FBI Director Kash Patel was told a few months ago to get rid of Steven J. Jensen. Now Jensen has come back to bite Patel.
When new media told Kash Patel that Steve Jensen was not someone he should have in his department, Patel balked at the warnings and kept Jensen.
Steve Jensen was the Section Chief at DTOS who decided to use Counter Terrorism investigations to go after January 6 defendants.
He should hide his head in shame, and the FBI should be ashamed Patel and Bongino defended him on Fox News. https://t.co/0JnAU0pK8D pic.twitter.com/C7ZI8MiUE4

According to reports Jensen was “fired” in August after being appointed to the DC position due to his actions surrounding Jan 6.
Former top South Carolina FBI official Steven Jensen, who was promoted to lead the prestigious Washington field office in March, was fired this week because of his work investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, according to multiple news reports.
Jensen was fired because he participated in and helped lead investigations into the thousands of people who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to reports by CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
MSNBC hack Ken Dilanian shared the news of Jensen’s termination. The fact the Dilanian shared the news should give you a clue to who Jensen was.
Colleagues,
Last night I was informed that my employment with the FBI will be terminated effective tomorrow, August 8, 2025. I intend to meet this challenge like any other I have faced in this organization, with professionalism, integrity, and dignity. I am confident the WFO leadership team will continue to lead through any challenges you may face in the future.
Where WFO goes, the rest of the Bureau follows. Your unwavering commitment to the mission, integrity of purpose, and extraordinary accomplishments set standards for the rest of the FBI. Over the past five months, I have seen each of you rise to the occasion with any request sent your way — from supporting high-profile investigations, multiple critical-incident/NSSE responses, and last minute briefings to inform the highest levels of the United States Government. The road has not always been easy, but when confronted with challenges, you’ve come together as a team to uphold the rule of law both here and globally.
It has been an honor to be a public servant, first in local law enforcement and over the last 19 years with the FBI. As you know, I come from a long line of law enforcement professionals. That’s a legacy I hold dear. I have served in multiple offices across this organization, worked with incredibly talented people, but serving in the flagship office of the world’s premier law enforcement agency has been the privilege of a lifetime. I am honored and humbled to have served alongside you. Thank you for giving me that opportunity.
Never waver in your resolve to answer the call to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution. Continue to be bold and aggressive in the pursuit of justice. Most importantly, stay safe and take care of each other.
Be the FBI.
Steve

Now the decision to keep Jensen is coming back to bite Patel. In the piece below, Jensen reportedly petitioned Patel to keep agents and/or protect their FBI pensions rather than let them go or better yet, arrest them.
Dir Patel fired two FBI agents who (among other things) spied on sitting US senators.
The former agents ran to NBC and NYT to moan about pensions.
In the past, Wray let agents who committed serious misconduct retire and receive full government pension, see example of Stephen… pic.twitter.com/407ch56keH
