ABLECHILD: Psychiatric Experimental Drug Cocktails on Trial in Massachusetts

Psychiatric Experimental Drug Cocktails on Trial in Massachusetts

“If defendants had not acted negligently, and rather had provided adequate care, it is more likely than not that Patrick and Lindsay’s children would still be alive today.” This is the summation of the lawsuit brought by Patrick Clancy against the mental health practitioners responsible for the “treatment” of his wife, Lindsay, who is being tried for the murder of their three small children.

To say that this is an exceptional lawsuit is an understatement. While not precedent setting, it is extraordinary from the standpoint of attempting to hold the prescribing psychiatrists responsible for the deadly outcome of their drug cocktail “treatments.” Yes. It is time that the careless experimentation with cocktails of prescription psychiatric drugs be laid bare.

In September of 2022, having experienced anxiety about returning to work after the birth of her third child, registered nurse Lindsay Clancy sought out psychiatric treatment and was diagnosed with “chronic generalized anxiety disorder and chronic adjustment disorder with depressed mood” and was prescribed the antidepressant sertraline (Zoloft). By all accounts, Lindsay’s mental state got worse, not better and “was paranoid of getting suicidal thoughts, something bad happening, doesn’t want to be alone.”

By November of that year, Lindsay’s mental health had deteriorated to the point of her seeking emergency room treatment where she was prescribed a second antidepressant, trazodone, which was not effective. A third antidepressant, fluoxetine (Prozac) was prescribed to Lindsay who reported feeling “spacey and disconnected…”

At the same time, Lindsay was prescribed zolpidem tartrate (Ambien), mirtazapine (Remeron), and clonazepam (Klonopin) – a sedative, antidepressant and a benzodiazepine. This additional drug cocktail did not help Lindsay, and she reported “still feeling disoriented, forgetful, not connected to her body” … “when she wakes up, she is feeling ‘hung over’ and petrified that she is becoming ‘addicted to benzos.’”  Quetiapine Fumarate (Seroquel) an antipsychotic was prescribed.

By the end of November of 2022, Lindsay had been prescribed mind-altering drug cocktails by three practitioners. Lindsay admitted that she had “experienced intrusive thoughts of wanting to die and had contacted ASPIRE Crisis support.” Husband Patrick attended a visit with Lindsay’s prescriber and advised that Lindsay’s anxiety had “become significantly worse since starting psychiatric medications.” Lindsay’s Zoloft was increased and Diazepam (Valium), another benzodiazepine, was added to her cocktail of mind-altering drugs.

Lindsay had been experiencing suicidal ideation throughout the month of December 2022, and was prescribed lamotrigine (Lamictal), an anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer. Near the end of December of 2022, Lindsay admitted herself into Women & Infants hospital and reported experiencing “suicidal ideation, heart palpitations, severe depression, a feeling of numbness, that her life was becoming a disaster.”

Lindsay had a final psychiatric appointment on January 23rd of 2023. The 17-minute appointment reported that Lindsay was “a little more anxious plus heart racing and she was noticing more AM anxiety.” The psychiatrist reported that Lindsay’s mood was “the same flat/anxious,” no motivation, numb” and that she “has to force herself up and out of the house.” Lindsay’s “sleep and medication efficacy were poor, her insight was poor and her psychiatric condition generally was unchanged.”

According to medical records, Lindsay “started hearing a compelling and unrecognizable singular male voice that told her, ‘This is your last chance’ and that she had to ‘take them with her.’”  “The voice indicated to her that she should die, and this is her last chance, and that her children would suffer if she was gone.”

One day after her last appointment with her psychiatrist, Lindsay strangled her three children, cut her own wrists and neck and jumped out of a second-floor window of her home. Lindsay suffered traumatic spinal cord injuries and is paralyzed below the sternum.

In a four-month period, Lindsay Clancy sought treatment for anxiety and received nearly a dozen prescribed mind-altering drugs in a variety of cocktails that could easily be referred to as a chemical lobotomy and drugged into a mind-numbing stupor.

Given that none of the psychiatric drugs in question had ever been tested together in clinical trials, Patrick Clancy’s attorneys may want to know what science or medicine was used to determine the cocktails of psychotropic drugs that would be used as appropriate “treatment” for Lindsay. Those same attorneys may want to know why Lindsay’s psychiatrists never ordered any tests that may have, at a minimum, ruled out any medical problem and have some understanding of what the drug levels were in Lindsay’s system.

Of course, the most obvious problem with Lindsay’s care was the fact that despite repeatedly advising her mental health practitioners about the strange and concerning feelings of self-harm and emotional numbness, the answer continually revolved around tweaking current drug cocktails or adding new drugs to the experimentation.

