The bullet that killed conservative commentator Charlie Kirk did not match the rifle used by suspected killer Tyler Robinson, a bombshell new court filing states.
Robinson, 22, is facing capital murder charges and a potential death sentence for Kirk’s murder at Utah Valley University on September 10.
But his defense attorneys now argue that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ‘was unable to identify the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr Robinson.’
This is really not too much of a shock, AbleChild and Joe Hoft reported in October 2025, only a month after the shooting that there were some major holes in the Kirk case.
Officials in Utah have yet to publicly confirm whether the bullet that fatally struck Charlie Kirk was recovered, a critical piece of evidence in the ongoing assassination trial. The autopsy, carried out under Utah’s Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Deirdre Amaro, is central to the case but remains shrouded in secrecy, fueling questions about transparency and accountability. FBI Director Kash Patel stated in an interview on Fox News’s Fox & Friends, “I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” underscoring the importance of DNA evidence linked to the case while leaving key forensic details, including bullet recovery, undisclosed. At no point has it been officially confirmed that DNA was found directly on the gun itself.
Dr. Deirdre Amaro, Utah’s Chief Medical Examiner and a key figure on Governor Spencer Cox’s Fentanyl Task Force, is under intense scrutiny as she manages the autopsy process in the trial of Tyler Robinson, accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk in an event that captured worldwide attention. Despite her pivotal role, no official public release has been made of the autopsy report or confirmation that the fatal bullet was recovered and matched to the firearm involved. [emphasis added]
State law mandates Dr. Amaro conduct the autopsy but does not compel public disclosure of the findings. This silence has raised significant questions, as officials have refrained from confirming whether the bullet was recovered or linked to the rifle—a vintage Mauser bolt-action weapon found wrapped in a towel near the scene. The DNA evidence, publicly acknowledged by FBI Director Kash Patel, establishes a physical connection to the suspect but leaves open questions about forensic completeness.

Utah’s prosecutors of the Kirk case are under scrutiny for accusations of conflicts of interest. The defense team for Tyler Robinson has filed a motion to have the County prosecutor’s office removed from the case. Apparently, a key prosecutor’s family member was present at the Utah Valley University campus where Kirk was shot. However, there are bigger conflicts in this case, not illustrated in the media coverage.
Governor Cox’s statements about the manhunt and surrender, the blackout on the ballistics and autopsy reports, Robinson’s mother employed by a state behavioral-health provider, and the mental-health provider who breached the crime scene all expose what appear to be systemic conflicts. Ethically it is impossible to think Utah would be a neutral place for any type of justice for Charlie Kirk. Recall Kirk tweeted: “Utah Governor Spencer Cox should be expelled from the Republican party.’”
The omissions in the case go to the heart of motive and network. Robinson’s reported romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, has never been charged in the case, despite having been aware of the shooting long before police made an arrest. In fact, it’s anyone’s guess where Twiggs is today, and whether prosecutors can explain why Twiggs did not contact law enforcement when first notified by Robinson that the assassination had occurred. One wonders why withholding that information from law enforcement didn’t make Twiggs an accessory after the fact? Twiggs clearly aided Robinson by withholding Robinson’s text messages. Twiggs did not contact law enforcement after Robinson allegedly confessed to the assassination of Kirk, a felony. But crickets about Twiggs’s role. Why?
There also is no transparent accounting of the shooter’s mother’s employment for a State behavioral-health provider or whether Robinson’s diagnoses, medications, and risk assessments were mishandled in ways that implicate state-funded mental health care. Additionally, prosecutors have said nothing about the mental-health provider who breached the crime scene and moved freely through key evidence areas, despite ties to the same state behavioral-health and DEI ecosystem.

There can be many reasons for that, including that the bullet was severely damaged or deformed, or wear and tear of the barrel.

By the first day i was certain that Robinson was a patsy.

It's not about making a mess of the murder. It's about the bullet does not match the rifle. And Robinson's DNA is not on the rifle. And don't try to use Utah and it's radical Governur and this whole trannie stuff going on in Utah. These two negative facts could make the judge say the magic words: case dismissed. And Robinson could walk. And don't come up with shit about the bullet is not the one they found in Charlie's body. There's no proof of that. Something is really, really wrong here. And local police and FBI hasn't done their job. How 'bout the text messages between Robinson and Twigs? Are they verified to have passed through the network? I'm not saying Robinson didn't do it, or something. What I'm saying is that case is crumbling. And I'm asking why did they bring this case to court without having facts right? They got a weak case against Robinson. Btw. is the rifle, the rifle of his father, and was the rifle fired just before they found it? Why did Police and FBI do such a bad job?
