ABLECHILD: False Cure – How Federally Funded Psychiatry Echoes Big Tobacco’s Lies

False Cure: How Federally Funded Psychiatry Echoes Big Tobacco’s Lies

Republished with permission from AbleChild.

The parallel between the US Government’s role in hooking people on cigarettes and its role in hooking people on psych drugs is so clear that it leaves hope that there is a way out of the current failed mental health model that continues to harm millions of Americans every year.

First, let’s set the record straight. The US Government is fully aware that there is no known abnormality that is any alleged psychiatric disorder. Secondly, there are no psychiatric drugs sold that “treat” any known abnormality in the brain. Lastly, the pharmaceutical companies admit that they don’t know how any psychiatric drugs “work” as “treatment” for any alleged psychiatric disorder. The pharmaceuticals admit that they think they know how the drugs work, but can’t exactly explain how the drugs work.

Having said that, one can look back historically and see how the federal government supported cigarette smoking either through direct payments to tobacco farmers, tax incentives and by weakening any attempts at regulating the extremely lucrative industry.

Plus, it’s no secret that the federal government literally included cigarettes in all military rations from the first World War up to just after the conflict in Vietnam. Smoking cigarettes was part of a soldier’s daily life and, in fact, phrases like “smoke em if you’ve got em,” was coined to encourage soldiers to relax and take a break, essentially a reward.

The federal government also supported tobacco growers by instituting price supports and incentives that helped keep the industry profitable. It wasn’t until 2005 when the Tobacco Transition Payment Program (TTPP) began which provided payments to quota holders and producers for ten years to transition away from the industry.

Although it was long known that cigarette smoking was medically harmful, the tobacco industry enlisted clever advertising to aggressively sell tobacco products, even including medical doctor recommendations. The RJ Reynolds tobacco company claimed, “More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette.”  Some company advertising claim tobacco as medicinal as one Phillip Morris company’s advertising claimed their brand cleared up “every case of nose or throat irritation…completely and definitely.”

But science and medicine did catch up with the Tobacco industry and by the 1970’s advertising was banned from television and radio and laws restricting smoking in public places began locally and quickly spread nationwide. It was in the late 1980’s when the US Surgeon General concluded that nicotine is an addictive substance and began to change the public’s understanding of habit to addiction.

The nail in the tobacco industry’s coffin came after national advertising anti-tobacco media campaigns began in earnest and, ultimately, the 1998 settlement by the tobacco industry to pay billions to states for smoking-related health costs which was poured into additional anti-smoking advertising and health programs. The pro-tobacco advertising suddenly became anti-smoking advertising campaigns by state and federal entities that were successful beyond anticipation. But by this time, the medicine supporting the detriment of smoking could not be suppressed. Smoking tobacco was, contrary to industry advertising, not healthy and, in fact, detrimental to one’s health. The success of those anti-smoking campaigns is found in the extraordinarily low number of children in the last two decades who smoke tobacco. In a nutshell, through state and federal education campaigns, they have convinced the last few generations that cigarette smoking is bad.

Unfortunately, and ironically, those same children now are the poster children for life-long use of prescription psychiatric drugs and the similarities between the governmental support of the tobacco industry and now the mental health industry cannot be ignored.

For example, as was stated up front, there is no science to support any abnormality that is any psychiatric disorder. Nevertheless, the federal government is the largest single payer for mental health services, making up about $30 billion a year in taxpayer funding through Medicaid. But the federal funding is actually much, much more, when one considers the tens of billions of dollars that is appropriated to other government agencies, like the Department of Defense, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to name a few.

Also, like the tobacco industry, the federal government allows the pharmaceutical companies to advertise their psychiatric drug products without proof that the drugs “treat” any known abnormality. Rather drug companies focus on improving symptoms, not a cure. Obviously, the drugs cannot cure what does not exist.

In the case of psychiatric drugs, the deceptive advertising focuses on how a drug can reduce negative feelings.  The expectation, apparently, is that the drug is targeting a specific mood. Of course, the drug isn’t targeting any abnormality. Will a mind-altering drug change behavior? Yes. Is that drug targeting any known abnormality? No.