Lindsay’s mental health practitioners, Jennifer A. Tufts, M.D., Rebecca H. Jollotta, C.N.P, Aster Mental Health Inc., and South Shore Health Systems, should have known that the possible serious side effects of just a single drug, let alone cocktails of drugs, could have induced Lindsay’s violent behavior.

For example, let’s consider the possible serious side effects of the antidepressant Zoloft and the antipsychotic Seroquel. Taken together Lindsay could have experienced adverse side effects of this drug cocktail that included agitation, abnormal dreams, aggression, anxiety, depression, insomnia, irritability, nightmares, suicidal behavior, suicidal ideation, suicide-related events, abnormal thinking, delusions, depersonalization, hallucinations, paranoid reaction, psychosis, sleep walking, aggravated depression, aggressive reaction, mania, psychotic disorder, intense dreams, sleep disturbances and suicide attempt.

Patrick Clancy’s attorneys must establish each of the drug cocktails that were prescribed, the duration of each of the drug cocktails and how often the drugs were tweaked or when new drugs were added to Lindsay’s experimental cocktail.

It is also imperative that Clancy’s attorneys establish how the mental health practitioners anticipated how each of the drug cocktails that were prescribed would “work” as treatment and what were the drug cocktail treatment expectations that surely must have been explained to Lindsay. If those expectations were not explained, why not?

Three children are dead, a once healthy and vibrant wife and mother is a paraplegic on trial for murder, and a husband mourns the loss of his family. That a lawsuit has been filed that may finally address the unchecked experimentation with psychotropic drugs is a win for informed consent.

Despite the drug experimentation, Lindsay did not get better and, in fact, Lindsay only got worse after taking the prescribed cocktails of drugs. While tragic, the information that comes from this trial may provide the public with a clearer picture of how little is known about the adverse effects of psychiatric drug cocktails and the deadly consequences of questionable, if not unethical, “treatment” experimentation by the psychiatric industry.

  1. Looks like they handed a BUNCH of free trials to the rioter in Minneapolis – getting real time feedback daily!

  2. When they say doctors practice medicine, they mean it. They're just practicing. Practicing on human guinea pigs, just to see what may or may not work. Heathens!

  3. 20 yrs ago, the psychiatrist whom I worked with could and would on rare occasions send patient for lab work. I do not know the name of test but it revealed what medication would not be of benefit. It would rule out the one that had lest efficacy. Just saying.

  4. There is a general distrust of all psychiatric drugs lately. While all drugs can have negative effects, many lives have also been improved and saved by them.

  5. Almost ALL of the school shooters were on psychotropic drugs. I'm old. NOBODY in school took prescription drugs (except the teachers who were on valium) when I grew up.

    • Big Pharma & Big Insurance disagrees, and they are using billions and billions of dollars to buy our politicians,
I have nothing against Jesus or church, and you are right BUT
Pray directly to solve the underlying problem$$$$$$$$$$$
Better yet, do something about congress and state leaders taking bribes, at least at the voting booth
These drug users are VICTIMS, not sinners, Many are CHILDREN
THE ONES GIVING THEM BAD ADVICE are the sinners.

      • We are all sinners but you have a point.
Some of these people are victims of genuine abuse through no fault of their own. I would still recommend Christ over drugs. Through Him you will find peace. It's so evil out there.

Chatgbt is also making people crazy. Some are seeing it as a god. They are so addicted to chatgbt that when there is a power outage they can not cope with life. The damage of habitual abusers is now showing up on brain scans. No kidding. Here is one article of many on that –

If you do not use it, it will atrophy.

        It's deliberate cognitive atrophy.
Your brain is like a muscle.

    • This astonishingly ignorant comment is a good example of what's wrong with Christianity today, and why I am no longer a Christian. Christ's teachings are beautiful, but too many Christians wrap themselves in it, and then feel empowered to be perfectly despicable to others. I'm confident that if Jesus were here today, he would take a dim view of what you just said.

Christianity would be wonderful, if it just didn't involve Christians.

Some people, who you clearlyhave not met, have a legitimate need for these drugs, which you clearly do not understand.

Here's an example for you. My ex-girlfriend is an all but off the charts bipolar schizophrenic. She hears voices that are not there, she sees things that are not there, and she smells things that are not there. She is a wonderful, kind, and compassionate, not to mention hyper-intelligent, person, without a single violent bone in her body, yet she is tormented by these things 24/7. outside of these drugs, there is no escape for her.

The voices are a constant stream of horrid, negative comments in her mind, relentlessly tearing at her self-esteem, criticizing her every word, deed, and thought. They are never positive or uplifting in any way, always malevolent and very specific.

