The $6 Million Fairy Tale: How Louisiana’s GOP is Sabotaging the Classroom

The $6 Million Fairy Tale: How Louisiana’s GOP is Sabotaging the Classroom

The Republican Supermajority’s Controlled Retreat from Education

Guest post by J. Christopher Alexander
For five years, I have watched from the front lines as my wife Katie, Paige Lowry of Moms For Liberty, Christy Haik of Louisiana Republican Assembly, and a small circle of their closest allies fought for the soul of Louisiana’s children. I saw them sit in cold committee rooms, ignored and condescended to. I saw them move from one crushing defeat to another, and I saw the fire in their eyes when they celebrated even the smallest of victories. I saw it all- the exhaustion, the sacrifice, and the unwavering resolve. They never quit. Not for one second.
Through their courage, they found true warriors in leadership. They found a loyal ally in State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley, who helped secure a framework to ensure our children would be taught American Exceptionalism rather than radical, Leftist indoctrination. They found tireless defenders in State Representatives Kathy Edmonston and Beryl Amedee, as well as State Senator Valarie Hodges, women of steel who refused to compromise our children’s future for thirty pieces of silver. Together, inch by hard-fought inch, they pushed back against the pedagogical poison of CRT and DEI in our schools and gave parents a seat at the table.
Just when the dawn was breaking over the horizon, they learned the harsh reality that in Baton Rouge, a legislative Republican supermajority is often the functional equivalent of a poorly concealed retreat.
In 2025, the Louisiana House overwhelmingly passed Emily Chenevert’s HB 685, a sweeping measure to dismantle the DEI bureaucracy. Yet, under the direction of Senate President Cameron Henry—and with the quiet acquiescence of Governor Jeff Landry—that bill was allowed to wither and die on the Senate floor. They let the clock run out on our children while busily passing “Republican” bills to crush the speech of Louisiana citizens (SB 80, Miller) and send radical Democrat Leftist Cleo Fields to Congress through a grotesque racial gerrymander (SB 8, Womack), both of which were dutifully signed into law by Landry.
Now, Senator Alan Seabaugh has stepped forward to lead Act Two with SB 49. This bill is a targeted strike against eight (8) BESE seats up for election in 2027. These seats represent the final line of defense for our children’s hearts and minds. If he is successful in stripping the closed primary protection now, Seabaugh will ensure that in 2027 the radical left will not have to beat us in a general election—they will just infiltrate the jungle primary and pick the weakest candidates for us. This hackneyed routine has, for years, filled our legislature with “Republicans” who wear constitutional conservatism like a corsage during their campaigns and throw it in the nearest trashcan on arrival at the Capitol.
The excuses offered for SB 49 are a masterclass in subterfuge. First, they cite a $5.4 million election cost—a crisis of their own creation. When the Legislature passed the closed primary reform (HB 17, Emerson) in 2024, they purposefully exempted their own seats and many other statewide offices. Had they done their jobs then and included the entire state, the “extra cost” for BESE today would not exist.
Second, they offer a fairy tale: they promise to “come back later” and expand the system. How they can make such a statement with a straight face is stunning. While Seabaugh and Committee Vice- Chair Blake Miguez offer the empty hope of future expansion, Senate President Cameron Henry is already standing at the exit door. Just days ago at the Baton Rouge Press Club, Henry called the closed primary system “breathtakingly confusing” and predicted the Legislature would move to undo the entire process after 2026.
Yesterday, this charade reached a fever pitch. SB 49 was so radioactive after my testimony against it that not one Republican on the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee would even make a motion to move the bill. Chairman Caleb Kleinpeter was forced to make the motion himself while the others sat in timid silence. They wanted the death shot, but were careful to leave no fingerprints on the weapon.
We record the names of the “Phantom Five” here:
  • Senator Blake Miguez
  • Senator Mike Fesi
  • Senator Greg Miller
  • Senator Mike Reese
  • Senator Glen Womack
I sat four feet from these legislators as they responded with the cold silence of men who prefer the title of “Senator” to a hard and worthy fight.
They are all betting that we are now too tired for this battle. They are wrong. We are going to win. Whatever it takes. I guarantee it. Because we are not fighting for our own sakes, but for the sake of generations yet to come—for children who deserve a country that still understands its own greatness. We fight so they may stand guard, long after we are gone, over the blood-stained parchment of freedom that great men gave the last full measure of devotion to leave us.
The 2027 BESE seats are the high hill that honorable citizens across this great state will fight on, and die on. And we- the now awakened majority- will loudly proclaim the names of those legislators who stand with us, and also those who stand against us. If there was ever a time to heed Joshua’s advice and “choose this day whom you will serve,” that time is now.

