  56. A BBC lady reported a couple of days ago from Tehran and used an UN agency (probably the official Iranian) numbers of nearly 7000. Some Iranians managed to get numbers from hospitals and mortuaries and from these made a much higher projection of the numbers killed.

    The UN was constantly raising the issue of apartheid and their horror at people killed in clashes between police/security forces and those seeking to overthrow the South African government yet when the Truth and Reconciliation Commission investigated they were only able to produce a list of some 7000 covering the years 1948-1989.

    Now we are looking at perhaps 70 000 to 80 000 Iranians, most unarmed and many women and children killed by their own government over the past 50 days. What is the response of the UN, Western leaders and the mainstream media? They are either silent or their voices muted. These numbers, if confirmed likely exceed those of the daily average of the war between Russian and Ukraine. This is obscene.

    None of my main sources are neocon sources but Iranians in different parts of the world that have managed to get snippets of news from inside their home country and they all say the conditions are horrific and not like some of the images the BBC took in broad daylight it the center of the capital recently.