Many psychiatric drug commercials feature individuals struggling to cope then followed by happy images of that individual after taking the drug. And, most of the advertising shows patients engaging in normal, happy, family-oriented behavior after taking the prescription drug.

Like the tobacco industry, the science, or lack thereof, is finally coming out about alleged mental disorders. For example, for decades the “chemical imbalance” was used by doctors and pharmaceutical companies to explain abnormal behavior and provide “treatments.” The alleged “chemical imbalance” has since been completely debunked, and the psycho/pharma industry has been forced to stop using the theory. Further, despite a hundred years of research, the psychiatric industry has yet to find the cause of any alleged mental disorder.

But, like the tobacco industry, the adverse events associated with the psychiatric drug “treatments” finally are being revealed and one can only hope that the federal government will go after the psycho/pharma industry as doggedly as it did the tobacco industry.

There is no known abnormality that is any alleged psychiatric mental disorder. There is no psychiatric drug that “treats” any known abnormality that is an alleged mental disorder. The science is clear so when will the federal government stop promoting and funding the mental illness fraud? When will the federal government end its complicity in the harm created by pharmaceutical drugs that don’t “treat” any known abnormality?  How many more have to be harmed before the federal government does its job…protect the American people from enemies foreign and domestic?

  1. Unless you have personally lived with the debilitating effects of a mental illness and had your life saved by these medications, you lack the clarity to make such statements on effectiveness. If you had diabetes, would you take insulin? Would you take anti seizure meds for epilepsy? It’s no different with mental illness. At one point, the efficacy of insulin and anticonvulsants was unknown and considered dangerous.

    • Diabetes and epilepsy are PHYSICAL illnesses and are not the same as ADD, ADHD, Schizophrenia, and other MENTAL HEALTH illnesses and issues. The physical illnesses can be treated with medications that are known to work. The mental illnesses are being treated with guesswork medication with known hazardous side effects.

  2. I am hoping/expecting RFK to address the drug commercials. For many years I have been appalled at the medical profession's having a diagnosis for every emotion and a drug to "fix" them all, for treating young children with drugs without knowing what the long-term effects will be. It is, "OMG! You're having a feeling! Here, let me fix that for you." Far too many people maintain a regular pharmacy in their medicine cabinets, a drug for every occasion. I've been offered a pill for my stress, or my anxiety, many times, just like offering a cup of coffee. No wonder our young people no longer grow up, no wonder our world is such a mess.

    • The drug commercials are disgusting and simple propaganda.

I'm an old-timer, and they remind me exactly of the famous movie, 'The Wizard of Oz.'

Nearly every drug commercial has….'Shirley Temple singing an skipping down the yellow brick road toward Oz'…..with birds chirping and butterflies aflutter ……….if only you take the drug they are hawking.
      The indoctrination/messaging is insidious……and it's non-stop.

      • There are only 2 countries in the whole world that allow drug commercials on TV. That is the US and New Zealand. Nowhere else.

    • You ought to see my medicine cabinet. It's an apothecary cabinet full of organic teas, herbs and spices, essential oils and other cool stuff. I'll be 66-years old next month, had a heart attack 12-years ago which sent me on this journey of discovery; and haven't taken a pill for over a decade. Au naturale. Including food, very little, if any, processed junk. All, for the most part, God-given food.

  3. I guarantee if our government would get out of the way, many issues could be treated with psychedelics and other plant medicines.

  4. What about unleaded gasoline? Sounds like they took lead out of the gas. They charged more for a product that did not have the expenses associated with adding lead.

  5. While most psychiatric disorders don’t yet have definitive biological tests, there is extensive scientific evidence showing that they are associated with real brain, genetic, and biochemical differences

    • There's definitely a genetic link between schizophrenia and bipolar. It seems to skip generations sometimes though.

However, a lot of it is drug-induced, specifically with meth which changes the chemical structure of the brain.

Aso, families with high SES have been known to have increased mental illness, specifically Schizophrenia.

    • I'm a firm believer that most psychiatric disorders are caused by childhood trauma…as early as in-the-womb is some cases.
I would urge people to search Dr. Gabor Mate, he has written many books and has many U-tube videos. He is a brilliant guy, IMO.

