer cells, this is proven in many studies and in patients including myself. Cannabis oil kills almost every skin cancer that exists by topical application and cancer is a HUGE money maker for Big Pharma. So with all the other legal substances that cause far greater harm to health and mind and society, cannabis which cures cancer is the bad guy! Hmmmmmm……
Trust the science right!
I call BS on this propaganda.
What they don't tell you is that if you smoked THC all your life there is a 99.9% chance you will never get Cancer.
The issue is low IQ people and teens have issues with it, but that same demographic can't handle the internet, food dyes, sugar, caffiene, tobacco (including vapes), or anything for that matter.
AND the mass shooting thing is an outrageous NON "fact"
Taking away Cannibus WILL NOT HELP PEOPLE.
WHY don't we focus on Fentanyl that is the leading cause of death for people 18-39yo???
My step brother died from a Fentanyl Overdose, he smoked pot since he was teen and never died or had any issues. Then he met the wrong girl (who sold weed and other things) IF he could've gone to the local smoke shop to buy it he would still be alive, but instead he had to deal on the black market.
MAYBE that's the real motivation behind the biased propaganda in this article… Maybe somone wants to make money off the black market because the legal market is flooded and taxed and they're willing to gas-light and brainwash everyone to make people buy their weed on the black market controlled by thugs and cartels, and even Joe Hoft is oblivious to the facts (I doubt he smoked it)
Just because some bad people smoke it, it dosen't mean your a bad person if you do.
They need to Stop trying to punish good people for the acts of a few criminals that would do what they do whether they smoked it or not. Legal cannibus is not the problem, the politics behind it is.
Cannibus is like the internet : some can handle it, others get consumed by it and it defines their peronality, some use it to do good things, some use it just to relax, some have gone to jail over it, but banning it for everyone because of a few can't handle it is absurd.
N O R M L crowd triggered, LOL
Sounds like Reefer Madness again.
Forgive me.I did not read the long article , but I am so glad I am out of california and live in georgia where it's still a felony to smoke marijuana or have it on you. I used to smoke marijuana for 40 years, Even though it was very little. It never made my life better. It only helped to destroy relationships. it's been about thirteen years since I have smoked any. Life is much better. I have less pain , and my relationships are far better. I am so sick of driving and walking around the neighborhood's smelling the stench of marijuana. I never have to do that anymore, because of the fear of being arrested for a felony. I have no desire to be stupid ever again. Praise the Lord.
The stoners always come out in force to defend their beloved sacrament. Nothing good comes from using marijuana. How come every mass shooter is a useless weedhead? It messes with your brain. I have to work with a few useless weedheads. They don't function right. I'm sick of people trying to legitimize it. It's bad all around. Oh yeah…supporting this industry is unraveling the fabric of our society. So there's that, if your sober enough to care…
I don't support the cannabis industry they use all kinds of stuff to control insects, but I do support growing you own chemical-free usage IN MODERATION.
There is a big difference between the two.
The U.S. is going through a readjustment period. When marijuana was legal/non-criminal before the 1960s there were no major problems with the substance.
Now that almost all states have legalized it in some way we kind of are living in the wild west. We are getting our bearings but I think in the end we are better off. People will start to have serious talk about the pros and cons of marijuana use and users will make informed decisions.
Part of this might be having a label on the product specifying concentrations, dosages, packaging date, expiration date, usage instructions and caveats.
For sure, an important part of legalization is that we no longer have to blow each other’s brains out when a deal goes wrong. You can now hire a lawyer and go through a civilized process to settle the dispute.
Punch of bs
The new stuff is not like the old, the new stuff has secret evil ingredients, it is bad for your health, and it will ruin your Christ consciousness and make you feel even more alone. Having said that, don’t put all the blame on the cannabis, remember the jibby-jab is “numero uno”!
I’m so sick of the pot – alcohol comparison. They’re both harmful in different ways. Alcohol is poison and kills every cell it touches, and pot makes you stupid.
I smoked for four years, and then decided to take flying lessons. I immediately learned you can’t do pilot tasks while being a pot smoker. After quitting for six months, I was clear thinking enough to resume flight training, and had a 41 year flying career. During that time, I’ve never met a pilot that smoked pot.
Reefer Madness style propaganda makes you look foolish. Stop shilling for big pharma, tobacco and alcohol industries, etal.
Heavy THC use has serious psychological effects. Plenty of evidence.
Alex Berenson, “Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence,” has the data: heavy cannabis use—especially high-potency THC products—is linked to an increased risk of psychosis and schizophrenia, particularly in vulnerable teenagers and young adults

Just a fake meme with no attribution. I could put one together with AI stating that pot heads are insufferable morons. But then we already knew that. Average 8 point IQ drop if stated young.
Deport the cockroaches.
BUT This bastard belongs in prison for life.
Impeccable advice from a person on a comment board.
We don't need tens of billions of dollars to have some inefficient, costly and corrupt bureaucracy to come to this same conclusion.
Many environmental interactions are genetotoxic, This is why there is a vast repair organization in and around our DNA. Maybe we shouldn't ride airplanes anymore. The cosmic ray mutagenesis in a flight to LA from NY is far more worrying. Oh yeah so is that cell phone in your pocket.
Mass shootings lol Joe stfu and mind your own business, don't bring up a dead man's opinion btw hes dead thats why we say RIP and not rest until we need to use your name for our self interest.
What a pack of lies!
There is no scientific test to show what you would have done with your life had you not smoked dope. Remember that when they tell you it's safe.
Brought to you by the same people who made refer madness. Shouldn't have tried tying weed to blacks and murder. Like trying to convince a boy the he shouldn't masturbate because hell grow hair on his palms…
The list looks more like side effects from big pharma
Powerful argument by a Know-Nuthing. Screen name tells it all.
We're pre-wired to accept Cannabinoids through our Endocannabinoid System. But yeah, REEFER MADNESS! "The Devil's Cabbage" I mean, who wants to give up 5 medications for some Cannabis anyways.
Cannabis has been studied for centuries. I believe that whomever pays for the study gets the results they want.
Same with "climate change" or any other hot button issue of the day.
300,000 to 400,000 over 30 years? That’s roughly 27 to 36 consultations a day 24/7 for 30 years. That’s more than 1 a hour. Kinds bullshitty exaggerating a bit wouldn’t you say?
Who cares. The government shouldn't be involved with the owners of the countries private lives.
Most of us could see this coming. It's not the weed that's the problem, it's the big money interests behind it. All the old-timers really wanted was the right to grow their own herb and be left alone.
Now look what you've done.
Edibles that poison kids, insane THC levels, interstate trafficking.
All for a weed. Idiots.
Absolutely true: but heavy pot users will deny the present-day ultra powerful “super-THC” hybridized marijuana (compared to that of the “Woodstock” days)—yet any check of the scientific literature by many different researchers tells a compellingly different story.
One of the best articles summarizing the issue:
