Insurance CAN work and work well- when there is competition. That requires the states to stop meddling with insurance and allow them to come back. In CA, in the 60’s- we had several dozen companies to choose from and cost were low due to competition.
Blocking interstate competition is the biggest part of that problem. Constitutionally speaking, that is illegal. But, the States want their fiefdoms for unholy reasons.
When the insurance company understands risk management they can operate much better.

I was doing graduate studies at Harvard and came across the person at the Health Sciences School, (an indoctrination school more than anything else- honestly), who was one of the primary authors of Obamacare. Most of you don't realize it but you have what used to be call catastrophic health insurance that had high deductibles. This was about $80 a person before Obamacare and now costs whatever YOU are paying. If you actually kept your insurance from before Obamacare, you were paying $500 a month for you/family. Now it's almost $4000 a month. Thanks affordible care act. Trump won't do anything to fix that. None of this dribble will help most of you at all. Ocrapolo care caused the rise in deductibles and premiums. I once had zero deductibles and my premiums were cheap but when obuthole came into power, that all changed. My deductibles are not reasonable and my costs before my insurance started paying a dime is just like I have no Insurance at all!!!!

Passing $ to the consumer means that consumer can pick the plan they want. Insuramce companies will now compete and price to sell. HSA and catastrophic plans are a great deal for consumers. If you get seriously ill you are covered. If not a portion of the yearly premium is able to be invested. By the 2nd or 3rd year ther's enough in the investment to cover the deductable or to grow…your choice.
Trashing Trump's plan after he got drug prices down and is pushing for the most viable way to lower health insurance price and deliver individual choice is inexplicable IMO. Maybe you are waiting for the magic wand guy?

Is that supposed to be disparagement by delusion? I had an HSA for many years and when I aged out to medicare I had a substantial investment from the portion of premiums invested by the company, So I do, in fact, know of what I speak.
Actually you don’t know. Even if that were true for you it’s not for most. Most employees with an HSA get half from their company and then the company takes it all including your investment at the end of the year if it isn’t used.
Your HSA investments are yours, not your employer’s; even if you leave the company, you keep the account, its funds, and investments, and can roll it over, keep it as is, or move it to a new HSA, with funds growing tax-free for medical expenses or retirement. Employers might contribute, but those funds are also yours, and you can continue investing in your old HSA or open a new one at your new job to maximize growth.
So if you have knowledge of companies keeping funds you should report them.
We care because over half of "our" health care monies are wasted in bureaucracies and tall insurance company buildings. Cut out absolutely all the insurance and medicare/aid/VHS leviathan and just make the money, like social security, under the individual citizen's control.

The next to last point should be interesting. If you need to schedule "elective" surgery, which includes anything you have to schedule ahead of time, you can theoretically pick your hospital, but even then, if it's "out of network," good luck getting your insurer to foot the bill, even if it is life saving. But, if you have some kind of accident that warrants being rushed to a hospital in an ambulance, going through the ER, you have no choice where they take you.

I just fought that battle, when Hubs had his 4th stroke.
They wanted to take him to the local first aid station.
I dismissed them and drove him 1 1/2 hours myself to a larger hospital, who was able to administer ATP within 4 hours of the stroke.
Had he gone to the local hospital, he couldn't have gotten the treatment, because by the time he would have been transferred , the 4 hour time limit would have been up.
I had a blow out with the ambulance administrator later, and got things straightened out.
They have to take you where you want to go, but they will try to force you to do what they want.
The RINOs will go to bat for the insurance companies, and the hospitals will be suing to keep from disclosing what they charge, and the 17% of Americans who use Obummercare will be represented by the ACLU so they don't have to do anything but show up for shots and scripts.

