ADHD “Superpower” or New Psychiatric Drug Pipeline to Target Women
Republished with permission from AbleChild
It is ironic that in the same week that the Lindsay Clancy murder trial was wrapping up, the New York Post would run an article about moms being diagnosed with the alleged mental disorder ADHD. And regardless of the outcome, the Clancy trial, if anything, has shined a very bright light on the over-drugging of women as a method of behavioral “treatment,” making the Post’s article completely tone-deaf.
Surprisingly, of all the subjective psychiatric mental disorders Clancy had been diagnosed with, ADHD was not one of them. But like Clancy’s diagnoses of depression, anxiety, bipolar I and II when it comes to ADHD, there just is no objective identifiable abnormality. The fact is there is no blood test, scan, or biomarker that identifies any sort of ADHD brain malfunction that can be targeted for treatment. It is also a fact that all ADHD diagnosing depends on verbal communication about personal history and behavior.
The gist of the Post’s article is that women are apparently learning from their own daughters struggle and according to one mother, “it kind of felt like my own childhood was being repeated in front of me.” Maybe. Sounds normal, but there isn’t any real difference in adult women and young girls diagnosing of ADHD other than one is current behavior and the other is historical.
According to the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, (DSM-5), children ages 16 and under must meet 6 out of 9 symptoms such as running around, climbing on furniture, unable to sit still, missing school assignments, disorganized bedrooms, not paying attention in class, interrupting teachers or engaging in physically dangerous play.
Adult women, on the other hand, 17 and older, must meet only 5 out of 9 symptoms like restlessness, leg jiggling, a drive to always stay busy, missing work deadlines, struggling to balance chores/bills, losing focus, impulsive spending, interrupting conversations and making hasty decisions.
There you go, ladies, meet any five of these extraordinarily subjective behaviors and, voila, you have the mental disorder ADHD. In fact, the author of the article writes, “the reality is, ADHD can be a superpower…” One could argue that the reality is not who experiences these behaviors, but rather who doesn’t lose focus, spend too much money on things we really don’t need, and interrupt when others are talking? One could argue that the person who doesn’t exhibit these completely normal behaviors might be on some other psychiatric drug that renders the patient feeling nothing, allowing for any behavior to be appropriate.
Nevertheless, even though there is no malfunction of the brain that is ADHD, it is one of the top psychiatric diagnoses and drugging is the go-to “treatment.” Of course, the word “treatment” must be used lightly because there is no targeted abnormality but, rather, the chemical drug will change someone’s behavior. For example, methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta and Focalin) is a Schedule II controlled substance which means it carries a high potential for abuse and severe psychological or physical dependence. These stimulants reportedly help improve focus, reduce impulsivity and control hyperactive behavior in children and adults. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), like cocaine, “these drugs are considered dangerous.”
On the flip side, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) report that “the mode of action in man is not completely understood…there is neither specific evidence which clearly establishes the mechanism whereby Ritalin produces its mental and behavioral effects in children, nor conclusive evidence regarding how these effects relate to the condition of the central nervous system.” In other words, the FDA hasn’t got a clue how the drug “works” as “treatment” for the alleged ADHD.
There are, however, very real serious side effects associated with ADHD “treatments” that may need to be considered as part of that whole “superpower” thing, including irritability, anxiety, restlessness, sleep disorder, aggression, depression, abnormal behavior, confused state, nervousness, hallucinations, anger, suicidal ideation, altered mood, mania and abnormal thinking to name a few.
Then there is that other sticky matter of women who also may have been diagnosed with any number of other alleged mental disorders, like Lindsay Clancy, including depression, bipolar and anxiety. Are these women now embracing ADHD drugs on top of other mind-altering drug “treatments?”
Given the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 20 million women in the U.S. take drugs as “treatment” for depression, it seems possible that there could be some serious crossover cocktail “treatments.” Women make up more than half of the population using antipsychotics and one in five women take an antianxiety medication.
Given these staggering drugging data, it seems impossible that there are any women left in the U.S. who aren’t drugged for some alleged mental disorder and, adding the alleged ADHD to the psychiatric assault on women, makes it a perfect diagnosing storm. The nation is already dealing with tens of millions of women on cocktails of mind-altering drugs. Is it necessary to add the alleged ADHD drug “treatment” to the cocktail?