All eyes on the Senate Floor.

  1. This is the GOP at the state level across the country. We MUST start in state elections to ONLY produce conservatives and only ONE candidate. We have to have some discipline and kneecap the state GOP apparatus that gives us weakness and failure.

    • The main infiltration of the GOP is at the upper mid level, AKA establishment. They have been infiltrated further back than I've been around and I'm 70+. The communists, the commie sympathizers or those that turn their head the other way, or take bribes or are blackmailed or just rake the path of least resistance because, as another article outs it, " they would rather be called Senator instead of having to make tough decisions; yes, those ones, they need to be purged if the country it to survive.

      • Never forgit da Stripped Pant's RePugs have been at it since da beginnin.
        .
I remeber back in 1960 when Joe Kennedy got da Mob to steal Chicago and LBJ to steal Texas and Nelson Rockefeller REPUBLICAN to throw NY State!

        • I was like in 1st grade then, but I remember my mother and father being angry about it and it shaped my view as a young child

      • Since perhaps the ratification of the constitution I think that is the way of both parties. Our history is rife with examples, Astor, the fur trade, the Civil War, who explored the west, the Mexican War, the Republic of Texas and statehood….. For a hundred years, most of those people believed in the country, for the last hundred people who went to Washington, believed in Washington and their personal power. Beginning with Wilson, then FDR>LBJ>Carter>Obama-Biden, the goal was control of the population, not lifting the population to independent success.

        • Of important notice is your Presidential timeline and how it perfectly reflects the results of creating the Federal Reserve.

        • yes. that was absolutely Wilson….he was absolutely the worst of all time – the WOAT……most now don’t even know who Wilson was

          • The father of all the worst. He was a self appointed elitist, probably the beginning of the Ivy League training program for government bureaucracy and politicians. The beginning of socialism for the masses, not for the elites. Outright racism. The Fed. The genesis of almost everything wrong in the country now.

      • RINOS are simply Democrats who ran as Republicans. We are a 'one party' country in actuality, but they pretend to be opposing parties. Uniparty. Sad but true, as we lurch evermore leftwards with only small reprieves (like PDJT) thrown in.

    • But, a lot of the time..it's hard to FIND out… the 'real politics of a Candidate! In my, Midwest city, they DON'T tell you 'D or R' of that person running!
Yes…they give 'qualifications', and, say what they 'WILL DO'…but, it's pretty much 'generic'!

      • The Democrats have decided that running as democrats doesn’t work in anything but blue states or cities, thus the blurring, especially in local races.

    • I think you misidentified the issue.

Whatever Candidates are backed by PAC money and are pre-vetted to go along to get along, so unless we get MONEY out of Politics they'll just keep being able to buy whoever will do the most for the ones doing the paying… which will continue to not be whats best for the majority of AMERICANS in the nation.

What we need are individuals who aren't Funded and who stand by what they Say with what they Do.

Most of the apparatus that pre-approves and legitimizes who gets to run is a big Cost/Expense hurdle designed to get everyone funneled to they who Gate access.

        • Yep they just like being side pickers who win infrequently… really weird to watch… Course I was never a sports fan either… so.

          • No. OBJECTIVE ACCOUNTABILITY across the board and HANG everyone on the epstein list or that did insider trading.

          • If you BELIEVE one side is better than the other, YOU are too stupid to be Picking either. ;) Voters! They who pick a side either get paid for picking the side or holding the view or they profit in some other manner. There is Zero objective profit for Tax Paying Americans in keeping this bullshit charade going any longer.

    • We should definitely kill whoever's career that suggested Thom Tillis, Lisa Murkowsky, Susan Collins, and Lindsey Flip flop Grahamn.

      • I know about Murkowski. Her dad was a banker in AK then a US senator. He was slowing down and wanted more local influence in the state so ran for governor. As governor he was able to appoint his replacement. He made a BIG show about vetting 30 some potential replacements, some of whom would have been pretty good for the state and conservatism as practiced in that time period. At the end of the big show, he “ignored” all the reports and slid the princess in. The worst bit of nepotism I have ever heard of, certainly in my lifetime. And the worst political appointment in Alaskan history.

    • Good candidates can't get office. Money is fed to the losers and the already corrupted to make sure of it. My state is filled with corrupted RINO's and (D)s running as (R)s to pollute the waters and drag us into the realm of evil. I see it all the time.