Atleast a couple of times a day they are urging her to kill herself. They never call for her to harm other people or animals, only herself. Think about what life would be like for you, if you had voices, a group of them, constantly pointingout to you buildings or bridgesyou could jump off of.

If prayer and faith in Christ could help her, they would have done so decades ago. I seriously doubt that you could endure what she has lived with every second of every day of her life since she was about 14yo. I know I couldn't. I would have done whateverI needed to to make them stop. She does not have to die to experience hell. She lives with it in her and surrounded by it already, all day, every day. It was only her incredible intelligence that gave her the ability to rationalize and think her way through it that saved her before she was finally put on most of those meds.

Even the meds don't make it all go away, but they have made ithe condition manageable for her. The meds take their own toll, so it's not a magic ticket to health. But she's still here and hanging on because of those meds.

Maybe think about people like her before saying something like that next time. You should use some of your prayer time to thank God you do not have to suffer the way people like her do.

      • You sound angry and bitter. Obviously you were never a Christian and she probably never seriously tried Christ. Since the beginnng of time, God has healed people, mentally and physically, who have been through much worse.

Chemicals will never solve the root problem. Ever. Chemicals are just a band aide for an injury that will never properly heal or give a person real peace.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
        Philippians 4:6-7

There are tons of verses but you are not interested in them.

I may get angry when I read the nonstop outrageous things going on and have been in serious situations …. but I have peace, thanks to Christ. I also understand the times we are in. I hope you reconsider Christ and find peace too.

    • That's like saying, "Oh, you have cancer, high blood pressure, a disease that needs attention? No treatment needed! Try Christ. Christ can heal, but he also calls people to help heal others.

      • LOL!
        Apples to oranges.
Many times DIET and how you live ifluences diseases.
Psychological issues are not diseases in the sense you are referring to.
They are clear signs of troubled mind or soul. Christ can easiy heal that if you let HIm. He turned Milo Yiannopoulos around from beng a homosexual.

  6. Pharmacology is not a panacea for all maladies. Especially those in mental distress. It doesn't cure, only stabilizes those symptomatic or even worse in this case exacerbates those symptoms.

I swear, it all goes back to diet. "Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food".

  7. She should have been institutionalized. They don't do it because insurance may not pay for it, they are full or the patient refuses. It is very difficult to make them admit. Some women are not mom material. Nothing wrong with that. It's just the way they are. The only thing that would have cured her is taking the kids away. The dad probably knew that but didn't have the nads. I personally know women that are good grandmothers but if they had to do it all over they would have aborted her children.

  8. All Lindsay really needed to do was go to the gym or engage in some other form of strenuous exercise and get regular talk therapy. All these medications make every situation worse.

  9. While I certainly don’t condone the outcome of this tragedy, I do understand. It’s time for people in the psychiatric field to be held accountable for their lack of care and accountability when dispensing these drugs. I know every single one of those drugs she was given. How absolutely irresponsible of anyone to dispense such dangerous drugs on top of each other. I had a similar incident (except I didn’t kill anyone or hurt myself) where my so-called Dr kept piling on more and more drugs. My husband worked away from home and it became a nightmare. My brain had become mush, gained tremendous weight, suicidal thoughts, no feelings whatsoever, totally numb.
I was lying in bed thinking to myself that could feel I was dying, I could feel my body shutting down. My husband tried to talk to the psychiatrist and was thrown out of his office for being concerned about my life! My husband then tried to find another Dr to help get me off the drug cocktail that was killing me slowly. No other psychiatrist in town would help save my life. You cannot just quit, that can kill you too. Lovely predicament. Our family Dr finally stepped in and helped me titrate off the drugs. It was a long, slow, painful process. The damage was profound. It took 3 years to recover just my brain. Then it was time to recover my physical body.
What I am saying is that this is a dirty little epidemic and seriously needs to be addressed. These people get away with hurting many people with these cocktails and they don’t give two shits about the patient.
Look the correlation of kids on psychiatric drugs and the uptick of violence from these kids. Their brains are still forming so that has got to be even worse.
I want these monsters held accountable for their sick behavior, it is unconscionable. They go get a piece of paper from a joke of a college then use humans as guinea pigs. They get kickbacks from the drugs salespeople so it lines their pockets allegedly. I wouldn’t be surprised.
    STOP THE MADNESS.

  10. Almost any mental condition (unless related to physical or genetic disorder like schizophrenia) can be fully cured by healthy non-processed food and hard physical activity like running several miles a day, lifting weights and anything else intensive and exhausting. Also, the person needs to work, have a hobby and be fully immersed into everyday life. Guaranteed.

  11. I have a good friend who has been working as a psych nurse for about 12 yrs. He tells me that docs really don't know what the psych drugs will do to an individual. It is basically trial and error. Like throwing darts at a board with a list of drugs and trying one out.