Presumably so. One woman interviewed for the New York Post article reported “there is no shame in needing help to feel like the best version of yourself.” Perhaps. But Lindsay Clancy wanted to be the best version of herself for her kids and sought psychiatric help. Five psychiatric diagnoses and 32 prescriptions of 13 mind-altering drugs later, would anyone seriously agree that Clancy was “helped” to be the “best version” of herself by the cocktails of psychiatric drugs prescribed?

ADHD is real. I have it, and I hate it.
Most people “have” it, but there are levels. If yours is extreme, a I feel for you.
I had a college friend who would go off the rails. We would say “Betty, your pills?” and she would have usually forgotten to take them. She would thank us for reminding her, and 15 minutes later could sit back at her drafting desk and do her work.
Same here.
I am NOT being facetious, or mean spirited, but AM serious, please describe your symptoms…
#1 – Get all food dyes out of your food. I cured my children of ADHD by banning all food dye, especially Red #40, from the house. Then the "educated" pre-school director sent me a letter that my 4yo had started kicking and biting people and I should get him a prescription or something. I went down there and caught her stuffing him with red jello, Hawaiian punch, froot loops, and red fruit rollups. How malicious. I told her to stop it and bought him dye-free snack groceries, and the letters stopped.
I am not kidding. She wasn't stupid. She had a masters degree in early childhood development. She had been trained to feed my kid to the pharmaceutical pipeline, and I wasn't having it. Read your labels. You are being poisoned.
Yes, look UP the 1991 "tobacco settlements", that LANDED US "big AG" DIRECTLY INTO the laps of fauci and the minions (NOW called "frankenfoods")-I STOPPED all "fast" food and restaurants in 1994….and NO "factory" food in boxes/bags. Some of the foreign stuff is way better than ours.
II'm So over this adhd bs. My own 30yr child swears over it.. im so irritated when anyone else even says adhd. Its so exaggerated and not even the case 98% of the time. Any excuse to make a prescription it needs to end.
I had ADHD as a child. But it was successfully beaten out of me.
I cant stop laughing… thank you for that…
I have to agreed, even though it affects me. Getting a child diagnosed as ADHD was/is as trendsetting as saying they are transsexual!
p.s. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my late 50's.
Same here. I always used to describe myself as scatterbrained, but then people assume you're stupid. I've found methods of forcing myself to focus.
ADHD diagnosis in children as being in the lower 50% of your class so, 50% are ADHD. This allows them to get permanent SSI disability and free college , graduate school etc. MOST medical students are on disability for a mental illness,. Most people get the diagnosis just to get on disability
No it doesn’t.
Incorrect.
I new a woman who had her 7 year old diagnosed with PTSD, for the extra cash/ benefits, she did so because the kid jumped at loud noises… who doesn't??!
It’s a big scam that is ruining our country
Too Much Screen Time might be a more accurate diagnosis.
PARENTS DONT WANT TO TALK TO THEIR MORON KIDS…CAN YOU BLAME THEM?
Are the kids under 18? Yes the parents are part of the problem.
ARE YOU ABLE TO GET SARCASM OR WERE YOU EDUCATED IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL? I DONT WANT TO BE ACCUSED OF ATTACKING A WANT-WIT SO PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTION BEFORE I GO ON.
Psychiatry is BS.
“Running for the shelter of mother’s little helper.”
This aint new.
Psychiatry profession just another Deep State establishment as legal excuse to prescribe these dangerous drugs for their evil agenda. Most, if not all of them are "Humanistic" lefty people that do not believe in the Biblical God and blame everything on some "human" disorder so they can prescribe these treatments and of course is very lucrative for them at the same time. What else is new?
LEECHES AND BLOOD LETTING WERE MORE SOUND MEDICAL PRACTICE THAN ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE MIND. THEY KNOW HOW TO BREAK IT BUT IN NO WAY ARE THEY ABLE TO TREAT A BROKEN MIND.
FOR ALL WE KNOW THERE MAY BE NO FIX.