The Plan is fuzzy to me. HealthCARE and Health INSURANCE are two different things. Will the money "gong to the people" let them buy their own health insurance? OR will the money be used to pay doctors directly for care? Will a $500.000 brain operation expense be paid directly to the people? If I have ZERO health expenses will I receive monthly payments so I can shop for insurance? What if I don't buy any health insurance? Can I keep the money?? A National Insurance plan, managed by the government, makes more sense to me.
The way I understood it is that the money will go in to a special account in your name, and you use the money to supplement your health insurance costs. I'm not sold on the idea, but that's just my understanding of the plan.

Absolutely! The Medicare Premium is now 202.90 for my husband which does not cover prescriptions, dental or vision. This plan "giving the money directly to the people" doesn't make sense. It sounds like socialism and when Trump is gone this money will be too. So 200 million Americans will get money in their accounts to pay for health insurance?
The Hospital part is covered by Medicare A. That is no charge of you paid taxes throughout your working life. The $203 is Medicare B. that covers doctors, specia;lists, therapy, and procedures such as catscans, MRI etc.. You canb get Medicare Advantagfe plans that throw in dental vision and hearing many times at $#0 monthlty premium. The problem comes when people want the latest medicines, the best hospital etc.. at no charge. Not possible. If I want to pay $2,000 for a car, I get a 1993 Nissan Centra. If I want a Ferrari, I have to come up with $500,000. unless we lower the actual cost of healthcare, we cannot get low cost insurance. It should make sense, but apparently most people don't get that.

This is the solution to the problem of high healthcare cost:
The Voluntary Tort Reform Act
– Any medical provider in America may voluntarily choose a Pain and Suffering tort limit, above a lower threshold established by congress, and will be protected by a Pain and Suffering tort limit in civil lawsuits, when the following criteria are met: 1) The medical provider clearly advertises that Pain and Suffering (P&S) Limit on their entryway and intake signup forms, 2) The medical provider maintains a bond or malpractice insurance providing a guarantee of cash support for that amount, plus a $1 million basic medical repair bond, to cover direct hospitalization expenses in cases of malpractice. If those criteria are met, then no civil lawsuit award can exceed the amount of basic medical repair costs in cases of malpractice, plus that tort limit, plus filing fees and 3/4ths of legal expenses.
For example, if a patient visits a rural nursing office with an advertised $50k P&S Limit, and the nursing office through malpractice injures the patient such that the patient requires $200k in hospitalization, and the filing fees and legal expenses are $12,000, the maximum amount that rural medical provider can be sued for, is $262,000.

This greatly reduces the cost burden of medical providers, and lets them greatly reduce their prices in a competitive environment.

I've read this plan and it is nowhere close to good enough yet. First, nobody knows what a Health Savings Account is and how it works. You can't assume people even know what you are talking about. Second, they are going to help fund it with $ 1000. That's better than nothing but not much better. I'm meeting with my Congressman's staff to show them how to make this idea work better. When I was young I went to the pediatrician and the dentist and we always paid right up front cash. You know why? They didn't have horrible high prices and people didn't need insurance back then. Except for hospitalization which cost maybe $5 a month to have. I wish we could go back to those times but have you seen dental bills? They are through the roof. My husband is having immunotherapy for his cancer every 3 weeks and the cost of the product to put in him alone is $90,000. Probably why we don't have a cure for cancer because too many people would lose their jobs and a lot of money. It's all about the money and that goes for congress too. They're all about the money. Greed is destroying our country and the world. I hope president Trump can get all this done and not through an executive order but as law.

Being on Medicare, I see these doctors just roll people in and out like cattle give him 10 minutes of time at the most because they got to get the next person in to make up the difference so they don't go completely broke. Medicare only pays about 10% of the doctor fees and Medicaid you would be lucky if they paid 5%. That's why all these doctors have banned together to save on cost. It's hard to even get in to see a doctor anymore you have to wait a month or more to see a primary and months to see a specialist. I remember when one doctor did it all and had their own private office and gave you time to talk to them. Insurance has forced them to make these corporations of doctor offices

