After Putting DEI Ahead of Profits, Will Nike Be Saved by the Release of Caitlin Clark’s Shoes

Nike Put DEI Ahead of Profits and Failed Historically – Will the Release of Caitlin Clark’s Shoes Save the Company?

Nike took way too long to put out the Caitlin Clark shoe.  It looks like it would have been smarter to put it out much sooner.  The stock price has plummetted and the company is no longer a member of the S&P 500.

Nike’s fall began when it made DEI a priority.

Future generations of marketing classes will look back and ask how Nike could be so stupid.

As a result of forgetting that they were a business, they lost money, stock value, and fell out of the S&P 100.

Fortunately, although they blundered this as well, the Caitlin Clark shoes may save Nike.

Nike says Caitlin Clark’s signature shoe needed time. Fine. Let’s look at the timelines.

From public signature-shoe announcement to retail:

Sabrina Ionescu: 169 days
Angel Reese: 329 days
A’ja Wilson: 360 days
Breanna Stewart: 492 days
Caitlin Clark: 891 days

And while Caitlin waited, Nike also found time to release Paige Bueckers player editions, including her GT Hustle 3 PE in 2024 and the “Shirley Buckets” GT Cut 4 in 2026. Paige’s first PE was announced on December 2 and hit retail five days later.

Why did the biggest commercial phenomenon women’s basketball has ever seen have to wait roughly 891 days for her signature shoe while everybody around her kept getting product to market?

Nike can defend the 891-day wait all it wants.

The stock chart certainly isn’t making the case that every strategic decision coming out of Beaverton was brilliant.

For the record, Aja Wilson’s shoes were a flop.

There is hope for Nike.

But Caitlin Clark is one of the top names in sports, both in the US and internationally.  She brought millions of new fans to the WNBA and is filling venues across the US and now Europe.

Clark’s new blue shoe will be released internationally.

Maybe Clark will create the same excitement with Nike that she has with women’s basketball.

    • I hope she got her money up front. The company was DELISTED from the stock exchange which means it is filing for bankruptcy.

All those SLA VE-LABOR wages paid to CHINESE WORKERS who put in 12 hour days to make ends meet ARE ENDING. Nike is shutting down factories in China.

  1. Well, Caitlin Clark is a hardcore, America-hating Kamalho dSA lib who has no problem with men in women's sports – SO, her lib comrades might buy her shoes (at least the Planned Parenthood abortion pink version).

    • 2026- 46.00
      2012 – 22.00
      2021- 137.00
SO FROM A PEAK OF 2021 ISH IT HAS LOST 67% OF ITS VALUE. PURE ON A STOCK FINANCIAL CHOICE NO ENDORSEMENT OF NIKE I WOULD
LET IT FALL TO 30-35 AND BUY. SHORTING NOW IS A LIL RISKY BUT GOOD FOR A DAY TRADE PLAN FOR ABOUT 3 WK/21 DAY INTERVALS.
MAJOR CORPS HAVE BEEN TANKING STOCKS OVER THE LAST 8-10 YEARS TO NEW LOWS AND THE SMART ONES BUY IN JUST BEFORE IT TURNS UP. NIKE WILL BE AROUND FOR A WHILE MERELY ON BRANDING NOT QUALITY.

  2. Most girls don't give two bleeps about girls' basketball. This won't move the needle. As far as the customers that Nike lost, we are gone forever. They could fire all of their executives and hire Trump to run the company, I still wouldn't buy their products.

  3. Anyone who buys Nike brand equipment supports the use of slaves. I’ve never owned anything Nike in my adult life. I won’t buy Levi because they are against our 2nd amendment.

  4. Ummmmmm. What about CLARK?????
She's ASSOCIATED HERSELF with this woke shitttttt for MONEY. So she deserves to be screwed in the profits department JUST AS MUCH AS NIKE. You CANT SEPARATE the two on this.

  5. She should make a deal with me and start our new shoe company – I've got the perfect name and the perfect tag line.

  6. Who cares. She is enthralled with the DEI nonsense herself. Never have bought Nike, there are better alternatives available.

  7. Not only does she refuse to defend herself, she attacks anyone who comes to her defense. So I'm done with her. Plus girls don't hold sneakers in the same esteem as boys, so good luck nike.

  8. Nike doesn't want to put out the Caitlin Clark edition shoe. Their woke board of directors is quite obviously waiting for Clark to be forced out of the league and into obscurity.