    • State laws put the County parties into power. The State parties hijack that power and do the RNC's bidding.

Become a PC. (look that up) The trenches are full of tricksters, foes, and sellouts–But THAT is where the fight is… And they do know how to fight back, so Recruit Others and watch yass.

FILE to BECOME a PC before your Primary Election. Do It.

  2. .. The good Louisianans need our prayers, they are fighting against evil principalities..
Prayers should be solicited, it is our most valuable weapon.

  3. the republican party has been infiltrated by thousands of democrats
to bad the voters are to stupid to see it before they vote

  4. As a resident of Ohio, we are having this exact thing happening with our State Speaker Of The House that has a patsy LYING woman that is stalling bill after bill concerning our 2nd Amendment rights. The Legislature overwhelmingly says they support it, but the Speaker and his foul mouthed woman in charge has refused for 2 years to bring it to the floor for a vote.

  5. The establishment GOP in WI serves only a small number of big money donors. They actively attack any grassroots conservative movement that works for the people. Our republican Speaker of the Assembly, Robin Vos colludes with the democrats to shut the people out.

The result is business as usual. Fraudulent elections, bloated budgets, insider earmarks, and no representation for the people.

  6. it always seems that those against these bills are closet marxists, queer promoters, a proclivity for the abnormal and more skeletons lurking in their closets then in cemeterys

  7. I was just yesterday explaining to my wife how Democrats infiltrate the Republican party with operatives who get elected by pretending to be Republicans. Then they conspire and "compromise" against us. They use a fraudulent election process and RNC money to stay in office. They are called RINOS. They are more evil than those Democrats who show their true colors.

    • They are the Traitors Cicero defined in his treatise in which he explained the difference between an enemy and a traitor. The enemy is a known entity while the Traitor pretends to be your friend all the while plotting your downfall.
The Traitor has a smile on his face, he moves unnoticed like a thief in the night, he whispers in your ear things you want to hear. Then he turns on you without warning.
Such is the RINO who is even worse than the Marxist Democrat who is the known enemy if all freedom loving Americans..

  8. I have more respect for gang members, gangsters and other criminals than those who embezzle and extort money from the taxpayers in DC and our states' capitals.

    • It's local, too. My stupid city council is voting to put in paid parking in our downtown & civic area. They never stop robbing us of our hard-earned money.

  9. As the democrats are running down the road towards Marxism a lot of republicans are right behind them waving their arms and shouting, "Wait for me, wait for me."

  10. Senator Blake Miguez is running for U.S. Congress. He's been running commercials on streaming TV shows. Might have to second guess voting for him..

  11. It isn't called the "deep" state for nothing. Julian Assange is proven correct about stating that our govmt is 98% corrupt. That's a lot of swamp creatures who must be removed & arrested.

  12. Gullible Americans give their compromised intellect to laziness, like lemmings RUNNING off of the cliff to perdition, condemning their progeny to life under liars.

  13. As our vastly greater because God-fearing Founders knew, understood and vainly warned us, govt is the problem, not the solution. Why is passing a trillion laws useless?:
Romans 1:18-19 LSB  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,  19  because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

    • Seems most common in "red" states where the GOP establishment has the kind of lock on power we usually associate with Democrats. My favorite example is Lankford from Oklahoma, who conspired with congressional Dems to adopt a phony solution to open borders and thereby eliminate it as an election issue in 2024.

  14. VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES. Democrats aren't going to turn out to vote in Republican primaries. They MIGHT in a primary run off– as they did for RINO Dave Phelan in early 2024. Lesson- turn out so there's no runoff.

  15. The GOP consists of the old tired guard and the RINOs. It is time for MAGA to sweep these spineless losers from the party

  16. Communists, socialists, Demonkkkrats, RINO's … etc.

    … will always be defeated.

… and eventually they will pay the ultimate price when they stand before Our Creator.

    The question, however,

… is how much are we will to give up to win?

Will we just throw in the towel, and quit? Earning no rewards or glory here and now, and certainly nothing in the next life.

Or will we do what we can – within the bounds of our morals and our laws – to stop these vile and disgusting traitors

before they are wiped out by the logic, natural, and/or divine consequences of their wicked decisions?

  17. The countries GOP is sabotaging the entire country. Parties mean nothing anymore. It's good vs evil and so far, evil isn't being slowed down.

  18. Good article.
Louisiana is a very very corrupt state. It is the most corrupt state in the south, and it runs a close race with California and Illinois.