    • What about one of the most addictive drugs on the planet. Alcohol, also strongly associated with violence & many deaths. Medical controlled MJ benefits many people. What helps some may not help others, however should never be used/prescribed to under A21 patients.

    • It was the therapeutic approach being used. Research has shown that the most effective therapeutic approach is Cognitive Therapy (REBT and CBT). It's been found that Cognitive Therapy is better than the use of drugs for most people. For kids, REBT tends to be better because it has a "fun" approach (the A-B-C) that even kids can use.

  6. The major problem with the original and even current anti-tobacco campaign is its focus on the harm from the smoke. They barely mention nicotine except its addictive effects. Nicotine is one cause of major vascular problems such as Burgher's disease. It causes the constriction of blood vessels and atherosclerosis especially in the extremities. An untold number of people, mostly men, have lost a leg or foot to this. It also is kown to promote cancer growth, even in the colon. There is a long list of its effects. And worse, vaping is pushed even though it contains nicotine.

    • Tobacco has many beneficial ingredients. Suggest anyone that doubts that get a copy of Dr. Campbell Douglass’s book on Amazon, “The benefits of tobacco”. Believe it cost is about $10.

  7. The entire Medical/Industrial complex we live under in America is a Rockefeller hall of mirrors.
"Medicine" in America doesn't Cure (that's bad for business) they only Treat.

    • I wish I could afford to see a homeopathic doctor and also eat a better diet and more red meat. I have done some digging and there are multiple studies showing the benefits of beef ( that’s not pumped full of crap) is beneficial for lupus. I have been a lupus warrior for more than 25 years. The list of issues it has caused over the years would probably stun you. Thankfully though, I have the Lord, love of my family, laughter and generally keep a positive attitude. Those are my weapons of choice in my war with lupus.

  8. And these drugs are prescribed typically for LIFE. That's a really nice gig and business model for
    any company. Lifetime customer base.

  9. Although these drugs seem to increase serotonin or improve focus, exercise can do the same. Our mental health crisis is caused by inactivity and a poor, politically charged education system that teaches kids to be upset and angry at every tiny injustice. It's enough to make any sane person crazy

    • And EMF radiation.

Shungite blocks EMF that is emitted by dirty electricity.

I have friends who had debilitating stress, depression, and anxiety (one who would not leave her home unless she absolutely had to for 2 years) but after I gave her some stones it all went away.

Same thing with a friend's nephew who they feared was on the verge of committing suicide and another friend's son who was addicted to drugs but trying to stop.

      AI information;

"Shungite is believed to offer support for individuals dealing with depression, primarily through its purported ability to promote emotional balance and reduce negative energy."

"Advocates claim that shungite's soothing energy helps with rest and relaxation, making it beneficial for those experiencing depressive symptoms."

"It is thought to assist in clearing destructive thoughts and stabilizing mental health by influencing internal energy flows."

"Some sources suggest that wearing shungite or meditating with it can help alleviate feelings of depression and anxiety by grounding the individual and transforming stress into positive energy."

    • Research long ago had shown that Cognitive Therapy is the most effective approach to depression. It requires NO drugs, only using your own mind.

  10. Psychiatric drugs are prescribed to the very depressed and confused. Once some of them get somewhat stable (according to their quack doctors), some are put on trans-hormonal therapy to begin their transitioning into something very strange.

Between the two different drug therapies, new personalities are born; and some of those personalities you do not want to meet. Think about the subconscious brain fighting a war with Big Pharma, and the brain is getting confused and very ticked-off. The patient is now wired-up tight. It won't take much, now!

Psychiatric drugs rewire the brain, and they make people do things that they normally would not think of doing. Trans-hormonal therapy, now that's a wild animal in a cage looking for a way to get out. Can you say ROID RAGE? It comes with hormonal therapy. Can you sayACTIVE SHOOTERON SCENE because those drug combinations are and have been producing some nasty people?

    • Research has found that Cognitive Therapy can be more effective than drugs for people who are depressed. Thing is, Cognitive Therapy teaches the sufferer a means of dealing with it so there is no need to resort to drugs or to go through it again.