  9. She had to chance to take a stand like Cunnigham did. She blew it. Who wants to wear the shoes of a girl who won't stand up for her self and is a DEI woke Stockholm Syndrome victim?

    Keep dreaming, Hoft.

  10. They are desperate. Slave labor plastic and rubber. And now they want to capitalize on the drama the WNBA brings us. Sorry, ain't buying…..(of course I never bought NIKE in the first place).

  11. Angel Reese shoes were made but chicks couldn't keep their feet in them and kept trying by rebounding…….

  12. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, they have to hold their tongues and play the heel.

The other shoe has dropped and now they are going to walk a mile in the shoes of those who tried to warn them.

  13. "Clark’s new blue shoe will be released internationally"
Hopefully, coinciding with her moving to Europe.

  14. I don't hear Clark complaining. If Clark wants to make money from shoes she can go to a company that thinks they can make good money off it.

  15. The boycott continues. Too many other, much better alternatives when it comes to sneakers/athletic wear. You couldn’t pay me to soil my feet in a pair of nasty Nikes!

  16. It's ironic that a White, straight, Christian woman may quite possibly bail Nike out of their DEI nightmare! Of course they did so kicking and screaming all the way but finally had to acquiesce!

  17. NIKE is finished. Even the sl ave labor factories in China and SE Asia are shutting down. Clark was outed for having caved to the cabal and accepted DEI along with men in women's sports. She cut herself off at the knees. People are done with woke.

  18. Cathy Engelbert is retiring as president of WNBA after 7 1/2 years at the helm. AP lauded her for the increase in income for players and getting chartered flights. All accomplished within the last three years. No mention of Clark in article, naturally.

  19. Caitlin Clark chose NOT to stand up for girls/women’s sports against allowing trans males, and she chooses NIKE…2 big mistakes. AMERICANS are DONE with NIKE !!!

  20. Even if I could afford it, I still wouldn't buy NIKE shoes or invest in the company.
But I can't afford it. I need to think about what food I can afford instead of putting what's left of my bank account into a name brand for my feet.
    Priorities.

  21. Don't believe many black folks or lesbians will buy them lol… and normal white folks are not huge fans of the racist LGBTQNBA…

  22. Have you noticed that the whole marketing team consists out of women? Do you think that has anything to do with it?

  23. Clark might be the best player who is an actual woman, but Nike shoes are too narrow and they don't make Men's 15's or 16's usually. I'd never even consider them, especially with price. There are only a few basketball shoes that fit the bill anyway, so to speak.

  24. My question would be, why would Clark want to be associated with the liberal leftist trash Nike corporation anyways?!

  25. Nike should just allow Taco Bell to buy them out, let Taco Bell absorb them in, and stop making shoes, and start making tacos that are shaped like shoes.

  26. The only thing that can save Nike is selling shoes. Nike’s problem is they make shoes but they don’t sell shoes. They sell woke BS that nobody’s buying. Not at the store. Not on the stock exchange.

  27. So Nike's hanging their hopes on these new shoes in the hopes that WNBA market penetration is deep enough to generate enough sales to save their company? Yah, right. They can call them "Error Jordans."

  28. I haven’t bought any Nike stuff since Kaperdick and I won’t buy any of Clark’s stuff either. When she bent over for the woke crowd I was done with her. If she had stood her ground I would have bought her stuff for my granddaughter.

  29. THEY don't care about proffits. Majority of stock is controlled by Investment frims who are controlled by da International Bankster Scum behind da Curtain and THEY want Western Civilization to collapse.
    .
Clark should have some pride and went with another shoe company!
    .
I have ZERO sympathy for her!

  30. The only reason why this shoe brand took off in the early 80's was because of the Journey concert in Houston that was on MTV in 1981. Steve Perry was wearing a pair of those famous white Nike's with the red "swoosh" and all the kids thought that was cool. In with a few weeks, a lot of high school kids were wearing them.

Then they got more traction with their brand when Michael J Fox wore the same design of Nike in Back to the Future that was released in 1985. And just like before, kids were buying them because "they're cool." And from those two moments, the brand grew in popularity.

If it was any other athletic shoe brand in those two moments, Nike wouldn't be where they are today.

    • SAME THING VANS SHOES DID…CHECKERBOX SHOES WERE MUST HAVES..THEN ALONG CAME FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT AND EVERY POSER VALLEY PUTZ ON EARTH JUST NEEDED A PAIR.
BUT TRUTH BE TOLD IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW I WOULD BE A RETIRED SHOE SALESMEN.

