Wyoming Coroner Claims, 10 to 1 If You Are Taking Your Psych Meds Correctly You Won’t Die, Bill Fails to Test for Psych Drugs After Death

Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, careless statements and unfounded assertions can jeopardize outcomes that truly matter. And sometimes the information being circulated is simply wrong. What’s most concerning, however, is when such inaccuracies come from medical doctors and those who should have known better.

During a legislative hearing in Wyoming of the Joint Labor, Health & Social Services Committee, AbleChild submitted testimony in support of 26LS0205 – The Data Collection and Toxicology Transparency Act. In a nutshell, if approved, this legislation would have required the coroner to investigate and report the presence of psychiatric medications in all suicide and homicide deaths.

Laramie County Coroner, Rebecca Reid, was present at the hearing, opposing the recommended legislation. That the coroner opposed the legislation wasn’t the problem. Laying out her concerns, Reid explained her opposition this way, “psychiatric medications are among the most prescribed medications and their presence in toxicology reports do not establish causation.”

Reid is correct. The problem is that the recommended legislation never intended for the coroner to establish cause of death based on the toxicological results revealing psychiatric drugs (including therapeutic levels) in the system of the deceased.

Furthermore, Reid explains also that “mandating reporting without proper context risks misinterpretation of data and may inadvertently stigmatize mental health treatment.” Interesting. Reid almost sounds like a spokesperson for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness and an attorney for Big Pharma). Reid is making a simple request more difficult than necessary.

The legislation was never intended to do anything except collect data as to whether the deceased did or did not have psychiatric drugs in their system at the time of death. What part of that data could possibly cause stigmatization?  All due respect to the honorable Coroner Reid but given the ever-increasing number of Americans (1 in 4 adults) being diagnosed with a mental illness and, in fact, experts calling it a national “crisis,” one can hardly imagine that being stigmatized for having a mental illness is even possible.

Reid further had problems with requiring targeted medication investigations in every suicide and homicide because it would “impose a significant administrative burden, potential delay and other critical death investigation and diverging attention for more pressing matters.” How? One could argue that blood is routinely taken from the deceased for toxicology tests for illegal drugs. How much of a burden could it be to use that same blood to test for legal prescription psychiatric drugs? Perhaps, if similar legislation is considered in the future, the coroner could explain this perceived administrative burden.

Reid wrapped up her opposition by raising the issue of privacy, explaining that “mental health treatment is deeply personal,” and mandating specific drug investigation is outside the scope of the coroner’s role.” There was never any intent to make the deceased known. Again, it is simply data collection, not who but what.  By the way, HIPPA was never intended to shield psychiatrists from giving children cocktails of drugs or to protect mass killers who kill citizens in schools, malls, and churches.

It was of special interest during the coroner’s question and answer period when she explained to lawmakers that “in Laramie County, 98% of our cases have alcohol and illegal drugs in their systems. If someone is taking their medication like they’re supposed to, ten to one they’re not gonna die by suicide.” How would the coroner know this information if she has never conducted toxicology tests for psychiatric drugs?

Plus, it cannot be ignored that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has put Black Box warnings (the most serious warning before pulling a drug from the market) on all antidepressant drugs for Suicidality. Yes, the antidepressants can cause those taking the drugs to commit suicide.

Finally, Dr. David Foreman, a psychiatrist who testified in opposition to the legislation, clearly wins with the most half-baked theories provided to lawmakers that day. According to Foreman, “the way they work (medications for depression) they actually take a couple of weeks to get the effect meaning it has to go into your brain…you have to make new RNA…DNA, new RNA, and it basically takes several weeks to get the effect.”  No. This is not true. New DNA and RNA are not made when you take antidepressants.

Science does not know what causes depression or any other psychiatric disorder. There is no objective, confirmable abnormality that is depression. No test is available to measure brain chemicals. And the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the antidepressants have no idea how the drug “works’ as “treatment” for any psychiatric disorder.