      • I agree. Most doctors treat the symptom while ignoring the cause(s). Talking through problems is always better than reverting to Big Pharma's poisonous pills.

  11. Smoking isn't great for you but nicotine has gotten a bad rap as there's growing body of evidence demonstrating that it has definite therapeutic value.

  12. Nicotine is not the harmful factor in smoking—-it the additives put in that cause harm….many years of people smoking natural tobacco products produced very little harm.

    • Exactly,….Apparently much of this article on tobacco comes from Dem archives, as it was a very political situation with the tobacco industry supporting Republicans.

      • Thank you, I am not familiar with all the chemisty, but have read many articles on cigarettes over the years. I used to smoke, but quit in the 1970’s

        • Nicotine and its high addictive potential
In a 1988 report, the U.S. Surgeon General explicitly compared nicotine’s addictive qualities to those of heroin and cocaine.
The high addictive potential of nicotine is driven by its effects on the brain’s reward system. When inhaled, nicotine reaches the brain within seconds, triggering the release of dopamine. This creates a pleasant, mood-altering effect that reinforces the desire to use the substance again.
Tolerance and withdrawal are also factors in nicotine addiction. The desire to avoid the unpleasant symptoms of withdrawal is a strong driver for continued use.
Data shows that the prevalence of nicotine dependence is higher than for any other substance use disorder. This can be attributed to the high rate of relapse among smokers, with fewer than 5% of those attempting to quit remaining successful over the long term.

          • There was a lot of drug addiction among the military in Vietnam. The VA figured that they were going to have a major problem after the war. A large number of ex-military simply quit when they got back. Although the number of addicted was still rather high but it wasn’t near their expectations. Seems there is a situational factor involved in addiction as well. My father quit cold turkey as well after more than 35 years. He did have motivation. He had a really bad, hacking cough. He went to the doctor and the doctor gave him a choice, “Either quit or die.” He had just bought a pack of Pal Mal cigarettes. He kept that pack unopened till the day he died some 40 years later.

  13. We can't use strong (truthful) language. We can't deny children their "right" to choose gender. Cyberbullying is illegal. All because they say it negatively impacts people yet we can give them drugs with a known side effect of increasing suicidal thoughts and the tendency to commit suicide????? Money talks and it speaks loudly.

  14. Another set-up. It's only a matter of time until the gubbmint sues the pharmaceutical industry, just as they did the tobacco industry, for billions of dollars.

  15. homosexuality is a mental illness
    transgenderism is a mental illness
    leftism is a mental illness
    TDS is a mental illness…

all denied by a corrupt Big Psych cabal

  16. Damned few of these mass shooters are free of psychotropic drugs. Nobody really knows the full side effects of these “mood altering”drugs but shooting large numbers of people is one of the known side effects.

  17. Every time a choice is taken from you, you become and more like a slave. No matter how well intentioned the removal of that choice is.

You will do as you are told and love it.

  18. Uhhh, I smoked for a long time….quit drinking and smoking.

Stop whining about the Almighty Federal Govt being responsible for
    your bad habits!

When Im of a certain age..im gonna start smoking and drinking again…
Why the **** not? I dont wanna live till Im a hundred!

  19. I would argue most psychiatric disorders are severe nutrient deficiencies of the brain (combined with trauma for some – like PTSD).

  20. When the primary goal of big brother is to reduce the population of the world by 7 billion, use your brain.
Think; medicine, cigarettes, legal Marijuana, additives to food, drugs, alcohol, fear pushed by the MSM and Hollywood, and stay far away.
Make sure you have somewhere to go worse case.

  21. I'm 69. I smoked 2 packs a day for over 50 years.. so, I'm a documented 100+ pack year smoker . Feb. 26th 2019
I woke up and just said no more.. and I've now been tobacco free for almost 7 years.. no pre-planning, no pills, patches, acupuncture, acupressure, hypnosis, nothing.. Just the realization that the only one fighting for me was me..so I cold turkey quit.. I tossed my lighters, ashtrays and the last few packs of smokes into the burn barrel and lit it up.. when I turned 65 I moved to South America.. I can now be found hiking, camping and whitewater kayaking in the Amazon jungle..
People only quit when they independently decide to or when theres no more tobacco to be had.. or when they're dead..

