One Idea to Address Ballots Received After Election Day

After yesterday’s insane Supreme Court loss that allows ballots to be counted long after Election Day, there may be a solution.

One idea shared on social media is to close the United States Postal Service on Election Day.  Mandate that the USPS employees work that day to handle all ballots received in the mail and deliver them to the election office that day.  This would prevent ballots from coming in after the election day.

Here is one person’s idea:

Close the Post Office on Election Day to customers.

Take all postal employee’s and put them in sorting and delivering mailed ballots to appropriate locations with body cams and paired witnesses.

Change the Postal scanner to detect ballots, and track at the highest level in the system, like next day USPS mail item.

Publish this on the USPS website, letting us see how many ballots are ‘en route’.

Pay overtime the night before election day to get as many ballots out of the mail system, save election day for the remaining trickle.

This can be fixed at a administrative level. You simply close the post office on election day, so that it’s impossible for a ballot to be marked received on election Day. You dedicate election day to closed door post office processing only. Focused on ballots only. Also implement a new system with the ballots where any ballot scan immediately marks it as a valid and it goes into a special container or box. We should know exactly how many ballots are in the system still and should be making Herculean efforts to pull them out of the system and get them to the elections officials before 12:01 election day.