The psychiatrist was good enough to explain that “once you take more than three medications, it’s hard to predict what is going to happen.” Yep. Three mind-altering drugs are difficult to keep track of and how they may adversely affect the patient. And, finally, Foreman says “polypharmacy could be a…significant problem.”  Truer words have never been spoken. Hence the reason for the requested legislation.

Unfortunately, Wyoming’s lawmakers were not provided with enough factual information to make an informed decision and, apparently, taking the advice of Coroner Reid and psychiatrist Foreman, decided to shelve the legislation.

How many are dying in Wyoming while on psychiatric medications is important information. The drug data may not show any causation between the psychiatric drugs and the death, but the collected data would have shown a pattern/association of psychiatric drug use and death.  Wyoming legislators have chosen to do nothing to try and find out what is causing the increased suicides in the state and to quote psychiatrist Foreman, “it’s hard to predict what is going to happen.”

Since 2015, Wyoming has ranked among the top three states for suicide rates in the nation. From 2018-2021, Wyoming had the highest rate of suicide in all fifty states. There were 352 suicides in Wyoming for the combined years of 2021-2022 for an overall rate of 30.4 suicide deaths per 100,000 population.  In individuals under the age of 29, there were 92 recorded suicides, including 6 in children aged 10 to 14. Additionally, there were 13 homicides within this age group, 6 of which involved victims under 14 years old. Source.

      • ALL Prescription drugs are poison, IMHO. In Chemotherapy, the plan is to suppress the immune system to nothing, then feed the patient toxins that are supposed to kill the cancer and only half-kill the patient. You don't catch cancer like a dose of the flu. It's already in everyone's body, but their immune system has cytokines that keep it in check. When Cancer develops into a disease, it's a failure of the immune system to recognize it and destroy it, and until Cancer is recognized and treated as an immune system problem, they'll never find a cure for it.
Read the warnings and indications on almost *any* modern prescription drug, and the "side effects" on nearly all of them are generally Liver and Kidney failure, Cancer, and possible Death.
When did "Possible DEATH" become a *side effect* of treating a disease?
I'm not saying don't trust your Doctor, I'm saying do your own research, ask questions, and if you don't get comprehensive answers from your Doctor, you might want to go shopping for a new one.

          • I believe so also. Not just a cure for this type cancer, or that type. The actual BOTTOM line cure for any cancer.

The medical "Industry" discovered their mistake with the Polio vaccine. Suddenly there were no new patients. Sales for wheelchairs, crutches, braces, therapy, footwear, lifelong treatment and MEDICATIONS etc. dropped off to only those with other problems.

They learned to make sure nothing was ever "cured", but developed great expensive drugs to treat symptoms for the patient's LIFETIME.

          • Been there, done that. i'll try to do a short version here, LOL!. Doc put me on heavy chemo for a series of 6 six week doses. I almost died 3 times during the 2nd "round". i quit without doing the other 4 (24 more weeks..a 1/2 yr!!)

When I felt well enough, I went to a different doctor and she wanted to do a couple of biposies to see where to "start." When i "came to", all I saw was a room PACKED with smiling faces that had been waiting for me to wake up.

She said "You're not in remission!!" I thought that was a GOOD thing to hear, right? She said "You don't understand! You're Cancer FREE!! I sent 3 samples and waited for the lab. CLEAR…so I sent 3 more, and then 3 more….You are CANCER-FREE!!"

That SOB was going to chemo me to death to get every penny from my insurnce he could. He NEVER mentioned doing any biopsies to check during my "treatment."

          • Very true! I think I've been stealing other people's luck, or maybe the phrase "Only the good die young" is true! LOL.

I fought throat cancer the year before, but they expected a full "cure." The down side was they told me the daily radiation would destroy my teeth (It did) and I would likely need jaw surgery and one of those voice-boxes put in. My mind pictured the cancer ADs on TV and how awful those people looked.

Somehow my jawbone stayed strong and I didn't need a hole in my throat..The pain from burning the flesh inside and out of your throat every day is DEFINATELY somehing I would wish on my enemies!
            Ha-Ha!!