PC'S ARE MADE BASED ON HUMAN THOUGHT. IF A HARD DRIVE GOES BAD YOU DONT FIX IT BC YOU CAN NEVER TRUST IT AGAIN. PEOPLE ARE MORE EXPENDABLE THAN WE ARE LED TO BELIEVE. ANY OTHER ANIMAL WOULD BE PUT DOWN BY THEIR OWN PACK OR OWNER.
As long as it gets me through the day then why should you care ?
It may get YOU through the day right up to the point you suffer a pharmaceutically induced psychotic break and unalive multiple innocent people.
That also assumes that I do not do that, either. Now go away
The drugs prescribed to someone with ADHD do not affect someone who truly has ADHD the same as it does other people. The first time I was prescribed dextrose amphetamine was the first time I slept through the night in decades. It doesn't "speed" me up at all, it is more like a tranquilizer to me. I could not function without it and didn't find out I had ADHD until I was in my late 50's, by accident!
actually, you can have a brain scan done to diagnosis ADD. If the scan shows reduced flow in the right basal ganglia part of the brain, it indicates ADD. I know this because I’ve had two scans done. They inject dye in your vein to light up that area. Medication helps me so much. I don’t get wired or energetic, it just feels like it opens my brain up so I can think clearly and not constantly be distracted or spaced out.
Now THAT is a useful comment backed by science…not the drug pushing witch doctors…sincerely thank you!!
Since they'll have super powers, does this mean we can stop subsidizing women owned businesses, basketball leagues, baseball leagues, government hiring and promotion programs and any other endeavor they've launched in the last 30-50 years?
I LIKE SEEING MINORITY OR SPECIAL DESIGNATION BUSINESSES WITH THEIR PROUDLY POSTED SIGNS. SOON AS I SEE THAT SIGN I DO A 180 AND GO SOMEPLACE WHERE I AM LESS LIKELY TO PUNCH SOMEONE.
DAY DRINKING AND VALIUM,BLACK BEAUTIES AND 714'S WE ALL YOU NEEDED IN THE 50'S – 80'S. 30 YEARS OF INTACT MARRIAGES THE OCCASIONAL TUNE UP WITH KIDS ABLE TO COPE WITH LIFE AND SUCCEED AFTER GRADUATION. VACATIONS ONCE A YEAR AND HOLIDAYS AT HOME WITH FAMILY.
SEEMS TO ME SOMEONE BROKE THE SYSTEM THAT WORKED FOR DECADES. TODAYS OUTLOOK IS AS DIM AS A BEARDED HIGH SCHOOL GIRL WITH AN OPINION WE TOLERATE THEM UTTERING.
Humans have destroyed the system all on their own. The family values have been flushed and money, possessions, ego, etc. has taken over. No one forcibly changed the lifestyle of the olden days.
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD. I ALWAYS JUST KNEW IF EVERYONE WAS DOING SOMETHING IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO FIGURE OUT WHY BEFORE I FOLLOWED…..I DONT THINK I EVER DID SEE A GOOD REASON TO FOLLOW THE MASSES.
OUTSIDE LOOKING IN IS MY PREFERRED VANTAGE POINT. I WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT ITS L;IKE TO CRAVE ATTENTION,FAME AND ADORATION OF STRANGERS. I SEEM TO BE OK WITH THAT.
The way it should be. Same here.
Yeah, tell that to JFK/RFK/MLK/MX and a Nixon/Reagan ON the side….how'd THAT happen????? COULD it BE Bouvier's " attachment" ?
It could be a number of things; all added together, and probably is. It’s just astounds me the changes I’ve seen in humanity in my almost 70 years in this material world.
In truth, all that’s needed is timed release vitamin B
No joke
First grade was "painful"….NGL. It was WORSE when I got home to Dad.
I could say they needed that drug decades ago, especially the fat ugly ones.
Anyone who believes the DSM is anything but a modern version of the Malleus Maleficarum is suffering from delusion. Go research the origins of its first iteration. Its well worth the effort.
Trust nothing coming from pharmaceutical companies. They do not support wellness. They work for profit only.
Ritalin was the go to babysitter for young teachers that had zero experience with kids or how to handle them. Rather than make a long post about this let me say we soundly rejected the idea my son was going to be drugged because a 21 year old teacher thought it would be a good thing.