  12. Psychiatric drugs are being used to counteract supposed mental illness caused by illegal drug use. Stop using illegal drugs and you won’t need the Psychiatric drugs, in many cases

  13. Why didn't we have students shooting up schools before the 80's? Could it be that psych meds were not being used much at that time?

  14. PSYCHIATRY IS AN EXTREMELY SOPHISTOCATED NON-SCIENCE VOO DOO !!!

ALL THE DRUGS ARE LUCIFERIAN IN NATURE AND SATANIC IN THEIR USE !!!

THIS WHOLE THING IS FREAKIN' EVIL AND THEY HAVE MENGELES PRACTICING THIS VOO DOO ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THESE "MIND" DOCTORS ARE …

ALL SEXUAL DEVIANTS … WHO NEED MORE HELP THAN THE PATIENT USUALLY !!!

  15. Why am I thinking of the global experiment during the covid scam when I look at this. Who the hell, voluntarily, presents themself to be a lab rat again. Big pharma is always going to be big pharma until people wake up and demand a wrecking ball be taken to them and the politics that feed them

    • There's actually been inserted into laws passed by the DC Cartel that makes it legal for institutions, businesses and agencies to use We the People as they see pleased. They can inject, insert anything they want without your knowledge into your body and not be liable with you having no recourse.

      • This is why I no longer get any shots, flu, shingles, pneumonia, or whatever their flavor of the month is, and I never got the covid shot. You just do not know what they are sticking in you.

  16. The enemy within involves all the "institutions" that are supposed to be of benefit to We the People, but are actually destroying the country and the people.

  17. A third antidepressant, fluoxetine (Prozac) was prescribed to Lindsay who reported feeling “spacey and disconnected…”

At the same time, Lindsay was prescribed zolpidem tartrate (Ambien), mirtazapine (Remeron), and clonazepam (Klonopin)

…And the horrors continue. Any one of those drugs might suppress certain symptoms if carefully and lightly dosed, but together, they are a certain recipe for permanent damage to the patient.

In this case, it would appear that the Modern Mengeles created a psychosis that was not formerly present, leading to a suicidally murderous outcome.

It goes far beyond malpractice and the prescriber(s) belong in jail.

  18. She was a very strong woman to survive as long as she did the toxic stew that was prescribed for her. She should have been dead long before she got suicidal thoughts. The medicines she was prescribed have definite biochemical effects, opening or closing ion channels, enhancing or suppressing acetylcholine activity for example and these effects added together can kill you by interfering with basic cell function.

  19. I usually disagree with the war on psychiatry, but this is a horror story of medical incompetence. As soon as she had a bad reaction to a medication they should have weened her from it. Such drugs are not for everyone.

  20. this is why i can not stand doctors with their god complex…….they are lazy and stupid and too quick to prescribe drugs………….her husband should have paid more attention to her problems and psychosis……..

  21. All drugs are poison. Every time I see my doctor, he tries to get me to take a new prescription pill. Each time, I refuse, and he finally asked me why.
"After all the crap the medical industry put us ALL through over the past 7 years, I don't want anything in my body that doesn't belong there.", I said.
Doctor sheepishly nodded, then told me to quit smoking…

  22. " Psychiatric Experimental Drug Cocktails on Trial in Massachusetts."

This would explain the love affair the people have with the democrats for the past 70 years.

  23. Heh, that's an idea. Threaten to drug test all the rioters they catch in MN. I'll bet most of them leave.

  24. This is total baloney. TCA antidepressants are harmless. Think St. Johns Wort or chocolate. It increases Serotonin and is not dangerous. She needed hospitalization but she didn't want to quit her job. The general public are dumb as rocks. This is why healthcare is so expensive.

  25. They use to call it a nervous breakdown and people went to sanitariums for six months. It's expensive but that's the way it is. You can't do outpatient.

  26. I think AbleChild would be more credible if it would tease apart the destructive effect of the barely effective drugs like SSRIs and anti-psychotics from the extremely effective ones like stimulants for ADHD.

Moreover, it would be helpful if it would admit the possibility of adult ADHD and Autism. This is because 50-80% of adults presenting with anxiety and depression have diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD and/or Autism.

People with ADHD and Autism are failed every day by the same psychiatric industry that failed these children because it treats the symptoms and not the cause.

I get that advocacy needs a simple narrative for the message to get across but these nuances are important. For example, an untreated ADHDer lives, on average, 13 years less than the general population. This is due to addictions, accidents, suicide and obesity. If they are treated with stimulants then their life expectancy is the same as the general population. And 5-8% of the population has ADHD.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
