Hands that Shed Innocent Blood: The Christian Call to Seek Justice and Redemption

A National Prayer for Deliverance.
Lord God in Heaven, have mercy on us. Thou art righteous, O Lord, and we have sinned against Thee. We are reaping what we have sown and sorrow and shame covers our faces; we have departed from the light of Your words and followed after many vain things. Our silver has become dross and our gold has become dim. We have become unmindful of You, our Rock, who gave us this great and plentiful nation having cast Your law behind our backs. Our eyes have seen the horror of innocent blood spilt upon the ground and our hearts are broken; our young are devoured by violence and our eyes have seen it. Have mercy on us, O Lord, and help us! Help us to see the evil of our doing; open our eyes that we might see. Have mercy upon us and cleanse us. Give us Your wisdom and lead us in the way everlasting. Comfort and strengthen us in your mercy and grace, O God, that we might truly turn and truly live. Rise up Lord, our eyes are upon Thee! Fight for us now. Deliver us from evil and give us power to stand against it.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked… Jeremiah, 17:9
Why are we here? What has gone so wrong? Why have our schools, trains, and college amphitheaters been turned into execution chambers? It is because we have forsaken the wisdom of a loving God which has power to change the hearts of men. When justice is not served the evil in man’s heart is not restrained. When Jesus is not preached the evil in man’s heart is not removed. Without evil being either restrained or removed evil will always flourish.
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy, Jonah 2:8
Too long though we have neglected to hear the wise counsel of our Creator, and we are paying such a heavy price. We have eaten of the tree of knowledge and convinced ourselves we can prosper without Him, Genesis 3:6. We have long left the Rock and have built so much in our nation upon the sand, Matthew 7:26. We give praise unto that which should be shamed, and heap reproach upon that which we should honor. We put chains upon those worthy of freedom and bestow liberty to those worthy of bonds. We grant life to those who are worthy of death and give death unto those who are worthy of life, though the world be not worthy of them.
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil, Ecclesiastes 8:11.
Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man, Genesis 9:6.
God’s wisdom, long ago given, provides us now with the power to restrain evil, if we will choose to use it. Punish the evildoer, and do it swiftly, yet send in the preacher before sending in the executioner. When evildoers are punished, the hearts of men think twice for fear of receiving the same, Deuteronomy 13:11, 17:13. Man in his folly thinks he can do better than God, his wordly and unprofitable wisdom only serves to encourage evil rather than to restrain it.
God instituted the death penalty for murderers for a good reason: so that His wisdom in our hands could deliver us from evil, and it is great evil to shed the innocent blood of those who are made in the image of God. Man, who eats from the tree of knowledge, tells himself that he needs no “god” telling him how to live his life. We are experiencing just how much we actually need God to tell us how to truly live. No one is wiser than God.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him, 1 John 3:15
Not only does man need God’s wisdom that he would be blessed in his earthly life, but more so he needs God’s wisdom in the Gospel that he would know the free gift of eternal life, which so changes the heart of man that the evil of murder is removed from his heart. Nothing is more transformative than love and grace, and those who truly know the love and grace of God in Christ Jesus will so much the more have the power to love God and love their neighbor.
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh, Ezekiel 36:26
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17
When Jesus is truly preached and Jesus is truly believed the hardened hearts of men are made tender and new; he is transformed within by the greatest of all love and power which is manifested only in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8, to prove just how much He loves us.
Because Jesus died for us and rose again, we have therein the proof we need to know that we are so loved, though we are so sinful, proving that Jesus is both willing and able to forgive us and save us from our sins. His death showed His love and proved He is willing to save us. His resurrection showed His power and proved He is able to save us. Jesus is the Savior and no other. There is no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, Acts 4:12.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast, Ephesians 2:8-9
America is in need that Christ be truly preached. Not the Christ of man’s preference or the Christ of man’s convenience, but the Christ of Scripture, who alone has power to save the souls of men transforming their hearts by faith in His saving grace and redeeming blood.
Jesus calls sinners to repentance, to turn from their sin to trust in the Savior, Luke 5:32. Our sins will only bring us to hell, yet Jesus alone can bring us to Heaven…
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, Romans 6:23
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me, John 14:6
If both Church and State would do faithfully that which God has called them and charged them to do, then hearts will change and America will heal. God have mercy on us and heal our land.
A worthy thought BUT preaching Jesus Christ is one thing, accepting Him as Saviour is another. One can preach all they want but until those that hear the preaching ACCEPT IT, that preaching falls on stoney ground. The rejection of the Gospel is what we see all around us today. The book of Revelation is filled with people who reject Jesus Christ. The result of that rejection leads, ultimately, to the events found in that book.
People have reached the point they reject anything to do with God. They hate Christians. They hate God. They hate His Son. They hate the Bible. Any talk of any of this ANGERS quite a few people … some to the point of eliminating those who speak of God, Jesus Christ, or the Bible.
We have a sin problem and until people accept the solution, as given by God, to that problem, it’s only going to get worse.