You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. I suffer from ADHD as a woman and it’s no joke. I am not on Ritalin or any of the other medications for it. I try to deal with it naturally. Those who don’t suffer from it, kudos to you. As for the rest of us, leave us alone with your bs comments especially if you’ve experienced it before. As for new meds for it, I don’t trust the FDA or big pharma.
Valium.
One very popular drug.
If one becomes hooked, Big Pharma, the prescribing doctor, and pharmacy, have a customer for life, walking around dazed and confused, but happy, until the drug wears off. It becomes a way of life. They carry the pills with them at all times.
Sounds like a lack of discipline and self control to me, not a mental disorder. But a mental illness means it's not your fault or responsibility to fix, so of course that is what women will blame.
cant wait to see how this turns out. most of these woman are nuts already….
Give them some gummy’s at least it’s all natural and you can regulate it better.
Manic depression, aka bipolar disease, is treatable. I have witnessed this first hand.
The underlying problem becomes drug addiction, when the patient negotiates with the doctor for benzos and/or other drugs of chioce, like muscle relaxers, pain pills, and sleeping pills.
Antidepressants are dangerous, and generally do not work.
We live within a society of drug addicts, by design.
So what is the remedy?
Behavior Modification.
Congratulations! With this diagnoses you are now qualified to receive pill bottles full of speed!
Beware of superpowers that come in a pill (or a jab). The only superpower accessible to us is in our relationship with JC, in this life or the next one.
I was told I was "hyperactive" (the old term for ADHD) when I was a kid because I'd finish all of my schoolwork quickly, finish tests quickly, get great grades BUT then I'd get bored. There was no challenge in elementary school through high school, so I'd get bored after completing the work assigned and getting A's. Turns out, I just needed a challenge and wasn't cut out for "middle of the road work for the median intelligence". Once I arrived into adulthood and could direct my own fate suddenly I'm no longer "hyperactive". Weird right?
“Does your child act in a manner that makes life difficult for teachers? They may have. ADHD.”
No spanking has its downfall.
REMEMBER THE BENEDRYL MOMS AND THE SPIKED PUDDING?
TEACHERS NEEDS TRAINING AND FREE REIGN. RFK IS FIXING BREAKFAST CEREALS BUT 9 KINDS OF SUGAR IN CEREALS AND FOOD IN GENERAL NEVER SEEM TO COME UP. I ASSUME THEIR LOBBY IS STRONGER THAN THE DYE LOBBIES.
Thats about the truth of it.
We need to shift the burden onto those who find it difficult to inderstand that children are not meant to sit still and be inactive, that it is unnatural.
Looking at the state of the education system and its champions its not hard to see where the true mental illness lies. Same goes for parents who now see murdering their kids as a viable way of coping
Boredom isn't a bad thing. It is the opportunity for your mind to seek and explore, to ponder and question, to look back and look forward.
Our modern screen society has decoupled too many from themselves. They cannot think. They cannot reason. The only drug necessary is a detoxification from the digital mutli-media dopamine hits.
WILL YOU SHUT UP …I AM TRYING TO SEE IF SOME ONE UPVOTED MY COMMENTS SO I CAN TAKE A SELFIE WHILE TAKING A DUMP SKIPPING WORK FOR A ME DAY…GEEZE
;))
True, but I was bored and confined to a desk. There were some attempts when I was in 1st and 2nd grade to try to help, they had me reading the 4th and 5th grade English/Reading books which at least more or less matched my abilities at the time, but after that it was "Ok, sit there quietly and put your head on the desk" which felt like punishment for doing well. Eventually I started drawing/art and would bring drawing paper "books" to pass my time but even then the teachers scowled at me. It was a weird situation.
Truly our “education” system does not cater to the gifted. It literally is to the lowest common denominator (and teacher’s union/benefits). The whole “No Child Left Behind” Act was a deathblow to real education. Spend resources on kids who won’t learn, don’t care to learn, aren’t encouraged to learn only to let the gifted to essentially self-teach.
We are measurably a dumber society today. Our IQs are indeed lower. We’re on a path to serfdom. The ignorant just won’t realize it until they’re there.
WAS 18 MONTHS INTO COLLEGE WHEN I WAS IN SEVENTH GRADE WHEN I WAS GIVEN AN APTITUDE TEST. THEY DECIDED IT WAS A MISTAKE AND MADE ME COME BACK THE NEXT DAY TO TEST AGAIN BEFORE PLACING ME IN CLASSES.
