A top Cardinal at the Vatican under Pope Francis wrote a book about sex in the 1990s that has been hidden until now.
Cardinal Fernandez wrote a book years ago that was recently uncovered.
The book was about sex.
The National Catholic Register shares:
Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, one of the most powerful men in the Vatican, responded to criticism about a book he wrote in the 1990s on spirituality and sensuality, noting that he canceled the book shortly after its publication.
Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, one of the most powerful men in the Vatican, responded to criticism about a book he wrote in the 1990s on spirituality and sensuality.
“I certainly would not write [that] now,” Cardinal Fernández, who serves as the prefect for the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, told Crux, noting that he had written the book when he was younger.
“Long after that book I wrote much more serious ones like The Healing Force of Mysticism and The Transforming Force of Mysticism,” Cardinal Fernández told Crux.
The cardinal noted that he canceled the sexually themed book shortly after its publication and “never allowed it to be reprinted.” He added that he wrote it for young couples “who wanted to better understand the spiritual meaning of their relationships” but then realized it “could be misinterpreted.”
Those who located and released the book say this:
The book is blasphemous and scandalous. It’s a pornographic exegetical interpretation about the mystics and their spiritual experiences of ecstasy. On top, he dared to add a testimony of a 16 year old girl (16!) that revealed to him her “erotical mystical experience” with Jesus… (chapter 6 – see Spanish version).
