Rasmussen Reports released polling results showing that 82% of American voters believe the “weaponization” of government is a serious threat to our Republic. 

Rasmussen shows that Americans are waking up and now more than 4 out of 5 Americans believe that the weaponization of government is a serious threat.

The use of government power to punish political enemies is a big problem for America, according to a majority of voters.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 82% of Likely U.S. Voters consider the “weaponization” of government to be a serious threat to our Republic, including 58% who say the practice is a Very Serious threat.

These findings come amid reports that the Department of Justice has “effectively shut down” its Weaponization Working Group that was established in February 2025 to review instances of politicized prosecutions by the DOJ.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of voters believe it is important that past instances of government weaponization be properly addressed and victims compensated, including 42% who think it’s Very Important. Only 18% don’t consider it important to address prior incidents of weaponization, while 15% are not sure.

Here are some specifics behind the poll:

1* The phrase “weaponization of government” is commonly used to refer to the strategic manipulation of governmental institutions into tools to punish opposing political views and/or to gain a political advantage. How serious a threat to our Republic is the weaponization of government?

2* After beginning his second term in January 2025, President Trump issued an executive order ending the practice of weaponization and setting in motion a program to identify and remedy past misconduct from weaponization. Do you approve or disapprove of this effort?

3* The U.S. Department of Justice established the Weaponization Working Group in February 2025 to review instances of politicized prosecutions, but the office has since been shut down by department management. How important is it that past instances of government weaponization be properly addressed and victims compensated?

4* Former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, who was U.S. national security advisor to President Obama, recently warned that companies and other entities that “take a knee” to President Trump can expect to be “held accountable” if Democrats return to power. Overall these poll results continue to swing towards the conservative America-loving positions.  People are waking up and not listening to the MSM or nasty podcasts online.  They have had enough of lies and grifters and want the crooks who break the laws held accountable.

  1. Both sides probably think this — but on the Right there are provable examples to point to where as on the Left, it's probably just their projection and TDS.

        Unfortunately, Trump is historically Progressive, and hasn't made DOGE a core tenet of his Administration. In fact, he's lost interest in DOGE, and the SAVE Act won't yield the results that a good, brutal reaming of the Progressive fascists through RICO would have.

  8. Weaponizarion of the government has been going on for decades. Ruby Ridge and Waco was the weaponization of the ATF and FBI. Ruby Ridge over a sawed off shotgun, Waco over a supposed Ma Duece. In 2010, the most prominent and modern weaponization was the IRS against conservatives and has been unabated and escalated since.

If you really want to get down in the dirt there is no difference between the two good and evil unless you want to attempt to measure intent and only GOD can do that last time I checked. Have you ever had to take a human life? Make a choice that destroys someone else’s livelihood?       • We stopped using that template around 1865. The very nature of the Republic changed post civil war reconstruction. And between then and now the entire bill of rights has been superseded. We don't resemble the Federal government ratified in 1788 but that is the nature of what we are. At the moment I see us a basically 98% corporate captured until the 17th amendment is expunged. Senators shouldn't be running for public office they should be appointed by the State legislatures. Until thats done the SuperPACs control our candidate selection process for the entire House of Representatives and it's not supposed to be that way. All the power is in Washington and none to the States.

    As of 2024, Oregon was the only state where the state legislature did not have the power to impeach the governor.
    And the people do not have the right to impeach, and with oregon with both houses being democrat impeachment will never happen they protect the dirty cheaters

    Everyday, in courtrooms across America, prosecutors and "judges" are knowingly and intentionally forcing convictions on innocent people who are only guilty of one "crime"- living from one check to the next, supporting their families, and not having the funds to defend themselves.
    The DA's and judges get yearly bonuses, not for being fair, rather, they get rewarded for the number and severity of the convictions from the previous year.
    They are in fact locking up innocent people for fun and profit.
    What they did to Trump and the Jan 6 folks and the Christians praying for people in front of abortion clinics is only an extension of the corrupt power they hold, and the warped interpretation they use for their own advantage.
    They count on those bonuses every year, for everything from lux vacations, to new yacht purchases, to campaign funds.
    There is no unit of measurement to determine the actual administration of "justice", only a method to reward da's for withholding evidence, and monetary advantage for a judge to unfairly refuse to allow evidence that would prove innocence.
    The entire judicial system has been severely broken for a very long time.
    For as long as DA's and Judges have "judicial impunity" we will have a corrupt few victimizing everyday citizens for their own financial advantage.
    I'm betting there are easily millions of people who've had their voting rights and gun rights taken away forever, just so some power tripping morons can pad their year end bonuses.
    It's beyond pale that so many lives, and by extension families, have been destroyed due to this obviously unfair practice.

    • There are very few people who go to prison who aren’t guilty as heck, and most get shorter sentences than they deserve thanks to plea bargaining. A genuinely innocent person getting convicted of a serious crime is a very rare thing.

  55. I believe this awakening started during and after the Covidiot fascist tyranny by Biden's regime and lockdowns. So many kids lost two crucial years of their young lives in social development being locked at home and out of school.

    Families missed crucial life events. Events like weddings, birthday parties for their kids, high school sports and graduations, and even funerals. Even church services were cancelled. That should never happen again, and the more people I talk to over missing these events and reminding them, they more pissed they get.

    Some people enjoyed perks though when allowed: like flying on an airliner alone or with just a handful of people on board having the whole plane to themselves as people were too scared to fly, heh.

  61. When the Demokkkrats under HomObama and Autopen AI Bribe'm are in jail, I will pay more attention. HomObama weaponized both DOJ and IRS and in some extent the military by purging generals and installing those loyal to him while Autopen AI Bribe'm weaponized the DOJ and the FBLie in his quest to belittle and destroy Trump and terrorizing the MAGA crowd (J6ers).

    For now, this is in the back burner of the current DOJ doing something about it. There is but 2 and a half years left in the current administration to rectify weaponization by bringing charges to these two destructive usurpers (HomObama/Bribe'm) which, sadly, will not happen.

    Hoping the Trump legacy and the subsequent JD Vance administration will pursue this injustice, a dark stain in our country's modern history. Even if we weaponize these agencies to give Demokkkrats a taste of their own medicine.