    • John McEnroe wearing them on the court had a lot to do with it. I didn't know any kids who thought Journey was cool. It was Ozzy and Van Halen.

  31. Leftist don't like giving money to any individual period. This is how these athletes make big bank with the endorsements.

  32. Caitland will get paid for the endorsements regardless…..

WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD BOYCOTT THE ROT…..NIKE BELONGS IN THAT CATEGORY!

  33. People might enjoy the WNBA sideshow in the same way they scroll through "fail" shorts on Instagram, but I just don't think many would shell out their hard-earned cash for sport shoes with some chick's name on them.

  34. Well, we won't be buying any just like anything (NIKE) since the kneeler racist thug got NIKE $$$ and support after he quit on his teammates and contract.

  35. Never Ever Nike
    Catlyn,
big mistake signing with Nike who advised you on this???
I think this move lost some supporters
    better to sue the WNBA

  36. KEDS use to cost a couple bucks….who is dumb enough to spend $100 or more for a pair of sneakers? Oops, we know that answer. For shoes that have a manufacturing cost of less than $5.00. I would prefer to run in crocs (check prices in Asia BTW…not the US where they run $30.00…where crocs cost a couple dollars). The alternative…..barefoot…like our ancestors from a long time ago (and some tribes still).

  37. Short answer: No, Nike won't be saved by Caitlyn shoes. They'll have a sales spike and that's about it. Clark has been mum about men in women's sports, unlike her BFF Sophie Cunningham, whose vocal public comments have her now facing ejection from the WNBA. The Woke left has no tolerance for white, straight females. [Edit: They fully endorse the trans farce as well]. Clark will thrive fine walking in political silence, with the multi-million-dollar endorsements she's received from different companies (Nike, Capitol One, Gatorade, etc.). As long as she keeps her political mouth shut, she even has a coaching or acting career possible after she leaves the court.

  38. Why would Caitlyn go with a woke company like Nike to begin with???

It would be funny though, watching Nike try to explain how a straight white girl, saved their —- bacon!!!

Im looking forward to seeing it!!!

  39. NO. Nike lost all honor and respect after going directly against common sense and reason. That is why NIKE is no longer listed in the top 100 corporations. Their overall value has diminished to less than 30% of what the corporation used to be worth. Just look at their stocks value and see for yourself. Their currect value PROVES, "GO WOKE! GO BROKE!" Also, proving that the DEI FINKS pushing their unreasonable lack of common sense ignorance are-in-fact COMMUNISTS in their heartless-hearts and mindless-minds.

Let the consequences take charge and do what needs to be done.

  40. This Caitlin witch is a sell out. I don't feel sorry for her one bit, after kneeling for the woke perverts. Die Nike. Just do it.

  41. nikes make my feet hurt — last Nike Air i owned were golf shoes i bought in the 80s — put on new spikes, cleanted them up, traded them for a Plop Putter

  42. It’s astonishing to me that people purchase articles of clothing or footwear because someone famous endorses it. It’s so pathetic. Humans are so strange.

  43. Is this a serious question? I mean really? Clark’s signature shoes? Is this a joke? Nobody cares about the WNBA. These shoes will go over like a fart in church. Sell your Nike stock while you can folks.

  44. I barely wanted to even comment on this hilarious joke let alone shell out $200 dollars for a pair of shoes that don’t mean a damn thing.

  45. Nike shoes aside, Caitlin Clark is the WNBA's golden goose, and for some 'strange' reason, they're doing their best to kill it, which is a sign of peak stupidity.

  46. I don't care if God himself had a shoe from nike I still would not buy it, and you should not either and shame on her for supporting the same people who hate her being WHITE and STRAIGHT

  47. Will NIKE be saved …
depends on how many sheepy tv advert goaded idiots give the NIKE exec.s their money for the disposable trendy shoes.

  48. I won't let anyone in my family near her shoes….Nike or non brand. Caitlin Clark just happens to be their focal point but she us as Woke as the worst.

  49. Hmmm… Adults not buying, So target the kids? So….. Who has the money? I thought Japanese were supposed to be smart? Did China buy them out?

  50. I wouldn't by a pair of Nike shoes if they were endorsed by JC himself.
And I'm shocked they want to sell me a Caitlin Clark White Privilege shoe! Shocked I tell you!