          • I think you're right! I'm just here to complete some neccessary things. 5 times in my life I "knew" i was about to die, but I was never scared…I was MAD!! The1st time was when my Ex was blasted drunk and had me pinned to the bed, hanging over me and shoved his gun in my mouth and said "Kiss it good-bye, this is the last thing you'll ever see!"

i wasn't afraid, i was furious because who was going to raise our 4 yr. old? He'd have to grow knowing how i died, also. Fortunately, because he was leaning over me, the blood rushed to his head and he blacked out. LOL!

I never thought I'd die from cancer, i just assumed I'd beat it. With the chemo thing, my husband had been ill with heart disease for 8-9 yrs. and the doctors said I was the only thing keeping him alive those yrs. The "side effect" I had was my windpipe and throat swelled shut. I couldn't breathe or speak and was too weak to get up from the chair. My thoughts were "Just great! Glen's going to wake up in the morning and find me dead on the floor! Who's going to care for him? they'll put him in a home." I struggled and finally forced myself to breathe.

He's passed away now, so i'm wondering what it is I still have to do before i go? I hope i don't know what it is, because then i'll be walking around wondering when I'll get hit by a meteor because my time is up! Har-Har-Har!!

        • This came up from search assist: "Adverse drug events harm approximately 2.7 million hospitalized patients in the U.S. annually, leading to over 106,000 deaths each year. This figure does not include deaths from adverse effects occurring outside of hospitals." I doubt they are talking about psychiatric meds. Many drugs can be dangerous.

          • That’s true. You take a drug because your chances are better than not taking it. Still, “Iatrogenic Illness” is the 3# cause of death to Americans.

        • DDr. John Campbell stated on one of his videos that he probably gets cancer 5 or 6 times per day as he is 65. His body usually can handle that by proper immune response but old age causes inefficiency in the immune response and sometimes older people will get cancer because the immune system is not keeping up with all the normal cell mutations of a healthy human body . That's where vitamin d , intermittent fasting and low carb diets add years to older
          peoples lives .

          • I believe he is correct on that assumption. For all their cures and chemicals, Doctors don’t heal disease, they “treat” it, and hope the immune system does the rest.

        • Cancer is a genetic disease. The only way to kill and stop cancer is by killing all the cancerous cells. So far Chemo is the only way to do this.

          • Joe Tippins enters the chat. Pretty definitive statement there Dave. For one thing, cancer is cancer bc of runaway replication. If you can flip a mass from malignant metastatic to benign, did you "kill" it? Chemo destroys all fast replicating cells during division (think mouth, throat, stomach, etc.) and does nothing about the underlying cause.

  1. They already test for drugs and alcohol. The only reason you wouldn't want to add in 'psych meds' to your screening is if you wanted to hide the evidence of a correlation.

    FJB FKH FFBI FDOJ!!!

  2. It's so obvious Reid and Foreman are lying through their teeth. The lawmakers in Wyoming are either inadequate or complicit.

  3. ""Scientists do not know what causes depression". Lots of men in the Bible show "drepression" type conditions which is a normal conflict within the person to stop looking internally and look outwardly. This constant focus on the self does not help. Depression is a spiritual weakness. Job, Moses and Elizah, the most powerfully spirited had to overcome the focus of the self. We ALL have to overcome this selfishness to be cleanse of the foul spirit of the devil.

    • I am sure God can help people suffering with depression, but serious clinical depression is above and beyond the depression most people experience. It is incapacitating. For these people, improvement is not as easy as an attitude change. I wouldn't call it selfishness and do suspect there to be underlying metabolic issues. There is a lot of current research and while I used to work in the field I don't stay up-to-date but a simple search would bring up a lot of information about what they now believe causes clinical depression.

  4. Wait what??? There's a 10 percent chance you're gonna die if you 'take them correctly'!!!
That's only slightly better than Russian Roulette if you load it correctly.