Not entirely true. My doctor has a PA in the office who saw I had borderline high cholesterol (which has been a scam for years) and she said I should be on statins which are BAD for you and ordered a prescription without even discussing other options – which are many. Ticked me off royally.
I went to a cardiologist because I have a small amount of blockage — ordered a statin without even checking my cholesterol first. They don't think, they look at the chart that tells them what to do.
That's definitely discouraging. I only see the medical Mafia these days when absolutely necessary. If you are good at growing things look into homeopathic solutions.
I am and I do. I take red rice yeast and milk thistle for elevated cholesterol along with other herbs and supplements for general health. Oh, and stay away from the doctor unless necessary or, in this case, a pre-surgery exam. One of those evil insurance company requirements (Big Brother thugs).
I started taking red rice yeast last year after my dad had great success with it lowering his blood pressure. My next goal is a full body parasite detox along with heavy metal cleanse. I'm going to attempt to grow homeopathic plants indoors this year. Hopefully I'll get a better success rate.
Doctors are puppets of Big Pharma and Big Insurance. My doctor even admits (in so many words) that he no longer practices medicine as much as he responds to insurance company direction and prescribes whatever Big Pharma pushes.

If they find a cure and I know they have, they would all be out of business. Think about it. My husband has at least five doctors in his cancer treatment besides his primary. A lot of people would lose a lot of money if they let a cure come out
Fenbendazole and Ivermectin has done wonders for many with cancer. It's the reason the "medical" profession and drug companies have paid off the FDA to downplay them or make them illegal for human consumption in the West.
You are absolutely right. In the United States you have to have a prescription to get ivermectin except in a few States. Not even sure how to get fenbendazole. But I’m working on it for my husband I want him to live He’s only 59 and he’s a good person.
You can get fenbendazole from Tractor Supply ordering online. It's Panacur C powder for "dogs" in packets of 222 mg, which is the dosage for prevention of cancer. Which is what we use. If you have cancer then you want to take 444 mg. It's been shown with tests that humans can handle up to 2,000 mg a day without much of an issue. You can also order Ivermectin from them also.
My brother is a retired Veterinarian and he'll tell you drugs for animals is of the same quality as for drugs for humans. FWIW
Oh and mebendazole is the same drug as Fenbendazole. The FDA has done the naming for a reason that's in favor of Big Pharma.

He’ll need to keep tabs on his liver profile for sure. It doesn’t effect everyone in that way, but there are some that it does. Just being straight with you. Also check out dandelion root and milk thistle that can help also. Milk Thistle with some other herbs helped my wife with her HepC 1-B that took a year to get her teeter to almost zero.

They check to see what the Insurance Companies tell them they can do. That's what happens. Doctor says "you need a PET Scan", and insurance company says "no you don't." So you don't get the PET scan. Three different doctors say you need a "Pet scan", insurance still says no. They don't let you get a PET scan. (this is not fictional I experienced this multiple times with my wife and her cancer even though we are spending over $1000/mo just on insurance premiums).

It's hard to know what Trump is proposing, but one thing I know is it's surely not a "fix". At best it might be an improvement or step in the right direction. There are lots of smart people out there with ways to make health care more of a free market system, so I hope Trump listened to them and didn't just latch onto a bunch of gimmicks.

But, unlike the insurance companies, who have posted price tags on policies that you can shop-around on, the hospitals don't post their prices for services. They detest having to let you know what they charge. Their fees are based on what the insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid allow, as are their procedures offered. Many hospitals will not offer certain procedures, if there is no profit margin in it.
If Hospitals didn't try to rack up fees with each patient, based on who their insurance carriers was, normal Americans might be able to afford doctors' visits without needing to pay out loads of cash each month, or year (which largely goes unused).
I agree the government should get out of the picture, but they should at least force hospitals and physician's offices to post fees, and compete with each other for business.
The government isn't meant to force anything on anyone .. other than some form of taxation to fund government. I've advocated for years for a health care ACCESS plan for everyone, in which government puts funds into personal HSAs and free enterprise takes care of all the rest.
Kill off the need for huge bureaucracies and do-nothing corporate bigwigs and make the health customer supreme.

