Tear Jerker of the week.
Wow – what a beautiful story.
Justin Verlander has played 21 seasons in the majors. His final start was today.
After 5⅓ innings, manager A.J. Hinch came out to take him out, then pointed to the stands. Genevieve, his 7-year-old daughter, sprinted onto the field in his jersey, ran to the mound, and hugged him. He started shaking and crying. He had no idea it was coming.
Then he walked off holding her hand.❤️
His wife Kate and their little boy Bellamy (1) met them at the dugout. https://x.com/MLB/status/2103937420219601205/video/1
This was the best sport’s story of the week.