    • I don't know. I've known a lot of people who took these drugs and none died. Well, the only one who did die passed from an intentional overdose. I'm not sure which medication she took for that. The issue is that all drugs can be dangerous. These articles are overblown. The drugs do help many people. There is nothing in these articles about mental illness, nor do they show any sympathy or understanding for the mentally ill. Drug deaths related to psychiatric medication use are often preventable. I suspect a lot of people abuse them, given the widespread habit of inappropriate drug use in the society.

      • Just because these people you know haven’t died yet, doesn’t mean they aren’t massively unhealthy in other ways….
What these pills amount to is a desire to fix a long running problem with an instant-gratification bandage that you reapply every day.
If you’re suffering from mental issues, unfortunately you need to put the work in to fix it. These pills will only make you sicker in different ways.

  5. I will try again. There have been credible studies done about this. A small group of drugs have been found to increase suicidal tendencies, not all of them psychiatric drugs. A larger group of drugs have been found to decrease suicidal tendencies. A simple search will bring it up. There is a lot of information available about the success or failure of psychiatric drugs. It is not a black hole. For the seriously mentally ill the benefit of taking the drugs far outweighs any negatives and people can put up with side-effects in order to live a more normal life, a life free of agonizing symptoms. What I can say with certainty is that there is generally a reduced inclination toward violence by most people taking these meds. As to them being "mind-altering", they don't seem to make people feel high or intoxicated, but rather have the opposite effect of stabilizing mood and perception and eliminating mentally ill thought patterns. People who don't have such severe problems should probably look for other solutions. Many drugs can have negative health outcomes and for those with options there are probably better solutions than medication. Some people simply don't have other good options for symptom relief.

    • While I agree that these drugs have helped the agony of the seriously mentally ill, I question just what percentage of the medicated population they represent

  6. Furthermore, Reid explains also that “mandating reporting without proper context risks misinterpretation of data and may inadvertently stigmatize mental health treatment.”

This objection could be made against any scientific inquiry. Science is based on facts, and this person is really arguing against collecting those facts. Maybe we should stop keeping records on the weather because some future weatherman might misinterpret the data? Simply stated, this person is either a bought and paid for Big Pharma liar, or a Left Wing wacko phrasing her political opinions in the form of scientific opinions.

    • Either way, the fact that the Wyoming legislative body chose to respect the opinion of someone who is obviously tainted, shows a massive lapse in judgement indicating that these people aren’t qualified for the job they’ve been elected to.

  7. I want all politicians and public servants/employees to be tested for both illegal drugs and psychotropic psychiatric drugs!

  8. Every institution seems extremely protective of big pharma. My granddaughter died suddenly of brain bleeds, she was taking psychiatric medications, she was also autistic. They refused to test for the meds, only illegal drugs of which they found none. She was 20 and responsible for administering her meds, I did express my concerns as to her ability to handle the responsibility.

  9. Reid explains also that “mandating reporting without proper context risks misinterpretation of data and may inadvertently stigmatize mental health treatment.”

This is not a coroner's prerogative; to prevent data from being accessible for meta-analysis.

Reid's prior determinations should be reviewed for inaccuracies.

  10. IIf You want to hear the actual life stories of people who used and weaned themselves off of psy meds go to Taperclinic on YouTube. First hand accounts of people who got hooked on useless meds and the absolutely monumental battles fought trying to regain their health and dignity .

  11. The psychotic med are deadly. We see their effect on young men all the time in the courts. Suicide happens when they take those meds which leads to the use of illegal drugs. Homicide and school shootings happen when they stop taking those meds cold turkey. From feeling nothing to hating everything.

The entire field of psychology is just made up garbage, NO study of the brain. No study or testing of the chemicals that make up a healthy brain..no testing of anything at all. Psychology was created by Big Pharma to sell drugs. The modern day version of Voodoo witch doctors.

Who addicts children on these mind destroying meds? The PUBLIC SCHOOLS..the most dangerous place for children in America.

  12. So 1 in 10 you WILL die from a psych med? Every anti-depressant on the market lists suicide, homicide, and/or violence as known "adverse reactions" in its package insert .

  13. The cowboy state completely screwed this up. This law was for the people who don’t take their psych meds correctly and who are likely to be the mass murderers.