My wife and I are in our late seventies and we pay over $1500 in Medicare and BCBS Supplemental. Even with that many Doctors no longer take Medicare patients. Yes President Trump we have major problems and it is not outside our borders.

The ACA policies are pretty much garbage. I'm 61, have a small business that nets about $65k a year and the ACA was about the only option I had. The subsidy made the premiums more affordable but the coverage…$7500 annual deductible, $75 co-pay for doctor, $100 co-pay specialist, ER 50% covered after deductible ($7500), RX no coverage. Better than nothing I suppose…but in practical terms it's the same as having no insurance outside the catastrophic scenarios. This policy premium without the subsidy is nearly $1600 a month for an individual.
So basically O'Care is high priced catastrophic and did away with regular health insurance.
Chose our own health care, wow, what a concept that is WAY overdue. I'll believe it when I see it.

Obammy set up a system that a "patient" gets 15 minutes of the government controlled doctor's time and not one second more. The "patient" can only discuss one medical problem during that visit and must reschedule another visit to discuss a different problem thus generating another invoice for the hospital. No wonder that the medical community love this corrupt system and fight to keep it in place. It is a money cow that just keeps on giving the corrupted system,
Eliminate health insurance. The only reason it exists is in the depression era there were wage controls. Companies could not simply offer higher pay to attract the best people, so health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave and stock in the company was offered to compensate people better skirting the wage controls.
Fast forward and this norm became what people expected of their employer. Then in recent years employers began not offering health insurance which upset the paradigm, people weren't used to paying for health insurance or even paying much for their health care. Those costs were buried in their benefits package.
Let the health industry compete. Sure, their will be doctors for the rich and doctors for the poor but thats where we are today anyway. The rich go to boutique doctors and the poor go to free clinics…the middle class, as always, are sandwiched in-between, but its a vast market providers want. Let them compete for our "health business".
This is a decent start, but its going to be hard to break away health insurers from the providers, and the stupid people who dont understand that you DO actually have to pay for these services. Back in the old days people paid the doc with livestock and furniture if they had no money, but they always gave the doc something.
Isn't much of the problem bureaucratic red tape required by the government? Even if this does lower the cost, it does nothing to improve the health care you receive.
Trumps idea is not very good. Here is what I would do.
1. Implement income limits. The more money you make, the more you should pay. After a certain dollar amount, you must pay market rate. Premiums should be blended by age ranges.
2 . The federal government funds alot of medical research at the college level. Then when new drugs are brought to market, the government pays again via medicare/medicaid, etc. If the government funds the research, they should receive part of the revenue during the patent period.
3. For drugs sold in the US, limit patent protection to 15 years, down from 20. Keep 20 year patent protection for drugs sold overseas.
4. Allow non emergency patients the ability to use 3rd party MRI and scanning companies vs captive hospital services.
5 . If you are using ACA or other government programs, mandate that generics and 1st/2nd generation medications should be used provided efficacy is 92% or higher.
6. Allow telemedicine visit for more issues, provided a high standard of care can still be provided.
7. Implement healthy eating education beginning as early as 1st grade that is age appropriate. Bring back PE.
8. Require states to fund healthcare extras vs the federal government.
Too bad the mainstream media doesn’t cover this. And too bad Congress couldn’t do this instead of leaving everything up to Trump

Standardized coding would also help. Same codes across the boards. Dr. waste most of their time coding and fighting to be reimbursed. Knowing charges ahead of time – thats a good one. I am expected to pay at time of service and insurance never reimburses what they say they will, if at all. Alternative care, (stuff insurance refuses because its cheap and works), should also be included. We need to get dr.s out of hospitals and back in clinics. Hospitals should be for inpatient only or tests too expensive for clinics to do.
It’s ok if you’re still an earner but what does it do for fixed income retirees? Great, the healthcare providers will have to tell us how much it’s going to cost us. How does that save us money? Same as all these politicians saying we’re gonna cut income taxes. Great but again it does nothing for seniors.