THEY GAVE ME THE EXACT SAME TEST IN THE EXACT SAME ORDER THE NEXT DAY….SIGH.
YEARS LATER A TEACHER WALKED BY AND SAY AN OPEN BOOK AND ASSUMED I CHEATED. SHE MADE ME STAY AND TAKE THE TEST AGAIN WITH THE NEXT CLASS….I DID BETTER AND SHE COMPLIMENTED ME ON DOING SO WELL.
SAME TEST BUT THE QUESTIONS WERE RE-ARRANGED.
THAT WAS THE DAY I LEARNED TO SELL THE ANSWERS TO "BOTH TESTS" IN ALL CLASSES.;)) MY SALES INCREASED B/C SOMEONE FAILED TO PUT THEIR BOOKS AWAY PROPERLY AND ONE FELL OUT…
YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON I EVER TOLD THAT TO.
School is incredibly challenging for the smart ones when a class only progresses as fast as it's slowest student. My brother was in the same boat as you were.
could dull…boring…droning…teachers…have anything to do with the problem of keeping the attention of students…hmmm I had one…the sound of her droning voice would put me to sleep…
Imagine being four years old and riding your bike past the guard shack at Honolulu NAS because "my dad works here"…yeah. I HAD to wait until I was eight years old for my first ham license….(and ONE more) I was "let go" by my school district in primary education due to having >450 credit hours in only three years when you NEEDED 300 in four….everyone was mad because I DID the math (for electronics)
Yeah…..
Anyone who believes the DSM is anything but a modern version of the Malleus Maleficarum is suffering from delusion. Go research the origins of its first iteration. Its well worth the effort. The authors of the main research on ADHD later admitted that their work was terribly flawed but the beat goes on and the spice must flow.
Yeah.. I was told the same, at age 6, 'they' prescribed ritalin for me, My mother got the prescription and tried one herself… ARE YOU NUTTS!! Was her response, I just ended up being 'normal' The ironic part is my sister takes it 'now' for narcolepsy, which she did to her self by never telling her doctor how much Vivarin (by the box!)and caffeinated drinks she was consuming daily, because she was staying out partying all night, 24/7…
But 'she's' the smart one…
I was diagnosed ADHD in elementary, and public schooling always tried to shame me into compliance because I was high energy all my other friends loved being around because we always had fun cut up in and out of class and created fun memories. When I got to high school all the teachers knew who I was from parent teacher conferences. My parents appeased them by agreeing to have me on a schedule of psychiatric drugs.
They tried to force make me to take Ritalin to sedate me and I refused so they sent me to alternative school because they said I was “disruptive”.
The feminist public school system hates young ambitious and charismatic men because the femnazi’s want to be in control so they sedate the youth with psychiatric drugs to dumb us down and make us compliant.
"It is ironic that in the same week that the Lindsay Clancy murder trial was wrapping up, the New York Post would run an article about moms being diagnosed with the alleged mental disorder ADHD."
No, it isn't ironic, it is intentional. What is the one topic The Left/Democrats/Communists all freak out over: ABORTION. This is just another way to allow the killing of children who may have survived abortion, and when the Clancy woman walks free, the Liberal News People want a way to defend her non-punishment: ADHD in women gives them one.
ADHD is caused by all that dopamine being dumped on you brain because you spend way to much time playing with your smart phone…
I JUST CRACKED THE CODE. HERE IS WHAT THEY MEANT WHEN THEY CALLED IT A smart phone….THEY WERE REALLY TELLING US
smartER THAN YOU phone ;)0 CLEARLY THEY WERE RIGHT.
I have ADHD to the max. It cracks me up when I hear it called a mental disorder. It's inconvenient, for sure, but after I took Adderall for a while and found it didn't help me much, I I just started managing it with timers for everything. It's not the perfect solution, but it beats the hell out of drugs. For me. No judgment of anyone else.
22 years misdiagnosed with ADD/ADHD and took up to 40mg Adderall. True diagnosis was hypothyroidism. Now I take Liothyronine/Cytomel (T3).
Great another psycho drug for women… as if they don't take enough already.
I think ADHD is a made up condition for the benefit of big pharma and the medical establishment.