  22. My entire team of psychologists and psychiatrists said I should pay no mind to this article. Then they told me about a huge sale on high-caliber ammo. Great guys, indeed.

  23. Dr Bryan Ardis stated nicotine is not addictive. The 500 additives to cigarettes are the culprit. There are benefits in nicotine. Do you know nicotine is in eggplant and tomatoes?

  24. They prescribe these poisons and then their next question is "do you feel suicidal"?

They did that to someone I know. Gave him something that was supposed to have a calming effect but only made him paranoid and afraid.

  25. Kids are so much healthier these days because they don't smoke(sarcasm). Government demonized tobacco companies so they could steal their profits.

  26. Per Dr. Bryan Ardis, tobacco CEO's testified under oath before Congress that nicotine is not addictive.

There is video proof of them all, individually attesting to this.

It became addictive in 1970 when they added pyrazines to cigarettes to make them addictive as well as arsenic to cause cancer and sugar to the wrappers to feed the cancer. I believe he said that they can add at least 57 different different chemicals to the tobacco.

Apparently anything they add pyrazines too make them addictive.

  27. I was surprised when I found out that not only is nicotine by itself is not addictive but that there are 10-12 nicotine receptors in every cell in our bodies and that it is is basically a cure all for just about everything.

We have used it to cure arthritis, long covid symptoms, itching from psoriasis, various heart conditions, and cure/stop MS, Alzheimers, Parkinson's, etc. as long as it is pure/organic.

Look up Dr. Bryan Ardis in conjunction with the word Nicotine to learn what we have long known.

    See the following video;

"Nicotine Is Not the Villain: What Big Pharma Hides From Parents | Dr. Bryan Ardis, DC"

Also that Indians were using it to cure diseases and even their horses from snakebites and that birds use it as an antiparasitic.

I believe that Dr. Bryan Ardis said that they can add at least 57 different different chemicals to tobacco.

    AI response with regard to pyrazines and addiction;

"Research indicates that pyrazines may enhance addiction through multiple mechanisms. They can optimize the delivery and dosing of nicotine to the brain, leading to stronger or faster effects.
Additionally, the sensory cues provided by pyrazines—such as aroma and taste—can trigger conditioned learning and reward-related behaviors, reinforcing the habit and playing a critical role in the development, maintenance, and relapse of tobacco dependence."

"These sensory inputs may also reduce the aversion to smoking by making the experience smoother and less harsh, especially for novice users."

Per Dr. Bryan Ardis, tobacco CEO's testified under oath before Congress that nicotine is not addictive.

There is video proof of them all, individually attesting to this.

  29. Nicotine, although possibly addictive is not the culprit for causing health problems but the additives tobacco companies have put in their cigarettes. To much nicotine causes elevated blood pressure but it takes a huge amount and nicotine is an essential substance found in the human body.

  30. Phenomenal video about nicotine which is a cure all;

"Nicotine Is Not the Villain: What Big Pharma Hides From Parents | Dr. Bryan Ardis, DC"

Also serves as a treatment for mental issues described in this article.

  31. The entire Medical/Industrial complex we live under in America is a Rockefeller creation.
He loved power and control… as well as money.

  32. In part, I beg to differ, Joe. Where did you come up with; 'There is no known abnormality that is any alleged psychiatric mental disorder.'? Observational data is still science.

  33. Some time back I became curious. I got a copy of the PDR and began looking at the percentages of the effects of physiological and psychological drugs. In other words, I wanted to find out just how much help these drugs actually were to people. When I first started college many years before I began doing research on the placebo effect. That is, knowing that placebos do have an influence on mental and physical health how much help do placebos actually give? I waw that the research has shown that 1/3 of those receiving a placebo will have a strong effect, 1/3 will have some effect and 1/3 will have no effect. Then, I found is that even though drugs are tested against placebos the drugs fall into the same percentages as placebos. So, a drug that has given help to 2/3 of those given the drug, it is no more effective than a placebo.
